The good thing about the Flyer is the ability to write on it with the supplied pen ... I'm not aware of any other tablet that has that feature and it is absolutely brilliant; I'm not sure why other manufacturers haven't taken up that idea
Galaxy Note phone and Tablet spring to mind ! Both advertised massively on TV.

I had one of these (briefly) and found it heavy with a low resolution display - Nexus 7 is much better at this price.
why not buy nexus 7 or kindle fire? htc has old android verson, much older tablet. cold

Brilliant little, if heavy, tablet & pretty good price too. Got my parents the 32gb 3G one at Xmas & I was very impressed with it. Runs most apps really quick & with no problems. Upgraded it to HC when that was released & still running no problems.

Would I get one of these over the Nexus? Depends what you want it for, both have +'s & -'s so all depends how you want to use it really but I wouldn't worry too much about this being an older tablet, it's very well put together & will run for years.
Personally I'd go for an Ainol or Onda tablet.
Showing as 199.97 at the moment with 445 available.

Just in case this offer becomes available again and people are in two minds as to get one I thought I'd leave some feedback after receiving mine yesterday. Screen is excellent. Build is solid. Performance is great so far - I haven't noticed any slow down when in apps or browsing. The pen that comes with it is a nice addition - just a shame there aren't any more apps that it. I'm going to stick to gingerbread as the upgrade to honeycomb steals some screen real estate. All in all extremely happy with my new toy and would highly recommend it.
I just hope we get the spen and the case with the deal will report back when it arrives for the thumbs up next time this offer goes hot.And now rumours are hot with flyer gettin icecream in August.

I had one for a while and took it back. While the build quality was good and stylus integration excellent the fact it couldnt play flash videos at even a remotely acceptable frame rate was a big let down for me, stability was also a huge issue.

I ended up buying a blackberry playbook and actually quite like it now, its got a fair few games and the browsing experience is excellent for the price. Dont get me wrong though, i do miss the amount of apps/games on android. (the blackberry playbook android emulator is pretty useless, approx 1/10 apps work)

It needs to drop a lot further
before I would consider one.
I agree with "Royals" that
£250 is more sensible.

It depends how much

I'm writing from a prison now, it's called the UK.

I was watching the TV the other day, they were showing footage of many UK conurbations where children, juveniles and women were openly looting yards from police just standing by watching.
Unlike prison, you're free to do pretty much whatever you like apparently :)
HTC are currrently rolling out Gingerbread 2.3.4 to the Flyer. They are still 'promising' a variant of Honeycomb (no indications as tot the version). Money would be on Honeycomb 3.2 as this was the 1st version that was designed to support 7" devices.

HTC are due shortly to release a 10" tablet codenamed Puccini. This is suppose to run Honeycomb from the start.

As to the question of the price of the Flyer against other devices. The Flyer supports the use of a Stylus, and in the EU this is included in the price. This isn't just a dumb piece of plastic as with Stylus of the past. HTC's stylus includes it's own battery along with buttons inbuilt into the Stylus. The device also includes an N-Trig Digitiser thus you wirst isn't mistaken for the stylus.

Wait for the htc honeycomb tablet, I think it would be worth your money.

Honeycomb is due to come to this before the end of the year according to HTC.
Bought one for the wife as she's been after a 7" for the handbag, thanks for the code Op and hot.

Having had a few Android devices over the past year (including dual core, gingerbread, etc) I have found them all to be laggy & a bit clunky - however fortunately there is a strong homebrew rom community going on at XDA Forum who seem to be able to sort most of this out.
One day I expect Google to make Android a genuinely slick OS, but in the meantime at least they have the sense to design it to be open enough for others to tweak it...
Apple on the other hand never let anything out the door unless it's super slick, it's just unfortunate they lock it all down too ;-<
dayuum
the last time i tried one of these in a carphone warehouse it was painfully laggy - has there been an update that improved it since then?

at £330, I would much rather pay an extra £70 and get an iPad that is significantly faster and with a considerably bigger screen

I've a Flyer (32Gb / 3G version) and don't have any particular issues with it being Laggy. I did read that some of the demos units in stores where showing a lag issue, which was (apparently) being caused by these demo units running a special firmware version designed simulate responses (such as received text messages etc).
Wow oh wow. These phone companies are creaming you guys, new phones every year. Great to be in the mobile industry these days.

I wonder how Apple's lawsuit against Samsung will hold up for everyone else. Perhaps some innovation could come to fruition also.
