Good point. I think it’s important to have a universal benchmark and 0-60 has worked well for a number of years. But just like MPG, however, we need to move towards real life standards. People rarely do a 0-60 sprint. In gear acccelaration may be more apt

ThanksForThat

A few years ago me and my mate had whatever cars, and there was only 0.5 seconds between them on the 0-60mph. His car had more BHP and was faster accelerating than mine, but he had to change up to 3rd gear to get to 60mph (it topped out at about 58mph as I recall) where as mine would make it in 2nd, hence the narrow margin. If the measure had been 0-50mph, he'd have been markedly faster. So you can't just go on 0-60mph times.

Depends on your definition of nippy I guess. If you're used to driving low powered, slow, poor handling cars I suppose you may find this nippy. Surely you don't believe this is "very fast" from 0-30?!

Many don't to avoid Section 75 litigation. CarGiant definitely doesn't.

I've used a credit card to pay for a car before without charge (only part payment annoyingly, I could have got a lot of points back!) On another note there are money transfer cards you could look into also (0% Apr for a few years in exchange for an upfront fee). Worth looking into as an option Anyway, cold for me

qbs

Read the regulations and decide for yourself. In the past, I've not found it possible to use a credit card to pay for a car. I assume because the garage wouldn't be keen to absorb the costs (Merchant Service Charge) in a transaction of that size, which isn't unreasonable. And, of course, there's a difference between a charge (my word) and a surcharge (your word).

If there is, it would be illegal, as the law on this recently changed.

Looks bad in photo and worse on the street

Love these Dacia posts as reading the banter make me chuckle at times the yeas and nays do get excitable at times

fatcarp

To be fair this car is a tasty little motor moves well and gives good feedback through the wheel, not to mention it turns heads where ever you take it, my sex life has really took a turn for the better after buying this car, probably because I have more money left over for hookers.

For all the slapping down of this deal because it's selling at rrp you are in the minority as the voting point to be it being a good deal, the community that makes this site has spoken. This deal is for someone looking for a cheap car and not too fussy about what they drive. Obviously this car is going to lose out on all points but price so why compare it, the more you pay the more you get It is cheeky of the OP to regurgitate the same deal but what the hell.

I have to admit Dacia have some good value cars. Who needs to look like a muppet in an AUDI, Mercedes, BMW etc... when you can buy a cheaper car. They laugh at me for driving a cheap car, well I laugh at the more for driving an expensive car.

mcgibbonk

thanks, I still have some physical issues but it could have been a lot worse.

Thats great news, I hope they do only charge an extra £1000 for the auto, though I would prefer an older 4 speed torque converter auto (with Renault and Nissan being so close I would reckon they could get an old 4 Speed Jatco auto box for peanuts, but Nissan have also been making reliable CVT's for donkeys years like in the K11 micra, so even one of them would be reliable. This dual clutch setup sounds a bit exotic and judging by VAG's earlier DSG system it could prove to be quite unreliable. Still, £8300 for a brand new Auto estate aint half bad)

I dont think people are buying Dacias to enjoy driving them . But that's perfectly fine , not everyone enjoys driving . No its not going to be the most dynamic drive , it probably isn't the most comfortable ,it probably wont be the fastest . But the mass popularity of car shaped objects like the Citroen C1/Toyota Aygo tell us that for a number of people just an affordable car to get them from A to B is what they want .Dacia are trying to break into that sector of the market and good luck to them As for the comments about aircon . yes it is only really hot enough in the UK for air con to be useful for maintaining a comfortable temperature for about 2 weeks but i find it is also really good at clearing the windscreen quickly as when its cold . But its a nice to have not an essential and something you should factor into your budget

petershop1

Sort of good quote & I think youve answered your own question- you would buy one of these which as you say has less than a new 02 Clio as basically thats what you are getting is an 02 Clio but in drag but still paying 02 prices - if you need a much fater / high specced car of 2017 spec then pay twice as much & get one - basically you get what you pay for & if you want basic no frills transport & not fussed on more bhp & usb's then thats why youd get one - simples!!

When you realise that a Nissan Quashqui Starts at £17,600 and rises to £23,495 with all the extras, It makes your statement a little bit silly. All car manufacturers have a base model quoted in advertising and then under the picture is a disclaimer " Model shown is an all singing all dancing premium model priced at £9,000 above the base model. Unfortunately due to the fact their is no room for manoeuvre between the cost of manufacture and the selling price Dacia have had to put the start price for the base model up to £9,495 which is still thousands below all the other equivalent models of other manufacturers. £19,000 is still a good price for four wheel drive car with all the available extras and a 7 year warranty. Before you say £19,000 for a Dacia go troll the internet and find all the positive comments about Dacia cars from the people that count, that is owners and press reviewers alike, it won't make you change your mind as I can see from your sharp terse comment. I'm on my second Dacia by choice the first a Duster for 21/2 years and now a Lodgy for 18 months and not had a problem with either so I suggest you keep your comments to yourself and let the potential buyers decide for themselves. Several members have commented that they were unaware of Dacia and after reading on HUKD about them gone along to a dealer and bought a Dacia to POWER to HUKD for that.

royals

19000 for a dacia whilst 9000 is good for a car by the time you get the spec you want youll pay alot more

Went to the Renault garage in Burton today, they had a Duster on the forecourt, it looked alright. Laureate diesel specced up = £18,950 OTR

That's interesting. I presently spend £100+ a year for AA membership. IF the Dacia AA inclusive deal (with the extended warranty) really is the complete package, as the salespeople believe but cannot substantiate, then the warranty would be worth having. If the AA deal is only the basic cover it would be necessary to think again. The most important thing is to discover what these warranties DO cover of course, or don't. I've read of Kia owners having real problems getting faults sorted. I'm pleased to hear you have had no trouble with your car though, that corroborates the report of an aquaintance of mine who has had his for 135000km with no problems.

soldierboy001

To get the Vauxhall warranty for 100,000 miles you have to keep it, the second owner has to pay for it to be transfered to him/her and the price to retain it varies with a to complicated formulae for the average punter to understand, so to get the benefit you have to keep it, how many people want to keep their car for more than 3 to 4 years. The same hard to understand formulae type warranty applies to a Kia, go on line and see if you can understand it. Not sure if the 5/7 year warranties on a Dacia are any clearer but just take the standard 3 year warraty and get the extended warranty with a good warranty company, Quentin Willson seems to recomend a good one. I've had my Duster for over 2 years and no problems, so the warranty is only good if you need it. you won't get a better deal unless the dealer gives his cars away (none Dacia dealers that is) but if you want another brand go buy it, it's called freedom of choice.
