My daughter's room is not the biggest yet has lots of hight so we were thinking of getting a high bed with lots of room underneath but they seem to cost a small fortune anyway does anyone know of any deals for them or places we can shop for them I am happy building flat packs no problem she is 7 and we want it to last a while ! So needs to be a sturdy one . Thanks in advance

    How big is her room?
    And what is your budget?

    I used to have a high bed when I was small.
    I much prefer a normal height bed even I live in a box room. (edited)

    Go for one where the steps are built into it rather than 'sticking out' into the room. The only thing is as she grows if there is a desk underneath the height is obviously restricted. We had a metal one - went to look at them in Ikea one Saturday and a lady approached us and said she had one for sale and it was way better than the ones in Ikea and a fraction of the price! She even delivered it in her people carrier.

    My daughter has this one;

    We went for pine because the metal ones were quite painful on her feet. In the same way the ladder 'sticks' out as she couldn't manage the vertical ladders (a completely vertical ladder can be quite challenging for some).

    We bought it in 2016, and this past weekend I've dismantled it to move into another bedroom. Everything is still rock solid and it's worn really well. Obviously it's not the cheapest by a long way, but it's not had any maintenance needed on it.

    She has an Ektorp Ikea sofa underneath it, with a TV and Playstation mounted on one of the legs. She bumped her head a few times but she's used to it now.

    We have this which my sister gave to us for our eldest son.

    It's a really sturdy bed,well made.

    Don't know if you might find anything on local selling pages which is a reasonable price.

    I think IKEA sell high beds at a reasonable price as well.

    My only advise is really think about it as changing sheets can be a nightmare quite frankly,does my head in.

    LOL I feel your pain! They (wife and daughter) leave me to change the sheet. I've got to the point where it's easier to take the mattress down, sort the sheet out on the floor, then throw it back up!
