Fuel prices are set to rise. Enjoy this rate while it lasts.

Hahaha thanks. Yes I know as that is where I have been going the passed few weeks as was the cheapest around. Shame they changed it from 99RON to 97RON though

If You still own vw/audi/skoda/seat diesel with PD injectors and without DPF it's not a bad price from not a bad seller. Next best price is £25,79 on ECP site with current code.

You know your oil 😁

Look for a oil with 507.00 spec and I believe it's only in 5w30 oilspecifications.org/volkswagen.php

How is that a rip off? If you find it cheaper in store, buy from the store.

Would you advise 5w40 over 5w30 on a 07 diesel Passat with 128k miles on or should I be looking for 5w30 oil?

Ooooo ya right 😁

Redex Diesel System Cleaner at Asda for £2

When you get the diesel version yes. Two different colours available, black diesel, red petrol.

Always wait for it to go down to this price when I want it.

Normally sceptical on this sort of thing but having bought an old diesel cooper I noticed it had an annoying flat spot around 1200rpm. A bottle of this and it was sorted. It was also clearly knocking out soot as the boot was covered and the exhaust was black. Ran some DPF cleaner through and did some longer runs and that has also completely stopped, passed MOT no advisories.

As i said before, without Redex my car would never have been able to pass the MOT emissions test after it had failed it There is no higher standard of proof for me than that.

Conspiracy theories and very low standards for proof. Here's hoping you're never a juror in an important case. (y)

Redex Diesel System Cleaner 4 pack £4 (£2 Click & Collect) @ Wilko
Posted 7th SepPosted 7th Sep
Normally £8.50 currently £4 - petrol version also on offer.

Try it and see! and it definitely improves mpg and power by raising the Cetane points. I'm also aware it's basically 2(EHN) but it's supposed to also contain cleaning additives according to reviews.

This magic ingredient is called 2-Ethyl Hexyl Nitrate and you can buy it on eBay 20X cheaper than Millers. It does increase cetane level for sure, but in real life makes no difference in fuel economy or power to engine.

You've obviously never used Millers after making that comment, buy some try it for a month and then re comment here! I owned a driving school for 25 years and the difference millers made in the diesel cars was even noticed by the learners, If I stopped using it for a few weeks the engines became more noisy and not as smooth. Millers works by not only cleaning the fuel system but it also increases the Cetane number of the diesel so it burns more efficiently making the engine smoother. It also makes the fuel tank stink like the Ultimate/ V power diesel fuels so I imagine BP / Shell must use something similar. When you first start using it you notice absolutely no difference but after maybe 250 plus miles it becomes really noticeable. As I said above this only applies to the Millers 'diesel' additive, the petrol version made no difference.

Millers, Redex, BG245 - all the same snake oil. Poor people who believes this comercial trick...

It's actually very good and really works unlike this Redex. If your diesel engine is really clogged up or maybe failed the mot on emissions or smoke buy some Forte diesel additive from ebay and follow the instructions and then for preventative maintenance use Millers every fill up. The millers is that good you will notice the difference in engine smoothness within 250 miles of first using it. I also tried the Millers for petrol engines but found it made little or no difference but can definitely recommend the diesel version.

Too much debt and only a short term solution at the moment. There future investment will be based on confidence in the brand. With their latest reviews that confidence won’t last. Read trustpilot now and see how the customer service they prided themselves on has all but gone. Lots of very unhappy customers now. I hope they keep going to keep the rest of the motor trade on their toes, time will tell. BTW there are some very quick “other” electric cars around atm. atm

Thanks, all really useful info. I'm looking to buy a used prem plus c250d estate with the 7g box on a 15 or 16 plate, 50ish k miles. Best looking premium estate especially with the 19 inch wheels.

Ex demonstrator and £61k on it at 3 years old with HPI clear so I think it was a lugger. There's minor damage to the front bumper but nothing behind it, just a scuff on the lower side as if it clipped a multi story ramp edge. I think I was just unlucky with the electrics and they may have all stemmed from a single issue. The rack was replaced because the garage insisted there was nothing wrong when I first reported it. 6000 miles later they realised there was an issue but I think it was a loose fixing that had become irreparably damaged. The NOx sensors are a known issue as was the touchpad on this MY. I also have failed lights in the door handles, common again but previous owner didn't bother getting them done on warranty. (annoyed)

I have a 17 plate C250d Saloon Premium Plus with a few optional extras. I've not had any issues, I bought it last year with 2500 miles on the clock. You say you bought yours used, could it have been involved in and accident, or totally abused by the previous person?

Fixed by garage (£3k) - Parking sensors not working, active bonnet sensor faulty, touchpad not responding(software update) , steering rack clunking (needed new rack), auxiliary battery failed (twice), Fixed by me (£1.2k)- stop start never active (garage had used wrong battery), nOX sensor failure., window wiper mechanism (at 70 on the M62 in the rain!) I've also gone through rear tyres in 13k miles! I do accelerate hard though as I enjoy the performance it has. Since the above I haven't had any issues and the car is great to drive. I have the Premium Plus with Burmester audio and it sounds great for my 17k miles a year. With the long range tank, 65 instead of the usual 45, I get around 700 miles to a tank.

Will expire... as after looking I tend to agree (y)

Redex diesel system cleaner twin pack - £2.50 @ Asda
Posted 24th AugPosted 24th AugLocalLocal
Found in local Asda store (Shaw) with red sticker so most probably local store only deal. I know it’s not as cheap as the £4 for 4 offer a few months back from wilko

If you have an old old diesel car ie before 2007il ish yes these kinda work. Newer cars, don't bother.

At risk of repeating what someone else has said a zillion times watch 5th gear

Cheap for snake oil. All these people mis sold diesels with dpf for town use not told city driving clogs them up with soot as they don't get hot enough to regenerate properly, good blast up the local motorway or A road every few weeks soon sorts them out and saves mucho dinero for a garage forced regeneration.......... if it's not too late.

This, or Wurth additives which are excellent.

Don't use engine flush, it can cause more problems than you think it's going to solve. Just use good oil and more importantly change on time, then you'll have no sludge. Simple

No such thing as useful sludge. If it’s holding your seals a stuff together then they need replacing. The only thing that’s questionable is the level of protection provided while it’s running up to temperature which is minimum worry tbh and if the top end is noisy defo with a go.

Nice to see the guys branching out since Weilands death.

These things can help , they're not magic but can help. They are basically a very thin oil with detergents, so at least it's not too harmful. Some people hate these things as they say it removes useful sludge , waxes or grease that has formed and makes a good seal on things like turbo bearings etc. I've not found this, and I don't think modern engines are designed for that in mind, but rather the free flowing of oil for heat dissipation and lubrication.

I’ve always used Wynns, engine flush is helpful especially if the top end gets a bit tappy due to hydraulic cam lifters not operating properly. The fact it can help stop them from tapping proves it at least does something.

I checked at the petrol station a week or so ago and the price had been changed, £2. Heat OP!

Was showing £4 on the price tag but scanned at £2 when I bought it. So I did a little experiment of my own with this and got some interesting results. Dropped my friend off at Doncaster/Sheffield airport around two weeks ago, which is roughly a 240 round trip and picked them up this Saturday. First trip had a full bottle of Redex and none on the second with car reporting just over 56mpg for the first trip and return leg barely over 52mpg. Almost too good to be true and both journeys were on the same road (mostly A1) with similar speeds although first journey did have probably around 15-20 miles at 50mph restriction and it was a much warmer day. Also didn't look like anyone in the car put any considerable holiday weight on :D Car is an old 2005 Honda Jazz with over 100k on the clock so probably appreciated a little something, I'm not even sure if this had the fuel filter ever replaced or when the spark plugs were done last.

Personally i find; For Petrol: 1 tank of "Tesco momentum 99" or "Shell v-power" seems to have a more noticeable effect than Redex ...even after that 1 tank has gone and you're back on regular petrol. For Diesel: I find adding 5-10% unleaded into the tank makes them run better (Turbo comes on stronger and more easily). So if you have a 55 litre tank add 5 litres petrol and brim the rest with diesel, then you know it's just under 10% petrol. I should add that this won't harm a diesel engine and is actually done in colder countries to stop the diesel solidifying (it's included in some manufacturer's handbooks).

£4 at my local Morrison's garage, don't keep it in (super) store? Not national then? It shows as on offer on their website...

And I respect your opinion but I was talking about modern cars. I believe also filling an older car up with premium fuel also does the same trick though! I do believe it does help with older cars from what I have read but not having experience of older cars like Ford Escorts etc anymore I cannot say so I would not offer an opinion I try and talk about what I know and have experienced and as you have experience with older cars then I respect that! Which is illegal, the same as decatting a petrol.....again, missing the point. If you have an EU6 diesel as it should be then you aren't risking human life anymore than a petrol.

yes especially when tight idiots cutting off dpf's and some petrol cars have fap's

Of which particulate filters on eu6 class block these particular particulates. Pre 2010 models maybe but it's 2019 and we are now at EU6. Catch up.

diesel engine exhaust as “carcinogenic to humans,” based on sufficient evidence that it is linked to an increased risk of lung cancer. ...

Thats is a big problem actually it was the first thing that came to mind with this talk of electric cars. Unfortunately the chemicals in these batteries are highly toxic and flammable! If we were all to switch to electric cars how would we get rid of these batteries? A space elevator and then we can ship all the crap to the moon! Sounds mad but scientists have already been trying to design one! (shock)

Just got my voucher through , £5 added to Amazon account, thanks OP (y)

The terms say the receipt must say the fuel was purchased between the 1st and 31st of August so, looks like you’ll have to wait until you fill up next time, sorry!

Thank you, I filled up last night but didn’t get the claim in before midnight because the site decided to lock me out of my account, and now the July offer has gone. (fierce) Not sure what you mean by emailing them about the August offer, but any idea if they’ll accept a July receipt by email?

Hey Guys; The offer has renewed itself with NEW terms (yours' stated any purchase in July, these new ones say August) meaning that if you purchase another £35 worth of fuel between now and the end of August, you can claim another. (y) You'll likely have to send an email to VoucherCodes support and explain this to them with more evidence (I've done this before with rewards which have updated their terms) but if you're willing to put in a couple of mins, you can get another £5 voucher. :)

It’s good to raise the both of these as it creates a more complete burn so given more power and less emissions..

I have no doubts that increasing cetane level is good thing. Don't know about octane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdQ4J-NFoU8

Why would increasing the octane level be a good thing? (skeptical)

As far as I know, Shell V-Power fuels are GTL (Gas to liquid) and contain 25% more additives than “Normal” fuels. It’s the fuel I try to use in both our petrol and oil burner vehicles. If I can’t get that, then I put BP Premium juice in. I’ve used Redex in the past, as well as other cleaners, Archoil products have worked very well for me in the past when the DPF was clogged up. But it’s horses for courses! Some like to use these products, and some think they are “Snake oils”
