I love nectar and so really well out of it. I take full advantage of double ups and always get lots of toys and gaming bits from Christmas presents.

Whilst this is nothing against this post and deal as such, which is a great one - my biggest gripe with Nectar is the limited choices it has to spend them - the points look so much more inflated than what they are worth. Given that Sainsbury are their biggest backer, who in turn are expensive like for like than most other big supermarket brands, it means the only choice left is to shop their in a false economy situation almost - where you feel are saving something when in reality you aren't.
Agree, the best thing to do is either spend them in Argos, or wait for double-up promos in store. If they do another promo with Ebay then I might use my points there.
Didn't know you could spend in argos?! :O

I took the 40000 points for signing up for the Nectar Amex... found petrol is the best use. Similar price to other places so you get the genuine £2.50/500 out of it. No point on food etc as you'd get 4x as much in aldi etc for the same money anyway

I doubt you'll get points if you don't pick it up, especially as others are saying they had problems with these promos before. I'd recommend picking the ticket up.

The offer is for purchasing a ticket, no mention of picking it up. The issues people have are common with all nectar promotions and nothing to do with whether they pick up the ticket. I've received points when I haven't picked up the tickets...

it's only a bonus if you're spending it anyway, if not then it's hardly going to persuade people to make purchases
And what if you want to spend £250 (like myself) ?
Why is this so hot??! it's a whopping 100 points for a £20 spend. so essentially 50p back for £20 or 2.5%, I think some people are very easily pleased!

I got my agreement through for this today and there are multiple mentions of "making a £1200 purchase right away." Is this something that you have to do to "activate" the 0% rate similar to some other cards or have I picked this up wrong?
I believe that this an illustration of the cost if you was to spent £1200, all credit cards you that illustration :D

Hope that answers your question ;)

Has anyone got any experience of using a 0% credit card to pay off vehicle finance? If I could pay the finance off with this card I'd save myself a nice wedge over the remaining term of my contract? I guess it depends if there is a fee from the finance company to pay off the existing debt by credit card. Maybe I've just answered my own question.

Like you say, depends on whether they accept CC as payment towards balance and even then, they may charge an early settlement fee/admin fee or charge ~2% for payment by credit card (as opposed to debit card)

Obviously if you know the answers to these then you can calculate whether you will still save money by going down this route

i cant understand with technology today why they say some garages which are detatched from the store cannot be linked up to the system. Telford had a brand new garage and its still not been attatched to the system. Surely only just a internet connection is needed
They are hooked up - they just don't have the special voucher printers. I don't know why!

Ordered last night, being delivered today via DPD (with any luck).
Sale has now ended, but price has only risen slightly to £39.99, still advertised with the 5 month free Instant Ink trial.
Do you need to give your bank details immediately to set up the Instant Ink trial, or can this be done later if you decide to continue with the plan ?? (Buying it as a present for someone & hoping to set it up for them).

To complete the setup you will need to fill in some card details, although you wont be billed until the end of the trial. You can change the card details at any point.

I setup my mums in her absence with my card details temporarily, then when with her we logged in to her Instant ink account and changed them to her card details. Check your PM.

only 250 points? thats about £1 something pence.
So if I fill up a full tank for say £80 odd or so then is that all you get?
Plus not to mention that you will already be paying more per litre at BP compared to other places.

So just put in 2 litres.

every pound is 2 points at BP so assuming u would top up £80 you would get 160 points plus 250 bonus (assuming you got 250 and not more) so the total points would be 410 points.

If you read my description I did say that "250 points is ok but you will have different offers and is worth checking"

Think of it this way.. It's 250 points less than you would have got if you didn't load it onto your nectar card and topped up.. Heat added oO

Wow that is harsh, 1 survey a week or closure of account?

it doesn't apply for everyone as such like if you miss one week you won't have your account deleted the 2nd week it's just from time to time they run quality control and clean up their less active members as their not really doing much for the survey panel, i took a break for a couple of months from several survey panels which ive been a member of since 2010 or so and it was amazing after all that loyality how fast they deleted me for no completing surveys in a month or two and revoked balances.

Yea, not really worth it, I gave up after a few weeks, 50 points which is 25p for like 20 mins work. However if you have some spare time and need some points, good post
In comparison, I made over 500 in the same amount of time - not too sure how you only ended up with 50.
Even tested some Mountain Dew samples too through this. I suppose i've been quite lucky compare to the majority.
I bet that's a lie, 500 points in 20 mins? You either got a bonus survey or you fibbed through the survey completing it by pressing any box, I actually take my time with the questions.
I don't believe you made 500 points in 20 mins as some surveys itself state 50-60 points with approx 12-20 mins depending on the survey
I was more referring to your use of "I gave up after a few weeks". If you "gave up after a few weeks" you'd easily have 500 or even more. As you say, it'd be unbelievable to earn 500 within 20 mins as most are only worth 50 to 100 and take around 20mins each - I'd earnt the 500 within a day or three.
I mean it's free surveys, you can't expect them to give you 300 per survey.

Oh I see how you meant, my apologies... Although that might be true its just a mere £2.50 or £5 if you boost it, to be honest I rather just do the extra hours at work lol. But yea if you have nothing else then a good deal

P.S just to add, it is not free surveys as you still need to earn the points, so it's not technically free, free to do yes but requires effort in doing them although it is fairly simple.

i had earnt around 1000 nectar points thought they would automatically transfer to card so never queried why they hadn't then randomly i went to login and my details no longer worked and said that i wasn't a member, when i questioned them about it they said the account and points earned were revoked due to user inactivity, an active member is a member who takes at least 1 survey per week and any accounts which do not meet this criteria will have their accounts closed and points revoked :/

Great brand but awful merchant. Can't vote hot on any AO deal I'm afraid.

How come awful? reason I ask is I've been on the cusp of buying from them a few times, went elsewhere in the end but in my head I have AO flagged as an okay mob. If this isn't the case I can easy un flag X)
Code does not work for me :(

Oxfam sale .. but their partners donate to make up the price

Oxfam have a sale. It's a bit of an odd (and in my opinion fantastic) way of having a sale. Pay half for a goat. You don't give half a goat. How it works .... A partner of Oxfam will pay the ot…

Ohhh PG9999 says....
As former Oxfam CEO Barbara Stocking pointed out on Radio 4 when the story broke, her successor (and my current boss), Mark Goldring, etc etc
so this listing for a 'sale' is actually self promotion to raise money for Oxfam then by an employee of Oxfam ! I don't think I noticed that in the opening post. Surely it would have been fairer to actually state that you work for Oxfam and it's simply a fund appeal ?
I don't. I do support the charity but I don't work there. I never have done.

Oh, yes, of course his job for Oxfam isn't full time. In recent years he has served as Vice-Chair of AMREF UK, the African health charity, as a board member of Accenture Development Partnerships, as Chair of the board of charity Revolving Doors and as trustee of BRAC, the Bangladesh-based development agency. Is he voluntary in any of those roles or does he receive a salary for all of them to go with his six figure Oxfam salary ?

It is a good charity but it seems excessive that in 2013 the CEO earned £120,000 !!! I don't know what the current salary is as unlike some charities they don't seem to publish senior salaries.

Compare that salary with the PM or cabinet ministers salaries rather than business CEOs and it does seem excessive for the scope of the job..

the charity brings in money, it has to run like a business in order to suceed. if you dont offer a good salary then a very qualified person will not apply. PMs dont generate money in comparison.

PMs don't generate money ? They generate and spend huge amounts of money. They also have huge responsibilities including having staff in various dangerous environments around the world. They also run an organisation that makes the role of Oxfam look like chicken feed.

Oxfam is a good organisation but don't make ridiculous claims about it please.

10 shops in under 4 weeks lol
Last time I got this offer, I purchased my items individually at the self checkout (need to be at least £1.00 though), so got my bonus points in one visit. No need to do seperate trips to the stores.
Even swiping your card to check points counts too.

If you want to get the bonus points and won't do many shops just put 1 item through at a time. Easy way to get some bonus points (I'd probably do this at a self service point as not to infuriate a cashier!!)
I do this and who cares if it upsets a cashier...they are getting paid for doing their job and I think it's probably just you imagining they get annoyed when they don't really (at least not ad much as queue behind you...LOL!)
Also get Checkoutsmart cashback for EACH receipt
BTW 6 swipes on mine until 4/1 but as above will do in one visit
Thanks :D

These are the people who are putting up train fares more than any other in January - up to 7%. Just 2 years after taking over the franchise fares have already gone up 15% on the east coast routes. I don't have any printable words to describe this company. Presumably they think they can dupe people and salvage some of their reputation by tossing out a few special offers like this every so often. Cynical beyond belief.
For some "strange" reason, you missed out that they are also replacing a large part of their stock with the new azuma's and they recently completed a £45m overhaul of their current stock. If you know how much a single Azuma will cost to rent (I believe it's 325k a month), it's easy to see why they put their price up. Do you prefer that they raise the prices 7% each year or just wait 3yrs and then raise them 21%?

Why should I know or care about every detail of their business plan? All I know the fares on the trips I make will have gone up by 22% in under 3 years, making them some of the most expensive fares in Europe. You're obviously not bothered about paying through the nose (if indeed you use the East Coast service) - I'm am.

Check your Nectar statement, some of us received 1500 points some time back
that was for the cinema ticket offer, not the 50% points back offer for eBay redemption.
Have you bothered to read earlier posts? See #131, #133 and #136
yes, they are all related to the vue cinema offer if you "bothered" to read it before replying.

I am talking about Offer number 1. in the op.

what's 1000 worth in real money?
£5 as a rule (though there are exceptions that can make those points worth more).
Don't think you can send anything cheaper then that with DHL for this to be a deal - unless of course one was anyways sending something through DHL.
