Can the resident AV people weigh in: is it worth spending a little extra to get the UE43NU7400 ? Extra 3 inches *wink* plus smart remote and (I think) USB recording - not sure now useful this is £379 currently and platinum code brings it down to 322.15
Seller put this up by £10 so it's £296.65 with the code. You're better off getting it at the co-op deal linked in this thread
its just an article you can read without paying
That does not at all answer the question or help in any way without paying.
Thank you very much much appreciated
Is it worth paying £349 at JL for the 5 year guarantee?
Has this got free view play?
3 hdmi and 2 usb, the other has 2 hdmi and 1 usb
What does this add from the nu7020
Good deal - have added £12.50 worth of nectar vouchers to bring it down a little more - been waiting for this to come below £300 (y)
That's not true. I've just bought one of these and personally think that the smart features on this are great! It's got Netflix, Amazon Prime, Now TV, BBC iPlayer and and loads of other apps. It's even got a web browser so you can search the net. What more do you want?!
Mum’s just bought this and it’s utter garbage, smart features are almost non-existent. Save your cash
Shame about those wide apart feet that are all to common on TVs now.
(y) never went for it due to lack of warranty (my post) worth paying a little more or see if will price match :)
Oh damn! :(
the 42" on richersounds does if you need the warranty its £329
This should have 5 year warranty shouldn't it?
Anyone know if John Lewis will price match against this?
Yes i spoke too soon. Oops.
I have the G7240 one that must be almost the same (managed to get it for about £150 refurb even though it came like new with the plastics etc on)? There was something strange with the picture at first (smooth soap opera effect that can't be disabled) and I also noticed that the BBC1 HD channel (not any others) had some weird intermittent flickering line through every so often.....very strange but hardly noticeable really. Luckily I managed to disable the smooth motion for my own particular use (as a computer monitor) buy setting the GPU output to RGB rather than the default YCbCr. It actually took a while to figure it all out tbh and I can't seem to enable HDR either. If I want smooth motion in a football game I'm watching online I just switch it back. The input lag is truly terrible in that mode, though, so RGB is needed for normal use or when you move the mouse it feels very weird lol. If you're used to the digital HD TV quality of Vestels, you won't like this one as the picture is shocking in comparison if you are using it as an actual TV.....oversharpened with overblown highlights etc and nowhere near as good as other TVs. It's still not too bad, though. There are also motion artifacts obviously due to the smooth motion that can't be turned off.....usually it judders whenever the scene changes or sometimes for random reasons in the same scene. I had one Vestal 50inch where its Netflix (particularly bad on that) and all the HDMI modes had some extra artificial sharpening that could never be turned off (it wasn't too noticeable but some DVD players would be worse than others- it made it obvious which ones added some subtle sharpening) but at least this UMC Sharp isn't like that and the sharpening can be disabled if you are not watching the TV.
Got the HD one Black Friday, delighted with the quality. Even the Apps are responsive.
That was not the same model. It was for a 40FG2241KF which is a 1080p model. Good find OP.
Pay the extra £50 for this https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/samsung-ue40nu7120-40-inch-smart-4k-uhd-tv-29325-wcode-cramptonandmoore-ebay-3138265
These were £179 Black Friday
Anyone know how long the warranty is? Just checked on link and states standard..... Is that 1 year or 2? Cheers in advance.
Which just show's that they must cut corners on new set's to keep the price reasonable but really with tech innovation they should get better each year :/
I highly doubt it, but would any retailer price match this?
£349 with 6 years warranty at RicherSounds if you need the warranty
55 inch is the minimum size for premium picture quality tv’s unfortunately. Most TVs in the budget range have similar picture quality you won’t find much better
Trouble is you try and find I decent spec'd 'current' TV of 40" they just don't exist. Oled, Qled, local dimming, etc. not available unless you buy bigger so not ideal for a bedroom/spare room TV.
Some scathing reviews, I'll avoid, even at this price.
This is a really good price, been at about £360 before Black Friday, so nice find (y)
£324 for the 50" Samsung 7040. Very nice !
Anyone got this TV ? Some mixed reviews on Amazon. Complaining about picture quality and Samsung ads
Still works you need to use a different Paypal account. I ordered 2 one each for my kids using my wife’s and my Paypal/eBay accounts
Looks like they've just fixed it... Went to buy another and it's now saying you can't use the code for that order. Tried with another account on different IP as well, same thing!
Nice! Just cancelled my Amazon order for the 7120 which was £339 and just picked this 7120 up for £294 (y)
Yes they've apologised and said they will price match at £329 So a good deal including the 5 year guarantee
Think J Lewis is under pressure/confused...I put in price match last night....checked at lunchtime..price was £299 Received price match after lunch for £329 which was the latest price I then asked them a question and also received a reply to say RGB was internet ONLY....have replied saying they have shops and internet just like J Lewis Will await their response with interest
The SAMSUNG UE40NU7120 is £319 at RLR Distribution with 3.15% off from topcashback so that's £309 https://www.rlrdistribution.co.uk/viewproduct/20156/40-4k-ultra-hd-smart-led-tv-freeview-hd-ue40nu7120 Doesn't have that 5 year warranty from John Lewis though . .
Expired - now £329 after £20 discount. JL happy to price match to £329 though, if it helps.
That's great thanks. I was leaning towards the Samsung particularly with the 5 year John Lewis warranty
It is a 2 pin cable, sometimes known as a C7 cable.
Can anyone tell me is it a 2 pin power connection or 3 pin just so o can get a longer cable to put it on my daughters bedroom wall ??
If you're looking to get a cheap 42" 4K tv the cheapest I could find after this deal was this one; https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/electriq-43-4k-ultra-hd-dolby-vision-hdr-led-smart-tv-with-freeview-hd-and-freeview-play-at-appliancesdirect-247-3124683 It arrived this morning while I was at work so not checked it out yet but for the price looks fine.
They are 279 now.
I notice this isn't marked expired, does anyone know if you can still get these ?
Just orderd this from argos because currys was Out of stock. Hope its a good choice for bedroom.
Even Curry's have it for £349 https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertainment/televisions/televisions/samsung-ue40nu7120-40-smart-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-led-tv-10178475-pdt.html
Not much difference just more connectivity
I contacted Samsung they said the 40 inch one, has an headphone jack and the other models don’t. But what’s weird is every retailer that sells the 40 inch nu7120 doesn’t state the tv has a headphone jack.
Oh wow I never noticed that my apologies. Yes the seller was Tesco Outlet (ebay)..... Maybe worth having a look at that. I have to be honest, I wasn’t very happy at all to receive a broken TV - but I was pretty damn happy with their customer service from that point on. Their eBay listing stayed buyer pays return p&p... but they set it up so I paid £0. They actually couldn’t replace it like for like initially... so offered me a full hd 43’ replacement (which I accepted)... only to then get the 40’ model I bidded on - sent - basically brand new. —— maybe it’s worth having a look at that site to give you a bit of an understanding of some prices ..... Eg: Digihome 49470FHDDLED 49” LED TV Full HD 1080p Built-In Freeview HD Tuner HDMI BRAND NEW WITH A 12 MONTH TESCO OUTLET WARRANTY £229.00 + £3 p&p: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digihome-49470FHDDLED-49-LED-TV-Full-HD-1080p-Built-In-Freeview-HD-Tuner-HDMI-/352408444091?hash=item520d2e1cbb
I note the 4K tv is an A rated refurb/return, so not a direct price comparison. But fortunate when they send a new replacement (y)
1000% agreed. This thread is talking about 2 different Tv’s though.... a full HD for £229 and a 4K one for £249. That’s a no brainer brainer and the 4K is worth the extra £20. But if your budget doesn’t stretch that far I would be surprised not to see sub £200 prices for a full hd 40’+ on Black Friday.
Awesome, thanks. Tempted by this. Gonna see what else comes up by Friday first though.
I have this TV. Bought from the Tesco outlet store with eBay 20% code. It was a refurb and Came to £144 delivered.... Problem was when I received it the screen was already smashed. Sent it back free of charge, and got a replacement. The replacement was unopened, basically brand new. It’s been a Very good TV for bedroom so far. Put a roku stick on it and it’s been ace.
Can you tell me which LG it was plz
My favourite parts were when he glossed over just how terrible the motion handling is (movement is pretty decent. That's literally all he says. If that's 'pretty decent' I'd hate to see what he thinks is crap) and the last minute or so of him telling viewers 'You can have one tomorrow by clicking in THIS LINK!!'. So it was a 5 minute sales pitch. Lol
Price dropped to £354
Couldn't agree more. Absolute nightmare. It's a minefield
I've been looking at this for the last few days. Found this video.
sounds like yours is faulty, Forza Horizon 4 looks great on mine and my eye sight is fine.
For anyone wanting to buy this, John Lewis have price matched Hills Radio for £375 with free delivery and a 5 year warranty.
£364 on Amazon.....stone cold on price! Not sure if TV is good value at £364...can't seem to get 100% confirm it upscales to 4k ?
Had some experience with this tele now - the panel is absolute garbage. Honestly, horrendous. If you want to watch any sports or do any gaming what so ever, avoid this like the plague. Not since the psp handheld in 2005 have I seen smearing and blurring like this. Blacks smear across the picture every single time there's any panning. Awful, avoid. Anyone saying this looks decent needs to get down to spec savers as soon as pos.
I have the 49” version TV in my bedroom think I paid a little bit more than this. Fantastic TV for the money.
Depends on the time of day (highfive)
Anyone tell me the distance between the legs?
Does anyone know if this is a goof tv to be used with a ps4 pro?
43" is too big for my wife ;-) What's interesting about the price change is that they'd sold 35 when I cancelled my purchase due to the price rise. And they haven't sold any more since. So the regular price minus 10% isn't broving too popular
With screens larger than 40”, you are correct. The 40” 700b is on a par with 750b in larger sizes. Had this verified by Panasonic when I was initially looking.
Sorry not what I’ve found from my research. The 700b and 600b have the same internals except for the screen technology. The 750 is in a separate league. I would be happy with any of them tbh. Nice remote, great colours and HDR is beautiful. 4k is a plus for the odd Netflix show or YouTube video.
The 700 is top of the range in 40”, equivalent to 750 in larger sizes. All reviews highlight it being the better tv by quite some distance. I’ve owned it for a few months and it’s a great telly.
I think the 600b is direct LED vs 700b LED backlight so contrast is slightly better on the 600b but the screen is slightly thicker.
I compared this to the Samsungs, and the colour is much more natural on the Panasonics. Samsungs are way oversaturated in comparison, and never adjust to as natural colour as a Panasonic panel. I went in having read the reviews, I was determined to get the Samsung, but after proper comparison, came out of the shop with the Panasonic and am very happy with it. I did exactly the same 4 years ago! Now wherever I go I can spot a Samsung straight away by the colour. Some people prefer this, so compare for yourself before buying so see which you prefer, preferably with something like Planet Earth for good natural colours. Reviews are not everything; nothing compares to actually seeing and comparing in a decent shop.
According to Which report the Samsung is a much better tv for just a bit more money this one from here https://www.shop.bt.com/products/samsung-mu6400-40--4k-ultrahd-hdr-active-crystal-colour-smart-led-tv-ue40mu6400uxxu-CT2Q.html?utm_content=RR00&gclid=CjwKCAjw8_nXBRAiEiwAXWe2yZxffKhuTfbrTc7_jzasAmyA13xUMOx5v1YF7eO-NHwr-svs0gI5vRoCzPsQAvD_BwE
I have this TV, bought for £399 about 6 months ago. Brilliant screen.
I hope there's an actual TV in that box and you haven't paid £312 just for a box.
Yeah because no one has ever been a member of Costco ever... ;)
If I was to buy a tv this size/price it would be samsung ue40mu6400
Give very nearly £400 of my money? No thanks. Pay extra and go somewhere else, it'll be worth it.
I don’t rate our chances, especially now chamberlain is injured
Dont bet on the world cup games being shown live in 4k,it aint gonna happen, although the bbc did some stealth 4k streaming tests a few weeks back! there may be some games on catchup in 4k but dont hold you breath maybe brief highlights.last i heard they just dont have the infastructure for the demand it would generate.apparently the usa and germany will stream most if not all games in 4k though.but as usual with every major sporting event, the usual hype for shifting new or old stock 4k tv,s will now be in full flow.as for the tv itself seems a good price as most places have it for about 429 ish,so have some heat for that op. 8)
