Sometimes I play in windowed borderless mode foe more stability or to check what is going on. Hope it holds up. If you keep gpu z open you can montior sensors in a window. If temps get too high then you can undervolt it. But it just sounds buggy so far :(

is there anyway to test the graphic card if it has any hardare issues?

i had an old nvidia gt 610 card. ive uninstalled those drivers normally today. pc working fine since the past 4 hours. if not i will try the ddu later. I did use heaven benchmarks first and it was working fine no issues. im also confused as to what is causing the pc to restart randomly. lets hope it works fine and its not a hardware issue with the graphic card.

Oh sorry to hear that. I didn't really stress test it - just ran R6S benchmark a few times. Trying to sell my son's old rig so was messing around with that today. What did you have before? I have both nvidia and AMD gpu drivers on that windows build... but in the past they do recommend you use DDU to uninstall your old drivers (in safe mode) and also in <no internet mode> to stop windows downloading drivers (so you download the AMD software first) https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html that said, the problem might run a bit deeper :(

Ok, cheers. Do you think I should just send mine back - I'm guessing it's this card that's causing me problems - here's a photo of the stuff I'm getting. Also do you reckon I should buy again from them or just spend more somewhere else?

Black flickering screen, horrendous. Spent 2 days trying everything in settings. Returns was good. Got a RMA number and instructions to print everything I needed. After 4 or 5 days PayPal refund notification. Although I'd tried PayPal credit for the first time and I can't yet see the refund in either my balance or coming off my PayPal credit. I assume that'll happen in due course.

What was wrong with yours? I ordered a 470 and it's given me so much grief for the last 2 days - screen flickering and screen articles, system crashing etc. How was the returns service?

I ordered a Sapphire reference 470 from these guys and I've been getting screen articles, crashing etc all day from it, how was the returns service?

Having an RX 480 show as an RX 580 isn't a "bios reflashed" issue, its an AMD driver issue. Install an older driver and it will show as an RX 480, install a much newer driver it will show as an RX 580 (This bug can even happen the other way around as well, sometimes a full DDU clean of the drivers in safe mode and a reinstall of the drivers fixes it, sometimes not). This is just an issue introduced by AMDs drivers. I wont hurt performance any as essentially the RX 580 is just a higher clocked RX 480 anyway (and this display bug doesn't change core/memory clocks at all.) (I got myself the RX 480 Nitro 4GB, tested this all myself after also being confused for a little while)

What did they say about it they still haven't changed it you should ask them to give you a mouse and keyboard like they have stated in the description pretty sure they'll be lawfully obliged as it's stated in the product description.

Hi I purchased this and it says it is 256GB (M2) so it is an M2 drive. There are a couple of other things wrong in the John Lewis description. 1st error is it does have an optical 24xDVD-rw drive 2nd error is it doesn't come with any keyboard or mouse. I have double checked they have given the correct item. I'd rather have the drive than the wired mouse/keyboard so will point the errors out to JL but won't complain

Windows 10 Intel® Core™ i7-6700K Processor RAM: 32 GB / Storage: 2 TB HDD & 256 GB SSD Graphics: AMD Radeon RX-480 With built-in WiFi

I checked it’s parts on its oem sheet and in parts it totals £1500 im sure people will dispute that, and that’s ok, but for the price pre built I feel it’s reasonable

For around £1050, I would go for a build with a six core Intel i5, 32GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB, running at DDR4-2666 memory (I'm assuming the HP has 2400) and a 6GB GTX 1060 (my part picker is otherwise quite similar to the one above but with a cheaper SSD. Keep in mind that the HP is steel, very heavy, and very large on a desk. I like the aesthetics of it, myself, and that's the selling point, for me. The case, alone, used to retail for £550, now around £300. I gave heat, though, just for the originality of the thing.

You dont have to built it yes, but for the same price, it will outperform the HP by miles. so far apart that they are not even in the same class and if you google prebuilt gaming pc, you can easily get better spec for same money like http://www.ukgamingcomputers.co.uk/scout-i5-gaming-computer-p-118.html https://www.scan.co.uk/3xs/configurator/cheap-overclocked-intel-gaming-pc-next-day-delivery-uk-g44i

reasonable build and close on price, to be fair mute point as its OOS now, but would have saved me time building it, ill have a look around at parts etc and possibly build one, ive an antec case and a windows that i can upgrade to 10 etc

From a post on another RX480 deal by a fellow HUKDer. Reading up there's a lot on the web about the card not getting sufficient power in order to comply with the manufacturer's rated power draw - this seems to have fixed it. Had a few hours on GTAV, Shadow of Mordor etc with no probs, temps stay below 80c.

Interesting. How did you know to do this?

I had the same issue - went into Wattman and increased power by 25%. Worked flawlessly with the latest drivers since. Worried me at first but very happy now!

I bought one of these from a another deal. It would regularly lock up under load. Asus did not reply. The vendor told me there was a batch fault with many of these cards and gave me a refund.

There's nothing wrong with them as far as I'm concerned, either. I didn't even know they were banned/suspended until I tried to post a comment with a link to their site sometime in the past few days and it got edited by a mod. Based on experience with previous AMD cards including the RX 480, the 480 is capped at around 150W (overclocked cards are higher) to meet their marketing specs, if you increase the power limit the card can pull way more (IIRC spike above 200W) than 150W in certain conditions. With the power limit at default 0% the card can throttle/stutter/BSOD if the GPU hits the max TDP specified in the card BIOS, without being able to pull additional power to the GPU above 150W-180W, FPS hits a ceiling even if you continue to increase the GPU clocks. The fact that the GTX 1070 is rated @150W and the GTX 1080 at only 180W (with room to spare in regards to power margins) gives you an idea of just how far behind AMD is compared to nVidia with their performance/power efficiency. I've built a rig with a Sapphire RX 480 Nitro (factory overclocked), the card crashes in BF1 at times (hard system reset), increasing the power limit all the way to the max solved that issue. I like the RX 480 despite the high power draw relative to performance, if I were you I'd just get a full refund if possible, then buy a card with different brand on another store (return it if you still have issues) or possibly a cheap GTX 1060 instead.

Did you do this based on any info? Have sent my first one back trying to decide if a replacement would be a waste of time if I end up with the same issue.

So when did you start working for Overclockers? Recently or a while ago? ;) Anecdotally, pretty much all sites are very efficient with delivery when you pay extra. Also some sites free delivery is flawless, not to mention Amazon Prime, Prime Now, etc

Got the 4gb version along with the g4560 chip and very happy but with Doom i cant cap the frame rate in vulkan mode so you get screen tearing :( Vsync made the game far too laggy and open gl mode while capped at 74fps to allow freesync to work has crashed a fair few times while other games have been fine...Might be just me as I'm new to pc gaming.

lol, i have a lot **** experience with free postings companys, like last week i order some parts for water cooling loop, and grt only half order, dont get any email about missing order, they just dispatched.. And i wait for it over week.. Not super hot, but pretty hot. If you wait until early April, the RX500 series re-spin will be out with rumours of it being more efficient and slight higher clocks. With recent driver improvements they're on par with a 1060 6Gb, uses more power mind.

I mean, again, you made an assumption that a 12.3% mhz bump will mean 12.3% theoretical benchmark improvement. It doesn't, look at your own source... 6094/5633=8.1% for the Sapphire and 5981/5566=7.4% for the ASUS in theoretical benchmark improvements. Do... You get my point yet?

I mean, do you refuse to actually look before posting? I mentioned that I've seen 11% theoretical OC (These guys say 12% theoretical OC). But did you actually look at the benchmarks provided? There are 2 cards here tested over 2 games! Sapphire and Asus cards. Sapphire goes from 60/55 + 48/44 = 9% (With HUGE rounding errors). ASUS goes from 53/51 + 42/39 = 5% (with HUGE rounding errors). So, are you seriously willing to contest this as 'higher than 8%' with the amount of rounding error? These are whole numbers being used, and over 2 games. Seems almost *perfectly* aligned with what I've said (8% games, 11% theoretical). The conclusion page just echoes my words: Quote "the 8GB card improved by between seven and 11 percent"

There you go, i've seen higher than this as well :) https://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2016/11/24/sapphire-rx-480-nitro-oc-4gb-and-8gb/11

i bought the 4gb dual for £150 and can confirm its not a looker! But it should do the job until AMD release their top end cards (need it for freesync)

Care to provide a link? I've not seen anything over 8% in game performance. I've seen a 11% theoretical OC, but it never translates to game performance (from what I've seen).

I was one of the ones who got a bad 8gb version of this card, I returned mine to CCL and they confirmed the fault. They offered me a replacement or refund, I decided to give it another chance and i'm glad i did, everything is working great this time, tested with multiple games and benchmark programs, this card is considerably quieter than my old Evga GTX 750ti SC, but I have nothing else to compare it with so I don't know if that's saying much, it certainly doesn't bother me. If anyone is looking for some idea of performance, I have been playing doom on ultra settings at 1440p and getting an average of 85fps (make sure you change the API to Vulkan in the settings as it adds about 30fps to the performance) At 1080p on ultra settings i'm getting around 155fps.

anyone recommend something similar to this please? my old card is really struggling to play battlefront

Likely was a bad batch, that lot. The only reason I avoided asus cards on thr rx 480 is no back plate, high pcb temps comparatively.. I would point a case fan at the back of that card to get a really long life out of it.

Working fine for my son for the last three days so hopefully the dodgy reports from the other thread were for a bad batch of the 8gb versions. Currently running Doom on Ultra at about 120fps (@1080p). GPU maxed at 100% but fans only at about 55% of max speed and while you can hear them, I can certainly say that my old Radeon 7870 was much hotter and noisier than this card. In normal (non-gaming) use the fans hardly ever even spin up so it's basically silent.

It's now £174.98 and you get Doom with it.

That's bad luck, my first card was the same, but thankfully my replacement is working great, I've ran it through its paces on a lot of games and benchmark programs. I'm getting 85fps on ultra settings on Doom @ 1440p, 155fps @ 1080p, using the Vulkan API. I would ask them to test a 3rd card before sending it out if you are considering giving them another chance, as it's a great card for the money that will only get better as more games start using DX12 & Vulkan.

Yeah I think there's a reason these are cheap, I ordered one but it was faulty, it would play on low settings but as soon as I turned up the detail in each of my games the card crashed to a solid colour screen in under a minute. Returned the card, they agreed it was faulty, sent me another. Does exactly the same thing. Can't even get 2 minutes into the heaven4.0 benchmark (which isn't exactly demanding anymore) at 1600x900 preset. And yes I tried both cards with several drivers, different pci-e cables, and even in another machine. After getting 2 faulty in a row I'm guessing there's a high fault rate with these cards.

Admittedly you get DOOM with this but if you're not worried about the game, can save a few quid here https://www.scan.co.uk/products/8gb-asus-radeon-rx-480-dual-oc-14nm-polaris-pcie-30-8000mhz-gddr5-1305mhz-boost-2304-streams-2x-dp-2?owpid=2832615 Might only save a fiver but £5 is £5 :)

You should have got a voucher from the retailer first, then claim the game from amdrewards. Unfortunately, the hitman promo is now over.[/quote] I did, but AMD have failed repeatedly to authenticate my AMDRewards account, and so no Hitman download. They do manage to send me lots of spam for the new cpu launch and other comps, but still fail to send any reply or activation code for the account.
