Is this better than driveclub?

LORDY7289

It was visually well below the standard of the first game at launch. There's been a huge improvement after several large patches.

LORDY7289

Damage is realistic in that you suffer mechanical issues if you drive it like a dodgem. Not much visual damage though. It's more realistic a game than Gran Turismo.

hashemcom007

How is the damage in this game and how does the realistic simulation side of it compare to GT

RabC21

What was wrong with it?

Intriguing! Yours truly was 'involved' in the original, possibly appearing twice in the credits. Ahh fond memories... ;)

LukeXtreme

While this is a good deal all thing considered, if you are new to the Project Cars (PC) you may want to stay away from this one. PC (1) is known to be a better than Project Cars 2, I am taking sound, graphics, gameplay smoothes and a bit more foregiving handling. If you hate yourself and have got PC (1) already, go for it and get the second one :)

dannyscun

Very good game but also quite annoying at times. Still a little bit buggy on PS4 in places. Recommend at that price

umirza85

PCARS 2 is such a good upgrade from PCARS1. They've really listened to the community here and if you're worried about not being able to compete without having a wheel you needn't worry. They've really fixed the controller input on PCARS2, its actually enjoyable now to play with a controller as theyve improved it 1000% over the first game.

It's been around this price for a while at amazon hasn't it?

pfagan10

If you are on the fence about this and didn’t mind waiting, Amazon seemed to lower the price of the collectors edition for £45-50. This includes the season pass. It’s higher now, but might be worth monitoring. For what it’s worth, I think this is a great game (y)

bradevosprint

Snakeyes646

Only worth having if you have a wheel otherwise it's just not the same.

Borntooslow

I thought it was the Collectors Edition with the car model for a second there Still Hot!

A beast of a PC for the recommended specs. Over £1000 worth.

r200ti

yeh i spent a while figuring out if it was worth it. In the end im a car sim guy so bit the bullet. But yes its not very clear what your getting. And its bad times when a token for a possible future addon and a couple of extra cars costs as much as the core game. I like the game tho, certainly much better than PC1, although I wouldnt bet on it against AC in a fight. Need to turn off that annoying pit monkey to.

Freelancer

The choice is yours. That what this forum has been aiming for all those years - better, more affordable money burning ways. :D

Freelancer

Personally I am not affiliated with this project and haven’t bought game yet. It is possible that some marketing tactics were employed :D That is what different between those 2 according to their website not steam: The Standard Edition includes: The Full Game The Deluxe Edition Includes: The Full GameThe Season PassThe Motorsports Pack, featuringJaguar E-Type V12, Group 44Panoz Esperante GTR-1Audi V8 DTMOpel Astra TCR

moneypit23

Also the Deluxe edition is available at CD Keys for £34.99 which sounds the better deal to me as that effectively gives you the season pass for £12.50 over this price. I think I'll wait a while for further price drops.

DLCs are included on the disc, so even a preowned copy would give you all the content. Cheapest I've seen this to go for.

Deeky, as always, you're a gent (y)

deeky

Driveclub isn't hardcore, it's more arcade than simulation. There's no tuning to worry about. There's Rocket League, which gets great reviews, although it isn't really a racing game. Then there's Table Top Racing, which MSK played to death whilst I wasn't that keen. That's like Micro Machines, although I suspect that's a bit before your time :D I'd go with Driveclub for now and see how he goes with that. For £5 -odd you can't really go wrong. Have a look at this, it may help. Sorry I can't be more help, I haven't played many driving games on the PS4 because I'm put off by mediocre review scores, whereas an 8 year old isn't interested in that so long as it's fun.

EN1GMA

deeks, what are some good casual racing games on the ps4? its for my lad who is 8 so hardcore racing game is not something he will like. need a list of about 3 and then i'll hit ebay to find a bargain. he's got wipeout but he wants a car game not flying ships LOL

morocco1

Is all of the content disc based with this edition, no extra codes, passes etc required? I mean ALL of it, I want ALL the cars etc. I have the original disc but this is cheaper than the season pass.

morocco1

+1 for that, still playing it now. It's hugely playable with a controller - actually a great deal more difficult using a wheel (but more fun) - great selection of cars and a superb community / online challenge mode. The post-launch support it got from the developers was exemplary.

Just bought this game (Not from this site, found it by chance) @ this price it's a good buy. I was going to add this deal before I searched 😁 I was miffed however by the way the makers sold a lot of us testing pcars 1 with a lot of tracks/features/cars from pcars 2. The final game in the original pcars was missing a lot of stuff that we thought was included when we signed up for alpha/beta testing. But anyway this game is what Pcars the original should have been, it's got everything including rallycross etc. After some fine tweaking with my Ati xfire cards I got my triple monitor setup running sweet ! I will say that Pcars 2 (and the original Pcars) is the only top end racing game that will use near 100% of my two Ati gfx cards, all other racing games, for me at least, are not as well optimized. Good deal, heat added

Ohene007

Good

simonbrown

Also run this on an Oculus Rift with a G27 and GTX1070. Fantastic VR experience. Better optimized than the first PCars which really helps keep close to that magic 90fps.

diceyan

thanks for the advice all, bit the bullet and purchased, though its difficult to justify buying these games and then installing on an ssd given the cost, or should they be on hdd

The A.I is not the best but I'm loving this game online. Like all public racing it can be hit and miss, but get some good, clean racers in your friends list and join a race league or two and the game is transformed. I'm a huge Assetto Corsa fan but I've not played it at all since PC2 was released. I'll go back to it of course but for now loving Project Cars 2. I've even let my iRacing sub expire as I wasn't playing it enough.

Scottc123

I bought this for PC a couple of weeks ago. While the handling, tracks, graphics and range of options are great, I'm not enjoying it very much; the computer-controlled cars are very inconsistent in pace. One track in a series you'll blow them all away and the next you'll be struggling to come 10th. Similarly, you can have it where you are seconds off the pace in qualifying but end up in the lead from the back of the grid after a few corners. Really let down by the AI/inconsistent difficulty. You end up tweaking difficulty sliders regularly and can never get the challenge balance correct.

dogsbottom

Don't bother it's crap just get Asetto Corsa instead. It is not a good sign for the game if they have already started reductions in a new game. Save your money.

^^That is a bummer, poor 1080ti. lol But yeah, i got a 1080 myself and be it VR or not, there is only so much brute force can do to help fix unfinshied, buggy, unoptimised games, sad that is the state of the gaming industry these day, hell if i were a conspiracy nut i would even start to thing hardware makers were paying game devs to make games so unoptimised that gamers have no option to buy the next big card. lol

snoopski

Try this - http://pcars.oscarolim.pt/wheel-settings/global-settings you need to reset your settings to it and than go to "Cars" and to the adjustment with the car settings.

dulanv123

This is so weird the price keeps dropping

Rossmor40

That was first Project cars that was optimised for steering wheels which was a really stupid thing to do anyway when only about 5% of gamers own a streering wheel in the first place. On console that percentage was even less. Project cars two was meant to have been optimised a lot more for controllers.

conorlynn7

yeah project cars is optimised better for steering wheels, controllers are a little twitchy however with some tweaks in the settings it can be smoothed out quite abit.

wonderful that the price is coming down already... as soon as it get's to £19 it will be mine!!! (angel)

pfagan10

Fun and simulation will always be mutually exclusive, unless you put the time in. I’ve been on a few track days and think the cars handled nothing like any of the games. I do find this game exaggerated the handling somewhat, even four wheel drive cars drifting etc, which should be nigh on impossible with TCS enabled.

Rossmor40

Forza Horizon 3 was the most fun for me. It has possibly the most arcadey driving out of all of them but by far and away it was the best

Westwoodo

I really want this game as I loved the first one but I know it will be sub £20 after Xmas. No racing game is going to feel real with a controller, using a steering wheel doesn't really help either as they are usually much smaller. Racing games fall into 2 categories either arcade or simulation, need for speed being arcade racing, GT sport forza and project cars being simulation. The difference being it's more of a simulation of real life compared to a arcade game.

81980085

Good point, I expect most people writing reviews have no idea either. Still, most accurate doesn't mean most fun.
