My white and silver Redmi 3 Pro turned up yesterday and I'm blown away! Build quality is superb. Bought mine from seller Dreami on AliExpress, sealed with original Chinese ROM installed. Whacked Google Play Store and Nova Launcher on top and it's performing brilliantly :)

Phone came with a screen protector and case thrown in, along with a dual nano sim adapter. Seriously impressed.
Just ordered the Redmi 3 Pro with 3GB / 32GB storage for £106 odd. The Note 3 is the better device, but my fingers aren't big enough for phones over 5".

Hoping for 7.5% Quidco cashback as well :) Will sell on the Doogee Valencia 2 Pro which is great, except I have pressure marks on the screen now, and the processor isn't great.

Which wall charger are you guys using, obviously the 2 pin supplied is useless here in the UK...
Volts/amp?
I've got a charger that's 5v/1500amp, and it seems to take an age to charge...
Mine arrived today despite tracking stating it had just left China hours ago. Dont trust the tracking info on Aliexpress....

Happy with my purchase, everything seems to be fine with it.

They were £60 last year , £151 in person now or £171 ( plus cost of recorded delivery both ways) by post. They take 4 days eg take up on the Monday and ready to collect on the Thursday and that is not the express service .
Wow. £171 for a visa! I went to China for one day in March and hiked the wall at Mutianyu (stopover on the way to NZ). You can get in for nothing if you stay for less than 3 days. I was thinking about going back for a week or two but given the cost of a visa now I don't think I'll bother!
This is from Birmingham, is the price the same from London?

How long are the flights?

Cheers!

Don't forget to count the cost of the visa. For a British passport holder it's currently an eye-watering £171.
Where did you get that figure from? I got mine in the london chinese visa centre for £60... only took 4 days as well

Mine was around that figure too but I believe they put their prices up.

Edinburgh to Hong Kong with Qatar Airlines - 07/10-14/10 - £334.00 traveltrolley.co.uk

A good deal from Edinburgh with a five star airline, though there is a 15 hour overnight stopover in Doha on the way and 7.5 hours on the way back.

I wouldn't book with them ever again. I booked with their cheap fare to NZ - they have cancelled the flight and will only book me on flights for the same dates if i pay the difference (over £2000). So I'll have to book a flight with another airline to make the wedding. There are a total nightmare to deal with when things go wrong.

I think Qatar are living on a past reputation for service anyway. I have taken 4 long haul flights recently as one booking and each flight we encountered different levels of service from poor to adequate, some staff looked like they couldn't be bothered to serve you and even flicked the wine bottle top off and just stared at me.... Very wired indeed. Also some flights they gave out menus and others they didn't and one of those times there was only one choice on board so what's the point in handing a menu out. Anyway they have modern planes (just don't fly on airbus a330 or 787 dreamliner definitely no dreaming to be done on these as no leg space and long recline of seat in front. And tickets are generally pretty cheap with good ife so most won't care just don't expect emeriates or Singapore levels of service.

I've done the long stopover in Doha - it's hell.

3am, the business lounge is deserted... nobody for company but fluffy camels in the gift shop window and the occasional migrant labourer waxing the floors.

Personally, I've learned that acceptable flight times and minimal transfer times are worth every penny... but I guess this will work for someone. If possible, I'd break it up with a couple of nights in town. The gulf transfers are enough to ruin the rest of your holiday.

Good one but it is rather amusing to see Qatar Airways being referred to as a 5 Star airline :D
It is according to Skytrax:http://www.airlinequality.com/ratings/qatar-airways-rating/

I would say, Qatar Airways is the best out of the cheap/bargain airlines. These rankings can differ from one institution to another. Another one below shows Qatar Airways as the 11th best:

Great fare, and at least both legs are in the 9 abreast 787, which is not quite as bad as the 10 abreast 777. Almost tempted ......

Actually I thought the 777-300er had more leg space than the 787 and was alot more cramped.

I tried yesterday and it was working, today it isn't :(
Anyone managed to get it work? and anyone know the source of the code??
It was working fine for me yesterday and now I can't get it to work with the flights I was interested in or any other random ones I've put in to test it out.

I'm pretty confused and peeved off because I googled yesterday and the expiry date was listed as the 20th of May...?
Has the code expired? It was working when I tried it yesterday. :(

I haven't found any other flights anywhere near as cheap as this for the dates I am interested in.

Edit: typo.

You are wrong on visa costs you do it in person it is £66 and the £80 odd postal. I've checked my statement and that's how much I paid in person. You can see that it is 'fee detail' which you add up to get the the price in the first column not add these onto the price (if that makes sense).
That's not for express but standard.
When did you apply for that visa? According to https://www.visaforchina.org/LON_EN/upload/Attach/mrbj/289577.pdf it's currently £151.
For those applying with an Irish passport, it's £86.
Prices have gone up since the 11th January 2016, so it is £151.

Ah I see. Manchester visa centre need to update their prices then as that screenshot was from their site. Can't believe how much it has gone up!!

It was last year January so perhaps they have gone up - significantly! I can't open that link but the one I posted was from same website but the Manchester Visa for China website so perhaps the Manchester one hasn't been updated?

Either way, check if you are applying for a Visa as it may be expensive. If you live nr Manchester may be worth popping into the office there.

Cathay Pacific obviously much better as is British/HK owned.:)
Cathay Pacific is owned by:
41.97% - Swire Pacific, a Hong Kong company controlled by John Swire & Sons of the UK;
29.99% - Air China, the flag carrier of the PRC and controlled by the state;
2.98% - CITIC Pacific, a de facto investment arm of the PRC government;
25.05% - public shareholders.
Additionally, Cathay Pacific has a 20.13% interest in Air China.
Thanks for the info.
Since HK returned to PROC in 1997,it would come as no surprise to see PROC having a stake in the company.
The company was founded by the Swire family who went to HK during colonial times.:)

Is dealsmachine any good? I've been thinking of ordering a phone and noticed their doing a good price on the K3 Note.
Personally I'd go for the meizu mx4 pro which has more ram, better camera and NFC (for Google pay, it ever arrives in UK)

Only 10 quid more if you buy through the banggood app which gives you a 10% discount. There is both a CM13 release for it and an expected eventual flymeos lollipop upgrade.

Banggood are also amenable to quoting much lower prices than that paid on the customs form...(just say want price you want declared on PayPal note)

Can't fault Turkish Airlines. Gorgeous food on board. Lovely staff. Free hotel & tour of Istanbul included. Great price
Yes thy has one of the best catering company working for them for the food. Not a single complaint I have seen. They are usually more expensive then be.

Another lovely touch is the menu they show you before meals are served.
Turkish Airlines is great. Friendly staff, good food, new aircraft. Much better experience than BA or Virgin. I found it similar in comfort to the big name Middle Eastern ones but without the over the top and classless bling.

is there an sd card slot on the 16gb?
No SD card on ANY Redmi Note 3. Personally I'd go for the plastic Note 2 and stick one of those metal bumper cases on it. They cost less than £2. The Redmi Note 2 16GB (with SD card slot so probably not necessary to go with the 32GB version) costs just £82 herehttp://www.everbuying.net/product1120445.html

Originally I looked at this but after playing with the redmi note 2 for a while I wasn't keen on it anymore..
The MTK chip is annoying and the forum support for note 2 is really unorganised (ie seems like not many has this phone so therefore not many threads or users developing this).
All I'm trying to do is flash developer rom and put gapps on it :( taken 2-3 days so far of force closes and unexpected errors (I've used android and tinkered since android 1.5)...
They've sold almost 10 million of these, which I think is plenty. Also, putting a Rom on is easy, there's forums on Xda. Putting gapps on is very easy, type in google on the mi app store, click on second link (search on beidu) and it should come up. It will be in chinese but it doesn't matter. Install the app and press the blue button then install the gapps. easy
This is Chinese rom yes? I'm trying to avoid this because of malware etc.
Global doesn't have Mi store?
I use the miui stable rom. You can change the language of it after the initial set up which is what I did. I've been using it for almost 2 months now and have experienced no issues tbh. I just installed a custom recovery and then rooted my phone so I could uninstall/ freeze some bloatware but other than that its good. If you want the stock look, there's also an aosp rom so you can get the stock look.
Wouldn't the malware just take your details once you log onto the account? (ie sign in or up to Google etc?)
What Malware lol? There isn't any. Miui even has its own security software.

Originally I looked at this but after playing with the redmi note 2 for a while I wasn't keen on it anymore..
The MTK chip is annoying and the forum support for note 2 is really unorganised (ie seems like not many has this phone so therefore not many threads or users developing this).
All I'm trying to do is flash developer rom and put gapps on it :( taken 2-3 days so far of force closes and unexpected errors (I've used android and tinkered since android 1.5)...

could have sworn I paid about 50 quid for an express 30 day visa in Calcutta this year?

Visa applications, like so many things, seem to be excessively expensive in the UK :(:(:(

It's often cheaper (and sometimes quicker) to apply for a visa from outside the UK

Examples for a single trip Chinese visa for a UK citizen...

1) apply in UK: visa £30 plus an application fee of £66 (standard) or £78 (express)
- cheapest option £96

2) apply in Turkey: visa £20 plus an application fee of £30 (standard) or £46 (express)
- cheapest option £50

3) apply in Netherlands: visa £24 plus an application fee of £39 (standard) or £53 (express)
- cheapest option £63

4) apply in India: visa £27 plus an application fee of £11 (standard) or £12.50 (express)
- cheapest option £38

5) apply in Hong Kong: visa £31 plus an application fee of nothing (standard) or £26 ("rush")
- cheapest option £31

Official links:

Applications from Hong Kong - www.fmcoprc.gov.hk/eng/zgqz/bgfwxx/
Applications from another country - www.visaforchina.org

There are official Chinese visa application service centres in:

United Kingdom - Manchester, London, Edinburgh

Belgium - Brussels
Canada - Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa
Denmark - Copenhagen
France - Paris, Marseille

You pay what you get. I wouldn't recommend to fly with them.
I certainly said that after my last trip. The hotdealer in me is trying hard to forget that experience. Probably worth spending the extra for a better service though.
So is it worth the extra £250 to fly with BA
Don't fly BA either absolutely crap both are the same. save the £250 and fly with these.
rubbish
Not Rubbish mate i travel all over and have been for the last 5 years i would say i fly at least 3-5 times a month and from my experience BA are Crap! don't know about anyone else but from personal experience i won't fly them again just check reviews online most people say they are rubbish! (but again depends on what route you fly) and if it has connections ect.
One of my examples with Ba was almost a 3 day delay offered me to fly Malaysian airlines flight which was a much cheaper flight with 2 stops my original flight was direct, they told me they always double book seats so a lot of the time they ask people to wait in a hotel for the next flight.(was told this by there staff) returned to catch my flight they kept my luggage stored asked 3 times is my luggage boarded got told 3 times "Yes its already on the plane,do not worry" arrive at destination NO Luggage. came 2 days later.

We flew SAS this year open jaw Stockholm--Beijing-Copenhagen for £205. We spent time in Sweden/Lapland for Valentines day and got to see the Northern Lights and Copenhagen after. It was a great trip but yes the flight was very quiet and Beijing airport was near empty! I don't think SAS have the full lie flat seats in business. Their economy was pretty good too.
Hot! Easter holiday dates sounds good not too hot at that time in hk around 25c to 28c.

The £300ish fare was after taxes and charges.
Is the fare you see after tax and surcharges? Zuji usually shows the air fare only, i.e. excludes tax and surcharges.
ninjin
From memory, when you need to log in to your account to amend flight/check in with Virgin, you have to type in your name as it appears on your booking. I.E. when it asked for your first name you type it in as it appears on their paperwork.
So as an example, your name: Peter David Smith. when you enter your first name(s) in the Virgin Box you enter 'peterdavid' and surname box 'smith'.
But to be honest, all the airlines I have flown with only care about your first and surname matching on ticket to passport.

I found I had to use my middle name but I added the space and it found my booking ok, but it is listed with no space on the virgin details.

benjai
Evilsatan
Has anyone else had their first and middle name joined on the booking? i.e. on the e-ticket (and on the Virgin website) it is printed Firstnamemiddlename Surname? I'm not sure if this is a problem or not...
I had this as well and thought it was a bit weird too. I've booked with Virgin directly in the past and checking the old tickets, it seems to drop our middle names. I'm not sure why expedia send middle names joined together to Virgin but I think it should be ok:http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g1-i10702-k4042674-Names_entered_on_air_ticket_without_a_space_between_1st_2nd-Air_Travel.html
And a slightly more reliable looking source: http://passportinfoguide.com/passport-and-middle-name-rules-for-travel/

Thanks :)
Seriously cheap for HK and as typical, after booking with Cathay for £425 which I thought was a big bargain. Anyway bookmared Zuji and expedia HK for future reference. Off I go this sunday 8)

This is listed as a 'freebie' but multiple members have stated that it's in fact a 10% off voucher not a freebie - can you provide further evidence via report that this is incorrect ? thanks
Read the comments. Nobody knows. The "ticket" you get gives you 3 items instead of just the ticket. There is image proof from several members in here. Giving you the ticket, expansion pass & game. Anybody stating this is 10% has no proof. All guesswork by them that should not get a thread shutdown.
Once the full game download is confirmed as being 100% free (which reading the comments it doesn't appear to be currently) we can unexpire, thanks
You read the comments so you can see most members stating that it looks like it is the whole game free, so it's not really fair to ignore them and just focus on a few bunch of people who haven't looked properly who say that it is just a ticket. If you go on the link you'll see a free ticket content and then a SEPARATE content titled
"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Pre-Order + Expansion Pass Pre-Order"
With the description being that of what the full games would be and no mention of the ticket. Also members have shown pictures of their purchase history showing how it would appear if this were the full game. Sure it's not 100% that it is actually the full game that's free but there's more, stronger evidence to show that it is than there is to show that it isn't. Unexpiring this when it is confirmed that it is the full game that is downloadable is pointless because if true this will be expired by then and that's in a months time.
Surely a better option would have been to put it in misc if you were intent on this not being allowed as a valid deal as there's some doubt?
How's your views on the moderating now?

terrible airline, never again
Give me TA over BA every day of the week. Have you even been on one of their flights? Probably not.
Actually flew to Bangkok with them and it was worst 2 flights of my life and that saying something as i travel often
I've travelled Turkish a few times! They are okay to fly with but customer service can be rubbish if you ever run into any issues with them! Can't go wrong if you treat them like a budget airline (which is what I think of BA and many others)! Emirates also was not great recently. Etihad is the best I think! Can you put up any updated dates as I can't find suitable dates now!

So for the people who say its a good airline, you've been lucky.
Rant over.....
It couldn't be that you've been unlucky of course.

You could be right, I might have been unlucky. Though, I fly lots through work, and have been delayed with many airlines.
This month Alone I have travelled with Etihad to Oman, Emirates to Dubai and BA to Egypt. It's obviously my opinion and others will have there's, but for me they have been the worst.

So for the people who say its a good airline, you've been lucky.

It couldn't be that you've been unlucky of course.
Would never use Turkish Airlines again, if it was my choice.

I went to Iraq last year with them, we couldn't land in Basra due to the mist/fog. So we circled for 2 hours, it didn't clear so it was diverted to Kuwait. We sat on the Tarmac for 5 hours, no information from TA at all. Lots of arguments and almost fighting from the Iraqi locals and the TA staff. Even the police came on the flight, still no information from them. Finally we were told, we are going to take off, only to be told we are returning to Istanbul. 15 minutes into the 3.5 hour flight, I'm woken by people running around and raised voices. The raised voices are both pilots and all the crew, running up and down the aisle with extinguishers, the plane is full of grey smoke. There looking in the over head bins and under the seats for 10 minutes. The pilot returns to to cockpit and announces they can't find the source and they are going to blow the air through the plane. This cleared the smoke but you could still smell burning. They announce again they have no alarms on there panel, and then inform us we will continue to Istanbul which is 3 hours away and not return or land at a local airport.

In Istanbul we were told to hang around the airport for a few hours, whilst they sort things out. Again no information for those 2 hours. Finally some information, we are being taken to a hotel. This hotel straight from the 60's yellow smoked stained walls and faulty tower standard of service. They told us we would be informed when we would need to return to the airport. This was now 11pm at night, after a long day most people wanted to sleep. In the hotel we were woken every hour, to be told we are going back to the airport. Only to get to the lobby and be told it was a false alarm. Finally at 5am and no sleep we were taken to the airport, with no sleep or breakfast. At the airport they informed us the flight would leave at 11am????? People asked why we were taken back to the airport so early, and about breakfast. They were basically told to stop asking questions or ignored.

On the return we were delayed again by 4 hours. Missing the connection, so we had nearly a 24 hour wait until the next flight. This time we had a better hotel, though no choice of food from the hotel. We again left the hotel at 5am, before breakfast. So at the airport the question was raised again, breakfast, this time we were told we should of had it at the hotel. When we told them breakfast only starts at 6.30am, they said its not there problem.

So for the people who say its a good airline, you've been lucky. You will only find out if its a good airline, when there are delays or other issues.

Rant over.....

Good find.
If planning a trip like this you might be advised to allow a bit of extra time for connections in China - there are a growing number of delays for domestic and regional flights due to air traffic congestion, you can either book to leave yourself enough time, or take a chance with some fun at the transfer counter.

Thats a good point I have had that problem in Dubai before now

However there seem to be later Flights to Hong Kong on the day of arrival in Beijing at 18.30, 19.30 and 20.30

If there is a delay I am sure you will be on one of them

As an alternative, instead of spending two weeks in Hanoi, split it up with an internal flight to Hue and also take the Scenic coast train down to Danang and Visit Hoi An, Fly out of Danang to Hong Kong. Both the internal flight and train are inexpensive.
what is there to see in Hong Kong? after Tibet I'm working my way there from Beijing in May and I'm wondering if I should go at all with the pollution problem. I'm going to the states when the China visa runs out.

What isn't there to see? Guide book or TripAdvisor app are great.

few days is enough for Hanoi, but you could go out to Ha long Bay for a couple of days then fly down to Hue, some great old emperor tombs, nice beach resorts for a chill out. then take the train from Hue to Danang (very scenic), but get a local or hotel staff to buy your train ticket it will cost only a few pounds, much cheaper than if you buy it as a tourist. Danang is interesting for a day then spend a couple of days at Hoi An, it really lovely. There are many great places in Vietnam, friendly people and the food is superb!

Thinking of 2 or 3 nights in Hanoi.... Any tips would be appreciated!

Don't think I could have made a better suggestion.
If you have more time Sapa in the North of Vietnam is very interesting and relatively easy to get to as well now by Train or New Posh Bus or Car.

Sorry, but what is the problem with copy and pasting from another site? I for one wouldn't know about this unless it appeared here.
its the fact that the OP gave no credit to where they got the deal. They copy and pasted someone else's work and posted it as their own. that is copyright infringement.
the same thing if you copied an ebook and posted it online for all to read without citing the genuine author. you'd be in trouble with the publisher.
it's quite simply theft.
It's not a book, it's an internet post. There is no copyright infringement. It's like saying if I copy and paste a websites blurb on a deal I've found then that is copyright infringement. It's just not. The OP has found a deal, albeit through another website and copied the details from there. Maybe I'm wrong but I see nothing wrong with that. Also, this website is about getting the best deals so sure that is what has happened here.

copying online content is copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
im afraid you ARE wrong

I'm afraid you are a sad ****

Shut up moaning and enjoy the deal.

I think you should actually.

Hot hot!
Just a word of warning, Travel Trolley only take the request for reservation rather than booking a ticket immediately on payment.

They are a part of Southall Travel and were a nightmare to deal with in so much as I would have gotten the flight if I went elsewhere but the rate I booked was sold out / withdrawn so they offered a higher rate.

I'd never use them again.

8 months ago I booked this...... And now I'm finally here, loving it!

Thanks again OP
Zoheb
Booked £325 from Heathrow, flying 26th November returning 30th November.
If you go from Gatwick its £290ish, if you add a stopover on outbound the fare drops to £260ish.

Where did you book this?

Those flights are perfect for me. I'd happily spend 3 days in HK for that money.

If you have never been to Hong Kong your in for a treat. Brings a new meaning to "the city that never sleeps"; London and New York are nothing in comparison. Definitely a place to visit but I couldn't live or work there. Property prices have gone through the roof and make the increases in London/UK seem laughable in comparison - up to 300% in 3 years for ordinary flats.
I would say that 4 days is enough. Go to the mainland and / or go to other areas. Places to visit are Star mountain, the horse race track, airport (lol). I haven't been for ages though, last time was the last year the old airport was used. Landing at that airport was an awesome experience.
Star ferry or mountain? :D

Are you sure you've got the right quote now? ...It still doesn't sound right! :p
I'd like to have checked to make sure as it has been so long since I watched it, but unfortunately checking YouTube any video seemed to be limited to the intro and something pretending to be an episode but is really a series of pictures and computer-generated voices. :|

Have any of you guys that do the region changing come across the PBR9002 error?

I'm having that now, but both MS & CC provider are saying that they're not blocking either end?

from what I have read it is a bank issue, someone will be blocking you

Bank aren't blocking me - however having read about the issue (particularly to the HK MS Store) on another forum it seems a lot of people can't buy from the HK Store. I went to the Indian store and got it for ~£34.90

Thanks for the heads up on the deal :)

If you live in UK this is a terrible offer.

London - Madrid return is about £80 + hold luggage, so you're looking at over £500 for flights. By the time you add 2.5hrs flight to Madrid and 3hrs to make the connection you are looking at overall flight times of more than 21 hrs.

If you want to try the A380 try Emirates at £462 with flight times of 17 - 18hrs.
Great price but 16 hours one way if you could find a direct flight for that amount be an amazing deal
