I just picked this game for 4.98 at currys. Worth checking imo
Makes them seem delusional considering they wanted to make a PS5 competitor too...
i had a complete different experience... I was expecting to like Grid so much more, i love codemasters, i love the old Grid games..... ended up forcing myself to play it most of the time. Just because of the handling. tweaked it so much, controller, and advanced controller settings in game and nothing made me like it....old Grid games had imho a perfect arcade balance in the handling. I went to PC3 thinking it would be terrible because of all the sim fanbase criticism. And yeah its an arcade racer now, but imho a good one. The handling is far better than Grid sticky feel. Most of the negative feedback on PC3 is because of expectations, and i understand that....its not what PC1 was meant to be, oh well not even PC1 was what was meant to be, a GTR, rFactor, IRacing competititor...
The biggest problem with Project Cars 3 is that it is called Project Cars 3. If it had a completely different name then more people would have accepted it for what it is, more arcade than sim like its predecessors.
I actually quite like Grid - I did pick it up for £5 tho. Yes it’s basic but I found it quite fun. PC3 on the other hand, I really didn’t find fun at all. I wasn’t bothered that PC3 wasn’t a sim (I have AC, PC2 and ACC for that), but I was hoping for a sim/cade like Forza. Nope. Ok if not an arcade game then be like Wreckfest or Grid and just some fun, but no, it was pants.
I’d agree with G29 / G920. I use one now after having a tx previously. Just make sure you mod brake pedal if you get Logitech.
For anyone that doesn't have a steering wheel and associated kit I am playing this with a Xbox controller. I have started at 'Novice' level and made a few controller changes via a post on Steam and with my gears set to automatic I was hurtling round the Nordschleife at 2am this morning. I will get a steering wheel when I can afford one but for the price this can't be beat for fun. Even if you don't want to play until you have a steering wheel then it has to be worth getting now for when you do.
Off topic slightly, but can anyone recommend quite good steering wheel? Something that's is just good enough to start with and won't cost a fortune.
Cheers OP (y)

I'm glad they went with an arcade approach with this game. The first two were horrendous with a controller and no amount of tweaking made them playable. The market is also over-saturated with sim racers, we barely get anything arcade style outside of the NFS series which has been mostly poor since 2015. It has gotten completely boring and stale IMO. Whilst I do understand the frustration of fans of the previous entries, it's not like they're starved for choice for sim racers. Sales were pretty bad for the second entry, so I don't blame them for going in a different direction in order to appeal to more players.
Thanks for having my back there! (y) I did in fact Google but the information was inconclusive! (:I
just ordered.looks like a one hour update download to make it playable is required. thx OP, heat
No.... BETTER ;) :p 8)

AC Easy, especially on PC. I'd get the ultimate edition when it's next on sale, insane value for money as it comes with all the DLC (there is a lot so I wouldn't recommend the base game), and there are lots of quality mods out there. You really need a wheel though, same with pCARS which was a disappointment for me after all the hype, as it was buggy with awful AI (similar story with pCARS 2). With pCARS 3 they've given up on trying to be a sim and gone full arcade. AC isn't perfect but it offers the best value for money IMO.
Thanks o.p. Bought. (y)
Neither. A few aliens seem to cope with a game pad but it's very difficult.
This could definitely be cheaper or free with psnow or ps plus. I’m. Really tempted though I loved drive club.
Matched by Amazon, but you either need Prime, or add something else to get free delivery.
No pits. It’s the pits
Although the game was a disappointment for those who expected a simracer, I am finding the game much better than I expected, considering the development mess. The controls are very good with the controller. Compared to for example Grid, I prefer PC3 controls. I think that most reviews are punishing the game more because of expectation and not for the value of an arcade racing game which is what the game is nowdays. Sad part, no PS5 upgrade, its very blurry at 1080/1440p 60fps with a lot of aliasing.
Woulda bought if they upgraded it for the ps5 :(

£7.49 for AC Unity? :o
Heat for the effort only.
The Spring Sale is still going on, so just browse for all the discounted games or check the previous post about the Spring Sale.
This is also £15.97 at Curry’s. And Wreckfest is £14.99
Agree with this comment. I played through it but its not as good an arcade game as others out there. It tries to bring in gimmicks from Forza Horizon, handling from Need for Speed and has a career mode that doesnt really know what it is. Probably worth it at this price and not the launch £29.99 I paid haha!
Agreed. ...or Wreckfest - that's very entertaining indeed.
That's true. Nothing like first two. I wouldn't mind if they made a good arcade game. But this game is actually really bad. If you want arcady racer go for latest Grid.
Good price but apparently this game got a lot of criticism for being way too much arcade? Nothing like the first two Project Cars!

I want this but at this point it’s bound to be free soon.
I must say, the more I hear about it the more I'm tempted. But it'd be typical if it went on Gamepass after I'd bought it. I'm sure like The Crew 2 it will eventually reach the £12/£13 mark eventually.
Yep exactly, Project Cars Shift would’ve better represented what it is. It’s actually more important to complete the 3 objectives per race e.g. master 5 corners, overtake 6 cars, average time over 3 laps etc. rather than necessarily win the race although that can be an objective too. I’d say the handling was toned down simulation with some arcade tendencies that plays very well with a controller
I agree with scoobysi...they have probably alienated a lot of fans who purchased it expecting a simulation like PC2. My memory fails me but I get a sense of dejavue playing this game. Similar to Dreamcast Metropolis Street Racer, or the Xbox sequel, Project Gotham Racing (PGR), perhaps? Oh dear, showing my age here. (embarrassed) A big plus is that support for my Fanatec CSL wheel base and v2 pedals (onPC) is very good out-the-box. Even the default FF settings seem OK to me. I think not quite as arcade'y as the last Grid installment
I loved NFS shift. It reminded me of the Toca Touring Car Championship from PlayStation 1. If this is anything like Shift I'll buy it.
It is. Project Cars, Project Cars 2, and Project Cars 3 are all VR compatible.
Suprised they didnt re-launch this and call it PC4. Nobody would of known being its 10x better than PC3
I've don't have the kit but my understanding is that it can be played in VR, if you wish.
About this game NOTE: This game can only be used with the Oculus Quest/Quest 2 when the headset is connected to a VR compatible Windows PC via an Oculus Link compatible cable。 Is this a VR enabled game?
All the games you mention above are arcade racing games. PC2 is a sim not arcade. It will be very different to play. The transition between arcade to sim is quite difficult to start with. PC2 is not the beat sim but has a lot of content and decent in VR. PC3 is more arcade. I didn’t like it at all even though I do play both arcade and sim racers.
Hmm I found 1 too hard with controller and with a broken online element. Didn't even get as far as online with 2, as it was also too hard with the controller. Was going to dismiss it out of hand but if it's a bit more arcadey I might give it a bash cheers.
I have to agree with some of the comments above. It's not as sim aligned as PC1 & PC2 but as a rival to Forza/Grid it's an enjoyable addition. A bit of a grind to unlock some of the garage I must confess but at this price point it's about right. I'm waiting for the season pass to go on sale before I unlock that additional content.
Typical I only ordered from curry's this morning.
It's not awful, it's a pretty decent sim-cade racer. The hate for the game is that it's nothing like the previous games in the series, and not what the developer promised - "All the sim you could ever need". That's why people are rightfully annoyed. If you enjoy the Forza/GRID type arcade-ish racing you'll probably enjoy this.

They made a 3rd one? Does anyone buy them or just wait to be free or nearly free?
Forza 2 was great but Motorsport 4 was pretty much perfection
Forza 2 was the best. All got a bit rubbish after that and I can't stand Horizon 4 or Forza 7.
I'd compare this to project cars 2 which was a great game. That was more like a true sim game. Now that the project cars 3 was made by the same people that made latest need for speed games they have turned it into an arcade game and a poor one as well.
Forza Motorsport 4 is the best Forza still, you can't deny that
