How? Casein is pretty crucial.

Crucial to what? It's a cheap protein, rendering this a non-deal

Really?
A deal that requires you to buy 4 more items to get the deal price?
I'm reporting this to the deal police.

A deal is a deal, no matter what is required to get that deal. Besides, the £22.50 one time purchase is still a good price.

I could understand if the headline price was shown with 5% off, after all, you only need to buy one item for that. But an extra four items... oO:(:|:p

Edit: This thread is also for the Almat 42 wash Laundry Liquid, over a year ago - not sure the information still applies. Think I might get this for my brother! One day left of the 1/2 price delivery.

Some new codes for Poundland - FEB30 for £3 off £30 spend (thanks to GeenBeen) and FEB10 gives you £1 off £10 (thanks pken04) - if you're not willing to spend £20 or £30.

2-ply toilet roll is a false economy as you use more (Nicky Elite 3-ply devotee here!) but the currently available 9 pack promo packs instore, versus the regular 6 pack, make Silk Soft a decent buy.

DISAGREE:
The "Gold Standard 100% Whey" is actually only 80g protein per 100g serving! or 24g per 30g serving. So only 80% protein content ...labelling / marketing a bit misleading ?
Bulk powder's Pure Isolate Whey is 90% protein content Pure Whey Isolate is £76 per 5kg normal price so £15.20 per kg - and so still cheaper than this Amazon 57% discount sale price ?
BP's Pure Whey Isolate is £15.20 per kg 90% protein so that works out at £17 per kg protein content.
Or their Whey protein is £9.40 per kg 80% protein...so that is £11.80 per kg of protein content.
I know which protein I'd be paying for, brains and brawn, and savings.
Thats why i buy go nutrition 90% whey isolate link
or the protein works isolate but you only get 4kg.
At the moment im buying all this stuff and haven't got any motivation to go and work out. need a boot up my ass got stuck in a rut. 2 kids busy but still have my own gym in the garage
That one works out "Whey" more costly @ £16.44 per kg(90%) so £18.27 per kg of pure protein compared to £11.80
You are paying one and a half times what you need to !

Horrendous company. I bought their last beauty box and 3 of their 5 products were substituted and they didn't respond to my emails!
I ordered some of their mystery beauty boxes and ended up with children's sun screen & a baby comforter - not exactly beauty products. Customer service very slow & hit & miss. I won't be using again.

Thank you I've placed my order :)
Just ordered tons for £12 odd can't wait to get it!!! Hot hot hot thank you ️xxx
I enjoy watching makeup reviews/tutorials now and then - there's not a lot out there about Freedom Makeup currently as they were launched in June.

The single eyeshadows got a huge wow from one blogger here http://www.chocolateandlipstick.com/2015/06/freedom-makeup-london-mono-eyeshadows.html"...the Freedom Makeup London mono eyeshadows, especially the shimmers and metallics, have a lovely and smooth textured formula that has long lasting longevity, best with primer though unnecessary, does not crease over any period of time, does not smudge, or budge, and throughout the day, stays as vibrant as when first applied. To be perfectly honest, I was beyond impressed. I just wish there was more mattes in the neutrals and brights, as well as more duo chromes as opposed to the single."

Finding comments about the different eyeshadow palettes is tricky as there's not a lot out there, but I bought Audacious Mattes - should receive it tomorrow. Can see a great review on Beauty Crowd left about that one, can't find much else about it. Fancy Romance & Jewels palette too (uber foily apparently) though I'm thinking of going for Makeup Revolution's Iconic Pro 2 (dupe of Lorac Pro 2).

Here's some swatches of the Freedom lipsticks http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-R2Tjd8ECtMk/VYF6Z1S-96I/AAAAAAAAhP0/QC5_pfgXbWk/s640/freedon%2Blondon%2B3.1.jpg and here http://aqeelakeela.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/brand-introduction-freedom-makeup-pro.html

I gathered together a few reviews when I posted on MSE about a recent Freedom offer, I'll c&p them here.

Freedom Makeup Pro Conceal & Correct Palette in Light http://www.missmakeupmagpie.com/2015/06/freedom-makeup-pro-conceal-and-correct-palette.html and http://buttonnailslovesmakeup.com/2015/06/15/freedom-makeup-london-pro-conceal-correct-palette-5-review/

Dark Pro Conceal & Correct palette review http://www.beautycrowd.com/products/freedom-pro-conceal-and-correct?variant=2630328260 (click on Customer Reviews) and https://luceluxelifestyle.wordpress.com/2015/06/13/b-e-a-u-t-y-c-o-r-r-e-c-t-c-o-n-c-e-a-l/

Pro Conceal & Correct (corrector palette) https://shaunajb.wordpress.com/2015/07/10/freedom-makeup-pro-correct-palette-swatches-and-review/

Quite a few are raving about the Freedom/MAC Conceal & Correct dupes.

Eyeshadow Palettes: http://www.beautycrowd.com/products/freedom-pro-12-eyeshadow-palettes (click on Customer Reviews) ...the review about Audacious Mattes looks promising, the other for Stunning Smokes, not so much. *The negative reviewer seems to have taken it back in an updated review!
This reviewer absolutely adores Stunning Smokes and Romance & Jewels! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtlAqwlN6Tw
Swatches of Pro 12 Le Fabuleux, Pro 12 Audacious 3 and Pro 12 Secret Rose: http://emmabeautyhauls.com/tag/palettes/
Swatches of Pro 12 Chasing Rainbows: https://heavenzannysskincareandmakeuptips.wordpress.com/2015/06/13/the-new-freedom-makeup-london-from-the-same-people-that-makes-makeup-revolution/
Pro 12 Romance & Jewels (quite fancy this, very foily and metallic, seen a few rave reviews) http://www.jordanalice.co.uk/2015/06/freedom-makeup-pro-12-eyeshadow-palette.html
"I loved the obvious similarity to the NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette, but if I'm honest, it was the mix of different shades that drew me in. The shades are extremely soft, blend effortlessly and have no fall out. I never expected to say this, but I already prefer these eyeshadows to my Makeup Revolution ones. They feel much more luxurious."
Swatches of Dreamcatcher: http://www.mummysbeautycorner.com/2015/06/freedom-makeup-pro12-dreamcatcher.html

From what I can gather reading and watching Youtube, Freedom lipsticks are reckoned to be waxy. The verdict is they can be hit and miss, a bit like Makeup Revolution's (surprised, as I thought MUR's lipsticks got unanimous praise).

A review here comments that the nail varnishes are a "different and improved" formula to MUR and seems impressed http://www.teapartybeauty.com/2015/06/freedom-makeup-is-here-review.html/#
She also mentions about their lipsticks "The Freedom Makeup formula and quality is a lot better than the MUA ones, and slightly better than the MUR ones, I tested and put them to the test when I was off work on Friday. They last pretty well, but as with most lippies that aren’t matte they will need reapplying after food or a lot of drinking/talking.."

Simple maths proves it is to be honest. Excluding the Lemon energy pack.
70g at 74p means 980g of whey powder (14 packs for £10.36). Not bad at all.

Can be cheaper in larger packets (world food aisle or Asian supermarkets) but 10+ large bags of herbs is not always practical for the average kitchen.
Can be a lot cheaper, take coriander seeds for example, which I bought a bag of a few weeks ago in a Tesco delivery:http://img.tesco.com/Groceries/pi/551/5052320673551/IDShot_225x225.jpg

Little tub is five times more expensive!
Unfortunately it's fairly awkward to have a whole large bag. The ease of a small jar is much more realistic (and looks nicer in a spice rack).
It's so awkward yeah I agree, not sure how I managed to get it out of the carrier bag it was delivered in, it's a damn pain every time I want something from it, must add on about 4 hours to my cooking preparation time (_;)

I meant in terms of using it. Your kitchen must look lovely with a pile of 25 different bags of spices, rather than a nicely organised spice rack...
WonderWoman
I know that many of the herbs & spices are ALOT cheaper in larger packets in the world food isles/stores etc..But to be fair, unless you regularly use lots of certain ones it can be a 'false economy'. Even if you empty the larger packs into airtight containers, over time the flavours can & will eventually diminish. Depending on how often you use them, it should make more sense to buy small & often (as this deal implies) to get the best flavour you can. HOT from me OP btw! Great Price :)

Dried herbs and spices last up to 4 years! I've got stuff in small jars from the Asda from about 6 years ago and they're still fine :{
FoX5
Hi WonderWoman lol I can't believe your name X) Its definitly true that for a normal house herbs and spices are not bought in bulk. Its cheaper if you do but who's using that much?

You seem to know an awful lot about 'normal' households, same as the demographic of West Yorkshire eh? lol

Sorry thought someone said 35g per 100g.
35% protein? If you're after a proper amount (80 to 97%) go to GoNutrition or Bulk Powders (NW105017 gives u £5 off ur first order at Bulk)
USN is always on clearance in DW sports (£20ish) plus anything over £35 for 2kg branded isn't really that much of a deal - cold sorry
FYI all, was in DW sports this morning and they have a huge sale on USN stuff, worth a look if you have one local

I usually use an East End mild madras powder, and adjust heat by adding cayenne, fresh chillies or flakes. Everyone seems to love my curries so I reckon it's good. Not as good as making your own of course but good enough for everyday.

Wasnt sure what this was just hot chocolate then.
I sense the antipodeans flocking to this deal...

(Having lived in oz/nz for some time) I've never really seen the fascination with Milo. Don't mention the likes of Tim-Tams or Cherry Ripes, or they'll all be moaning (and they call us whinging poms) about how great everything is back in oz and how expensive the oz shops in the UK are nowadays.

Everyone knows the UK has the best Tim-Tams (Penguins), Vegimite (Marmite, although vegi is better than nz marmite!), Weetbix (Weetabix). P.S NZ invented the pavlova...
Milo for those days when you're feeling too cheap to drink a proper drink.

Is it a good washing powder, never used it before.

We bought this at £5 in Iceland thinking it was a great deal. We had used Daz up 'til then. Had a couple of clogging issues in the powder tray and some residual powder stains on some very dark clothes. We use it to wash "Builders" clothes now and probably wont bother again.

It's a good deal if slim fast works for you. I'd advise anyone who hasn't done it to try it first before stocking up. I lasted two days on it. I felt really faint from not eating properly. Have since started slimming world again which is far better for me. I lost just over a stone in 5 weeks last year with it.
Trying to loose weight? Have a milkshake. LOL
I use the shakes as a way of controlling my calorie intake. It generally makes things a bit easier when you don't have to think about how many calories are in this meal or can I afford to eat that. In the past month I've lost about 10lbs using slimfast. I lost over a stone last year using it before I went on holiday too.
does this powder really works?

Can someone please create a thread on nappy offers pleaseeeee? it is doing my head in looking for offers. oO
hi have you looked into reuseable nappies they are cheaper in the long run bamboo is the best as they get softer each time you wash them and i found my baby didnt get nappy rash with them which was lucky as i didnt want to use sudo crem as its bad for the babys skin anything with propyls or parabens in are harmful to the skin and can cause cancer so although it gets rid of the nappy rash in the long run its not good for him
Asda baby event online as from today. Although I did get the johnstons baby bath cheaper at my local tesco.
Poundland has the baby bath, baby lotion, baby shampoo and baby oil all for a quid each funnily enough :D
anyone know if Aldi have a baby event on?

I don't know if it helps but I went to antenatal class on Sat and they said baby powder is a big no no nowadays, they advised us to chuck it out which came as a bit of a shock as all the couples had stocked up already :(

why?

It was something to do with blocking pores and being breathed in, the health visitor said the same thing so it must be correct.

Superb answer, much appreciated
Not a question I have an educated answer about - suspect my recently degreed friend would have the answers in her notes somewhere at least :).

Google suggests all sorts of figures (that may actually agree with each other) - for instance Livestrong which cites references says:
>>Absorption of amino acids is a part of the digestion process. One of the best-absorbing proteins is whey. According to Helen Kollias, Ph.D., a muscle development specialist, whey protein absorbs at a rate of 8-to-10 g per hour<<
>>The amount of time it takes for your body to digest whole proteins varies based on the source of the protein. Some proteins, such as whey, digest quickly, while others, such as casein, digest at a much slower rate.
<<
http://www.livestrong.com/article/532626-how-much-protein-can-be-digested-per-hour/

Others go in to more detail about Casein, but don't cite sources.

Oh and I'll add - cycled back from climbing and had a good few calories 'left' for today, so just had some skimmed milk instead of a protein shake - though suspect a protein shake may still be cheaper per gram of protein.

Edited By: _g_ on Sep 20, 2012 01:41: Adding waffle.

how long does it take to digest casein into amino acids that the body can use. same queston for whey too.
a very simple question
Casein is slow release, while Whey is quick release.
So the idea is that you'd say have Casein just before you go to bed so that your body receives a steady 'drip' of protein, while you'd have Whey just after a workout so that the freshly torn muscles get a quick 'hit'. (My friend who's just completed a human biology degree confirmed that this bit at least did have some science behind it.)
I often have it in the mornings for similar reasons - just to keep my body topped up generally if I'm just having cereal or whatever for breakfast.

Done in a normal shaker this one makes a lot thicker Shake than Whey with a more 'deserty' taste/texture (said friend had the ON Whey in the same flavour which I compared it with so it's not just a brand thing). And, as above can also make a very nice mouse with some ice and a blender.
Never tried casein before, any one know if its worth it?
