Literally the first thing it says in the description:

"Subscribe to Nest Aware and you can use the cloud to see more and do more with Nest Cam. Each Nest Cam automatically comes with a free 30-day trial. You can opt out at any time. When your trial expires, you can subscribe in the Nest app."

Can't comment in dropcam as I don't know anything about it, but I agree this would be a lot better with a subscription fee. The subscription has put me off buying this as well.

I have exactly the same problem. Night vision is totally useless when you point it through a window at an unlit area and the glass reflects the IR light. Nobody mentioned this before buying. I haven't found any solution.

Personally I'm more worried about who writes the news, and the things they don't write about.
FYI this "deal" is for 3 devices. And the link for the free version (NOT Kaspersky Internet Security) is
usa.kaspersky.com/dow…oad
The funny thing is all these people saying Kaspersky are spying have got their news from googling, or Facebook, or mainstream media sites, all of which are data mining too. Most are even reading this so called news using Android or chrome devices, or even Windows or Mac, all of which “spy” on them too. Even the ISP is at it! Whether you want to believe it or not, your data is going all over the place without your knowledge, and to say no to probably the best security suite because of some silly mainstream media scaremongering is just ridiculous. It will help reduce the spying that already going on if nothing else..

So, this is how i think it works:

It captures 3 photos from whenever it detects motion and sends you an alarm. These photos are captured in the cloud for 15 days. So you only get photos from the last 15 days whenever motion is detected. If you want video loop recording, thats what the online service you can buy for £4 a month.

Hi, i got a second one yesterday from ebay mymemory-uk for £21.99.

I have the first one placed on the inside of the window facing outside towards my cars. During the night the infrared lights shine at the glass window and back in the camera and you cannot really see anything. So I have stuck black tape on the infrared lights and now even at night time it shows outside clearly. Street lights are quite bright outside so everything is visible.

The second one should come tomorrow and will be using it to see the back of the garden.

There is an all black one that’s about £50 which does nearly full 180 degree but all the others are the same as this one in white with blue, orange or grey trim. This is the normal price but still a good product. The Yi cameras are much better quality but about twice the price.I ordered one of these for £40 the other day and it’s brilliant. My only complaint is that it can’t rotate down much (it goes horizontal) - while it can go directly upwards and nearly 360 around so you need to use the included ceiling mount to point it downward. It’s also near silent while moving and image quality is excellent.

Russian access to your full computer info??

The perfect citizen subject. Swallowing hook, line & sinker the propaganda narrative that Russia=bad.

Personally, I trust 'Russia' more with 'access' to my data than the UK/US any day of the week.
Kaspersky is excellent. They become victims of American anti-Russian campaign. Yanks seems to attack any successful Russian company.
Even UK government not found any evidence regarding Kaspersky supporting Kremlin. They just cautioned about using Russian av.
yup they are different products.

I would take alot of what is said about kaspersky with some added salt.

Remember intel's mcafee, isn't doing well, same with the other av.

Also other av's have silmar capabilities that kaspersky susposidly has

It is so clear and works faultless, also I can view 20m away clearly. I bought a 1tb he’d separately got £40 and the system was £60. There are a lot of posts on here where people have purchased since then much cheaper.

How is it?Tell me it's Crap so I don't feel bad I missed it

Haha, it's pretty good to be honest. Not the most intuitive interface. But, to help you feel better, it's a hell of a lot of cables to run around the house, even if you don't use all the cameras. A few wireless cameras might be a better option for most people.
