Genuine question. Why would it of killed the franchise? I played 4 on PC and 5 on PS4. Whilst I did prefer playing it on PC I didn't feel it was a massive downgrade playing it on PS4, even that could of been that I preferred 4 to 5. Not trying to flame you just interested if I'm missing something?

I've been a fan of the franchise for a while, played a lot of tropico 4 and 5 on Steam and Xbox. Has anyone played this? How does it run? I heard that it's not as good as tropico 5 but maybe it's worth it for less than a tenner.

Porting this to console killed the franchise... dunno why companies try to tap all markets when this clearly needs a pc to play properly

Fantastic game. Kalypso also make Port Royale 4 which is excellent too.

I can't possibly imagine Tropico being fun without a mouse and keyboard.

Having played a lot of tropical 3 and 4 on Xbox 360 then got 5 on pc before it was announced on PS4 and it didn't run well on my pc, this isn't really any different to what I'm used to in terms of frame rate. The Xbox 360 literally couldn't handle 3 and would crash if your population got too big. 4 ran about as well as 6 on switch and that's with one island and a tiny population in comparison. 6 on switch is by far my best Tropical experience. No the graphics aren't great, no the frame rate isn't great but I don't think you need that for a fun RTS/city builder. Playing tropico laying in bed is well worth it and for this price is insanely good value.

Yes ill echo this, PS4 player and love the series thought id get the Switch version and it seems like a different game, i expected it to be different but not to this level.

Thanks for the info. Such a shame of the state. I have base T6 on PC and was considering getting it on switch if it ran ok...

I bought this the last time it was posted despite some debate about how well it ran, and it is only borderline playable. The frame rates are horrid and the graphics are pretty milky. They'd have been far better taking T5 and giving it the once-over to make it look and run great on more technically appropriate hardware than trying to polish the proverbial with T6. Cursory warning for those interested. This is still an excellent price, all things considered.

PS4 Same price as well

Tempting, but there’s going to be a GOTY edition with all the DLC sooner rather than later, so if you’re looking for the “full experience” then probably hold off for now.

New low price.

Pretty much Sim City on an Island yeah! But instead of you zoning Commercial and Industrial and it takes care of itself, you are directly managing all the businesses, for example loads of Cattle Ranches then Meat factories. Mine Steel, then you can open a cannery and make even more money etc. It's like that for all different resources, and different areas yield better results than others, like Tobacco might grow in one spot, but not Cocoa or Sugar for example. It's full of humour, and you have to balance the Soviets and USA as if you upset one you'll usually get invaded. I love Tropico, much better than Sim City in my opinion

Pretty sure that Tropico predates steam by a good few years. It's a pretty seasoned franchise now, that's really only seen wider popularity in the last couple of releases. It's a blend of Sim City, the Anno games, Civ series and a bit of dry humour thrown in. I really enjoyed T5 but have swerved 6 thus far on the Switch as the early reviews were less than positive. However there's been a couple of big patches distributed for it which apparently fix a lot of the graphics issues and gameplay crashes but it's probably telling how much the game has dropped in price since release. You'll never lose much money on a physical release like this at £19 though so might give this a pop.

Graphically it's a bit "muddy" but I've finished the 1st couple of levels in hand held. Worth getting if you like a decent, in depth management game as there aren't many on the switch.

What is this? Sim city on a tropical island? Tropico always struck me as a 'steam special', an indie game with lots of versions that would end up in a cheap bundle in the steam sales every single sale, same as Syberia which has also recently made it to switch. I've always been aware of the grand, and that they kept cherning them out, but beyond the el presidente figure on the packaging of every game I've never been aware of the game itself.

Graphics are a bit poo on switch
