Since Fitbit basically killed these, I'm tempted to stockpile a few for when my current one dies. They're a very good, cheap, smartwatch. One company who nails the smartwatch concept, gets killed by the fitness tracker company whose stuff is multiple times the cost with features not everyone wants. Typical.

nekoangel

I just got a one from Cex only 35 delivered but obviously second hand. Great watch.

Splutterbug

True, but they have made it open source and there is a good community http://rebble.io. Got mine the last time it was cheap on Amazon (about two months ago) and have really got a lot of use out of it. Battery life is a solid 3-4 days, doesn't require much fuss. Previously I was very unconvinced by the whole idea of a smart watch but the key thing for me is I use my phone a lot less because of it which is great. Would go for an Apple Watch next time, but for now and at this price it's a great way in to the world of smart watches if you aren't too sure and don't want to lay out a fortune for one of the Apple or Sony one's.

lugsy3

I'll agree with this for the reason that I bought a printer off them and my card details were shared for buying mobile top ups. Others on that deal also had the same, never again. I even phoned them and the guy I spoke to admitted there had been some security problems.

DanOBrien

I bought one of these a few months ago when they were a similar price on Amazon... I’ve had zero issues with any functionality that doomsayers proclaimed due to the Fitbit acquisition. I love the watch, functionality is a great balance, doesn’t try to do too much, and the e-ink display is perfect imo, always readable, and battery life for a week! Hot.

Agree with a lot of what you said. We went for the bundle because the price is working out where u literally get the toddler seat for virtually nothing. If when we get round to using it we want a different one, I'm sure we would be able to sell / donate it no problem to someone who would want it and we haven't really lost anything

jdRiggs

Some things to bear in mind This toddler seat is forward facing only so it would work out expensive if you change your mind about forward / rear facing in 15 months time when you are finished with the infant carrier. Having a shared base could mean you end up buying a second base should baby number 2 come along sooner than planned. The cost of the toddler seat is likely to come down anyway over the duration it's sitting in the box in the spare room while you use the infant carrier as it isn't Isize. Car seats are the one purchase that later models have improved safely features. I would wait a year before checking out the toddler seat as there will be newer ones on the market by then.

Thanks OP, great deal for a good if dated smart watch. The link took me to buy from all third party but Amazon themselves are selling for the same price so got it from them for warranty peace of mind. It doesn't matter that Pebble is closed down, Amazon still have to warranty it for two years.

Cazza1000

These are the notifications I get on my pebble..

HankHandsome

yes, it's called 'quick launch' and the option is on the watch. select it, choose the button you want to assign and then just choose the app you want to launch and that's it.

misterleoni

Not sure why people are snarking about Pebble being acquired and dissolved as if this is a £500 watch. It's £39 FFS - people spend double that on a night out at the weekend. I'm going to order one of these chiefly for the nostalgia value. I own a 2nd gen Moto 360 and a Series 1 Apple Watch and neither of them offer the reliability and small form factor of my old Pebble Steel. It's great being able to go away on holiday for a week and know the watch will last the whole while - no need to pack a charger and charge every night. This is exactly what I used to do when I owned one. The screen is visible easily in ALL lighting conditions and it does just as good a job with the thing I do with my other watches - alarms and notifications. I never use apps or games on my smart watches - why bother when my phone is always by my side? As for the device not working in the future? Well if that happens then just as with old phones and other old bits of tech I have, I'll keep it for nostalgia value. At the end of the day I can afford to spend £39 on something nice, whether it lasts forever or not. If £39 is a lot for you then buy an Android Wear device - though I'm pretty sure many of them have no support for software updates now either, so could equally stop working in future app updates, since Google doesn't guarantee anything will work forever. Also I'm pretty sure you won't get anything resembling a smart or reliable Android Wear device for £39.

As far as I'm aware, Pebble Health continues. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have the Pebble Time and it's out of warrenty already, so even if Pebble are still there I wouldn't expect much support from them anyway.

mrew42

Nice bit of kit but.... Pebble were bough out by Fitbit and while the watch will continue to work with basic functions at the end of this year, there will be no more support. I had a Pebble Classic then bought a Sony SW3, which won't be getting Android Wear 2.0. I feel like i've been stung twice. If you're happy enough with the basic functions go ahead an buy. Just saying.

My time gets a solid 7 days as well. I've squeezed 10 days out of it before, but only just :)

My Steel still gets 7 days on a charge, I wouldn't be without it tbh.

This is the time round and has a smaller battery compared to the normal time were I get about 5 days as well

You must be using yours in a different way than me. I've got my pebble time since they sold it on kickstarter, it still holds 5 days charge for me (used to be 8 ). I get notifications from: facebook, messenger, hangouts, skype, microsoft teams, texts, 2 personal and 1 private email accounts - probably over 200 a day. Can u control music on it reply to messages is it better than the pebble smartwatch one £50 one ??

thedon

Thanks to the OP and commenters in this thread, I upgraded the deal slightly and went for the Time Steel (ebay - £79.99 - laptopoutletdirect), and love it. Great functionality for the price, looks good, and is easy to use. Only downside so far is the rather drab grey strap which looks like it'll get shabby very soon. I had the original Pebble and this feels like a big improvement - also feels like a good watch with notifications and step counter - rather than a fitness appliance with watch and notifications added as an afterthought (which is how I found Fitbit to feel). I'll wear my MiBand 2 on the other wrist and see how similar the step counts are....

elbs

Did some reasearch after reading some of these comments about 'Amazon's warranty'. From what I found, Amazon gives NO warranty for products not already covered by a manufacturer warranty. Given that the manufacturer no longer exists, this obviously has no warranty. Amazon do appear to have a repair service, but one has to pay for repairs if product not under manufacturer warranty. So beyond the 30 day returns period, you have no recourse if any issues arise. Anything goes wrong, you have a £50 paperweight.

samueljr2
