Although I don't like Herring, my dog loves it, so stocked up on several cans. Thanks Scottyjim saved me a bit of money as he usually has mackrel or sardines.

Thank you so much for this. I love herring. The price has gone up a hell of a lot in recent years and many supermarkets have ceased stocking it. Aldi stopped a year or so ago. Lidl prices have risen for their tinned offerings from 69p to 1.49p (and they no longer do their Bismarck herring which I used to love. These JW brand are excellent and beat all the prices in the local Polish delis by far. 75% discount?. Clear the shelves. BTW I didn't do that but found plenty at Ealing, Acton, Queensbury and Hatch End branches in London. Full marks and lots of heat for you. All the naysayers? Well each to their own.

If it was Mackrel would have bought loads. The only way I eat herring is when it's Kippered.

Love the mackerel in a tin, love the sardines in a tin so I wouldn’t mind trying this. Another omega 3 rich fish!

In a sandwich- wholemeal bread, butter and some crisp lettuce - healthy and delicious :)

That's the funny thing about taste (actual taste) The very best "money can buy" tin of tuna may taste like (poo) but the ACTUAL (scrapings off the processing floor, even the CAT would turn it's nose up at) offerings? you may love, and why not...it's all about taste. Just sayin.

Farm Foods does seem to be the "go to" place fer shopping deals ATM. OK, not so much THIS line, but many others fer sure, so WELL worth (another) visit methinks.

Traceable, yes! Caught in drift nets which will likely have caught turtles, dolphins and shark, also yes! Stay away from John West!

Some of the mercury build up in fish is from natural sources. Tuna are deep sea fish and swim around active volcanic vents and the make up of their body absorbs the mercury. Also not helped by eating other mercury laced fish.
