Wtf is a SABB? Assume you mean Saab?

Not saying that I find this a particularly good deal. Buying new for 6k and selling used after 3-4 years for 4k is cheaper. And you won't have to pay excess mileage, to fix any scratch or dent when you return it and so on

Or equally, don't lease for four years, especially a Dacia.

If needs work is under warranty. Do it 1-2 weeks before 3rd anniversary then. They maintain the anniversary as the renewal date

Assuming no work is required. The final year of leasing will have no warranty either.

Average mileage is around 8K PA and you can lease above that of course. It also doesn't mean you can't exceed the contract mileage. Sometimes it's more cost effective to do this than alter the contract. Really comes down to cost of ownership.

I'm due to hand my lease sportage back by end of Sept do you think it's worth hanging on for deals at the start of September when the new reg is out?

Good priced car, I agree that buying one cash would be best. A far more cost effective car than any of the Mercedes, Audi wannabes.

Try driving one before you smash it to bits (y)

Good point. I think it’s important to have a universal benchmark and 0-60 has worked well for a number of years. But just like MPG, however, we need to move towards real life standards. People rarely do a 0-60 sprint. In gear acccelaration may be more apt

A few years ago me and my mate had whatever cars, and there was only 0.5 seconds between them on the 0-60mph. His car had more BHP and was faster accelerating than mine, but he had to change up to 3rd gear to get to 60mph (it topped out at about 58mph as I recall) where as mine would make it in 2nd, hence the narrow margin. If the measure had been 0-50mph, he'd have been markedly faster. So you can't just go on 0-60mph times.

Depends on your definition of nippy I guess. If you're used to driving low powered, slow, poor handling cars I suppose you may find this nippy. Surely you don't believe this is "very fast" from 0-30?!

Many don't to avoid Section 75 litigation. CarGiant definitely doesn't.

I've used a credit card to pay for a car before without charge (only part payment annoyingly, I could have got a lot of points back!) On another note there are money transfer cards you could look into also (0% Apr for a few years in exchange for an upfront fee). Worth looking into as an option Anyway, cold for me

Read the regulations and decide for yourself. In the past, I've not found it possible to use a credit card to pay for a car. I assume because the garage wouldn't be keen to absorb the costs (Merchant Service Charge) in a transaction of that size, which isn't unreasonable. And, of course, there's a difference between a charge (my word) and a surcharge (your word).

If there is, it would be illegal, as the law on this recently changed.

Love these Dacia posts as reading the banter make me chuckle at times the yeas and nays do get excitable at times

To be fair this car is a tasty little motor moves well and gives good feedback through the wheel, not to mention it turns heads where ever you take it, my sex life has really took a turn for the better after buying this car, probably because I have more money left over for hookers.

For all the slapping down of this deal because it's selling at rrp you are in the minority as the voting point to be it being a good deal, the community that makes this site has spoken. This deal is for someone looking for a cheap car and not too fussy about what they drive. Obviously this car is going to lose out on all points but price so why compare it, the more you pay the more you get It is cheeky of the OP to regurgitate the same deal but what the hell.

For the Pain part. Have u tried pulling the handle on outside and pushing the pin down and closing the door that works on most cars o u don't need close the doors from inside maybe will work for u aswell

Yes, had one as a company supplied vehicle. This was while working in Johannesburg this year. 0.9L Turbo engine is decent if you keep the revs up. It can catch you out if not in a low gear and will feel slug like. Keep it on the boil and it feels more like a 1.4L engine. Up front it's not too bad, the electric window buttons are bloody annoying in the middle of the car. The rear is a very uncomfortable place for adults. I can't say I'd want to buy one but they are just basic transport at the end of the day. From a personal point of view, I'd probably go with something used that's Korean.

Do folks realise that these cars are stripped down versions of the most troublesome Renault cars?

Basicaly the same car with a slight increase in ride hight and higher trim spec for a bit more money. People these days seem to like a higher driving position, me included, so best to go see and judge for yourself.

Well one of you is lying as plenty of people have bought them with no problems, go read Dacia Forum, and they all love them. This car now comes with 1 litre engine wich is better than the original 1.2 and so is a deal as no price increase for a better mover.

I have to admit Dacia have some good value cars. Who needs to look like a muppet in an AUDI, Mercedes, BMW etc... when you can buy a cheaper car. They laugh at me for driving a cheap car, well I laugh at the more for driving an expensive car.

thanks, I still have some physical issues but it could have been a lot worse.

Thats great news, I hope they do only charge an extra £1000 for the auto, though I would prefer an older 4 speed torque converter auto (with Renault and Nissan being so close I would reckon they could get an old 4 Speed Jatco auto box for peanuts, but Nissan have also been making reliable CVT's for donkeys years like in the K11 micra, so even one of them would be reliable. This dual clutch setup sounds a bit exotic and judging by VAG's earlier DSG system it could prove to be quite unreliable. Still, £8300 for a brand new Auto estate aint half bad)

I dont think people are buying Dacias to enjoy driving them . But that's perfectly fine , not everyone enjoys driving . No its not going to be the most dynamic drive , it probably isn't the most comfortable ,it probably wont be the fastest . But the mass popularity of car shaped objects like the Citroen C1/Toyota Aygo tell us that for a number of people just an affordable car to get them from A to B is what they want .Dacia are trying to break into that sector of the market and good luck to them As for the comments about aircon . yes it is only really hot enough in the UK for air con to be useful for maintaining a comfortable temperature for about 2 weeks but i find it is also really good at clearing the windscreen quickly as when its cold . But its a nice to have not an essential and something you should factor into your budget

Sort of good quote & I think youve answered your own question- you would buy one of these which as you say has less than a new 02 Clio as basically thats what you are getting is an 02 Clio but in drag but still paying 02 prices - if you need a much fater / high specced car of 2017 spec then pay twice as much & get one - basically you get what you pay for & if you want basic no frills transport & not fussed on more bhp & usb's then thats why youd get one - simples!!

What's the VED change ?

Went in to order a petrol one today, was told no chance before the VED change and can't even order the new 1.0 petrol model yet.

From my research, NCAP results have changed, which caused the lower result. There was also an error on the published weight. The Sanderro was tested 4 stars with a petrol engine, the Logan was tested with the diesel engine. If the Logan had been called the Sanderro Estate which it is, then it would have been 4 stars. Still not up there with the best, but much better than my old 15 year old Astra !

Like John I've had the option of Ford privilege and purchased Fiestas, Focus and now own Kuga. Also we've been leasing a Citreon C1 which has proved that a small 2nd car is ideal for running around. As a result of the C1 lease ending we considered the Dacia but rejected it due to poor features and price when moving up the range. We have just taken delivery of a new Hyundai i10 SE cost £7,500 and is as good if not better than any of the Fords we've owned. Suggest checking out the i10 as there's a new model out and the older models are being discounted, only bad thing is the basic FM radio but drives better than the C1.

Have been with Ford privilege for the past 4 years, both having Fiesta's. The missus was looking at the Kuga and I didn't know what I wanted. Saw this and am very tempted and now the wife is considering a Duster.Save us some serious coin.

Thank you SO much for the very detailed info, it's very helpful. I was looking for a quote through carwow, it came up the cheapest offer is Hyandai Bedford which offers me £7995. If you are taking a finance, Hyandai will contribute £500 deposit, but 6.9%interest, maximum 48months. So I am thinking to go to the bank to get a personal loan which can save a bit of interest plus can spread over 5 years. So when I don't go for the finance package from Hyandai, I don't think I could get the £500 deposit contribution though. The Bluetooth kit also costs £175 in Hyandai Brighton. I am still thinking if it's worth getting it. Thanks again, I will give them a phone call to see if I can get the same deal as yours.

Purchased from MotorVogue in Bedford, you maybe missing an additional £500 it was called manufacturers deposit on the paperwork but the dealer said it was because we had taken a test drive, but we hadn't. Original figures below, in the end I decided that I wanted the Bluetooth kit which was an additional £175, this then resulted in only metallic paint models being available which added a further £550 which I wasn't happy with but managed to negotiate 2 years servicing free so logically it cost £250. Not sure if these figures are still available as these we subject to taking delivery before 31/12 which we did, and I have to say I'm very pleased with the car. Cash Price : £8,144.00 Manufacturer Deposit : -£500 Customer Deposit : £-500 Amount of credit : £7,144 Interest : £1,018 Term 48 Months : £170.05 Total amount payable : £8,162.40

Hey mate, where did you get this deal from? I am looking for exactly the same model. The cheapest quote I have got is £7995. Many thanks!

This is a national style deal, that is purchase by dealers and used by marketing teams year in year out. You may get a good deal or it may just be hype. As ofheRs say try a dealer/broker so don't be tempted by below rrp, as most new cars can be got for below rrp

It sounds more likely that they have bought the vehicle for £x but will get £0.y as a "rebate" from the manufacturer when they shift the old stock.

Nah, the paper for the list of "optional" * extras would cost that alone. *(read "the bits even Datsun had as standard before they changed name 40 years ago")

Pre-registered no doubt, so savings of 20% plus from new would be expected, if not even more.

What they mean is "the single car invoice price is £X, but we're buying in bulk so we're actually getting them for £0.8X and selling them to you for £X". If you want a Dacia and the price you're getting them for is better than you'd otherwise get through a broker then why not?

Generally that Logan serves the purpose of a perfect minicab - very cheap to buy, insure, run and maintain. Who cares about acceleration or horsepower count as this is rarely going to do over 50mph. And if some young binge drinker pukes all over the interior - well... that's called an unexpected improvement!

It became a modern classic...

The loss in real terms is just over 4,000 pounds which equates to a little over 1,000 pounds per year, there are no real equivalent estates but the nearest equivalent for engine size, Renault Clio or for volume Ford Focus would loose you in the region of 8,000 pounds in four years, so you would have lost more than the cost of this car and even a more specked up top of this model range car.

I agree that if all you are doing is a school run twice a day then a DPF equipped car is likely to be a bad idea but it's not as black and white as you make out for other drivers. Plenty of manufacturers had issues with their first DPF engines (including Renault) but have since ironed out a lot of the issues in later cars and they can be just fine with a motorway speed run every couple of weeks. You definitely need to do your research on the specific model and engine that you are considering buying and see if it's good or bad. As an example of this, the first Skoda Superbs with DPF added had the filter placed two far from the engine so it struggled to get to temperature and was very problematic. Later engines that were designed from the outset to have a DPF didn't have the same issue. I have no idea where the Duster is on the scale of good to bad regarding DPFs

Agreed. My friend recently bought a beautiful Audi TT second hand for around £5,000. Still runs fantastic, but if anything breaks, he is looking at an expensive bill.

Having just paid £315 for an exhaust sensor (£500 all in with diagnostics, fitting etc at a specialist not main dealer) and £200 (part only) for a thermostat (electronic) and £210 per tyre it's not buying a BMW but running one which is the real challenge. So many times I'm told 'they all do that'. A new battery needs coding in to the car (circa £100 + £200 for battery) and so on. An exhaust back box for an IS is over £650 with fitting (admittedly stainless and damaged by reversing into a kerb) Fine cars but they are far from economical to run. Buying a car is only a part of the equation...........

ii don't think its about being a snob its more to do with being either very well off or a know all or both.

Like all modern diesels this will be fitted with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) making it completely useless if your car use is mainly centered around doing the shopping or running the kids to / from school. So unless you do a big commute everyday or make regular motorway journeys then forget buying a modern diesel as they are not suitable for Town or those with a low annual mileage use, nor are they suitable for a commute in stop start traffic. So in short, if you do less than about 12k miles a year with the majority of this mileage being MOTORWAY / DUAL CARRIAGEWAY use, then you shouldn't even be looking at a modern car with a diesel engine. Be warned, that ignoring this advice is likely to find you with a blocked DPF, which often requires regular dealer level regenerations (About £100 - £200 a time) and eventually could lead to a premature DPF replacement (upto £1000), the DPF will also require replacement at some point in routine servicing as it is a consumable, so expect to pay a hefty servicing bill at around the 76k - 100k mark, assuming it hasn't already become blocked and needed replacing long before then!. This isn't just personal opinion or hearsay, its a fact that has been highlighted on BBC Watchdog, its also given as open advice by the AA, and failing that, if you want to see how widespread / expensive the problems are, then just google "DPF Failure" and "Dpf Blocked" and you'll see hundreds, if not thousands of tales of woe. Its also illegal to remove the DPF, and since March it will fail the MOT if its been removed, so don't even think about this route as a workaround anymore. Simply buy a petrol or an older pre-dpf diesel. http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/fuels-and-environment/diesel-particulate-filters.html http://www.dpfproblems.net/
