Yeah quite right .. the farmed version are cheaper , for that very reason. The poisons used to treat infestations of sea lice make farmed salmon a no no for me personally.. but I appreciate others are not so bothered .wild red salmon fillets are considerably more expensive unless you hit lucky in the supermarket when they are reduced for quick sale .
Red sockeye fillets? Tbh I might sound odd but I prefer buying wild than farmed salmon- it just tastes better imo and I’ve watched too much on how farmed fish (specifically salmon) is raised in quite horrid conditions. Also, the bones definitely add to the flavour than deboned tins, it’s always made me question why you’d pay more for the deboned (less fish, flavour and texture) than boned canned salmon. But ultimately if you’re primarily after price, I completely agree with you
Cheaper to buy frozen fillets than tins though, I think , is it not ? Aldi do frozen fillets works out about £7.50 a kg .
Hmm thanks. Going to be hard to justify in these times v £1.69 for pink. Apparently blind studies have proved there’s no difference in taste, it’s just East Asian snobbery for red lol
B&M were selling red salmon for about £3 for 213g last time I was in .
