Hi folks can anyone tell me who the think sells the best own brand supermarket beans I'm near to most of them but not Asda. I'm looking for a nice flavour and good amount of beans in the tin not those tins that are full of sauce

Here's a Which blind taste test from March 2022, all the ones mentioned on here are quite highly rated. Lidl Newgate and Morrisons came out joint first.

I don't want my local cleared out but I buy mine from M&S. 40p for a large tin and very nice indeed. Also, they are a good consistency unlike heinz which seems to be full of watery juice nowadays..

Stew the beans by heating them a bit longer. Beans are softer, sauce gets thicker and often caramelises slightly. 6 minutes on medium in my microwave comes out really nice.

Yes that's so true, once they've broken down a little the flavour is a lot richer

Aldi's Corale Baked Beans were good, but they stopped selling them, or changed the name, they now have Bramwells. I always add a squirt of Yellow American Mustard and a splodge of ketchup to my beans, mix it all in then heat it up.

Know you just asked for baked beans, but slight alternative also. Asda mixed beans in tomato sauce, or the mixed taco beans in chilli sauce are nice.

I spelt Branston "Branstons" earlier, either a brain fart or I'm being as daft as those who say Aldis, Tescos, Mataland, etc

Add a little molasses to any beans - even value - to make them like the superior beans from USA - Bush's. Once you do that you'll never go back to any of the usual watery British baked beans we get here.

But of the British beans, Lidl are the best, then Branston, then Morrisons, then all the rest in no particular order with Heinz in last place (they are the weakest tomato flavour and very thin sauce....the cost must go into advertising not the quality of the product? (edited)

Lidl (Newgate), though to be fair only tried the small 3pk tins and not the reduced sugar ones. They only around 67p for a 3pk, so cheap to try. (edited)

Sainsbury's Aldi price match ones are pretty good for the price. No idea what the bean to sauce ratio is like though.

I must admit I used to get Morrisons beans years back and I thought they were pretty much up there with Branston beans

I enjoy Tesco's Reduced salt and sugar Beans, good value at 4 large tins for £1.30, good flavour and healthy!; tried Asda's version - never again!

I’d avoid the supermarket own brand and opt for Branston beans everytime, good ratio of bean to sauce and very tasty. Also usually on offer in different supermarkets

Crosse and Blackwell made really nice beans, not sure they are around. But lidl or aldi are fine.

Think Crosse & Blackwell became Branston or merged with them? Might be wrong about that!

Seems they're still in America? Their Branston Pickle is branded Crosse & Blackwell crosseandblackwell.com/pro…ish (edited)
