Is Terminator Genisys any good or have they ruined the entire franchise?

No Terminator film is as good as Terminator 2, there's only two Terminator films 1 & 2, the rest are worthless.

People always forget Terminator 3 which is a good film.
Nice to see someone else who thinks the same. T3 had balls with there ending, T4 brought us nothing new & T5 was enjoyable but a messy film. T1 & T2 are classics as u all know.
In my opinion - T1 5/5 - T2 5/5 - T3 4/5 - T4 3/5 - T5 3.5/5

What company is it? None in the title. Or is this a mystery tour.

Well I've taken it and it's Zoom. Decent range of blurays in their two for a tenner deal. Will avail myself of a couple. Cheers.

You couldn't be more wrong. DVD is far drop dead I mean they do bring in billions a year.. Older movies look much better on dvd they just don't look right on blu ray... And I would much prefer to go buy the movie I want to watch cheap on dvd and have good surround sound unlike watching it on streaming services like nowtv and Amazon where the audio sucks... Unless it's an action movie with fancy CGI I will buy dvd especially anything in the 80s early 90s... Dvd will be around for a long time a lot of people still don't even have a Blu Ray player and don't even care about blu rays

It says steelbook, so its a steelbook. If its not, its going back and i'm getting a refund.
Gone for it, thanks :) Ghostbusters steelbook also £7.99
Is Ghostbusters a real steelbook?
The steelbook scene is largely BS these days. I've got some worth quite a bit of money though. Anyway I've stopped collecting them. I wouldn't buy them just because they're a steelbook.
Who cares if they're worth money? They're a really lovely item to own. That's why I buy them. So shoot me.
I was stating a fact that I have some steelbooks worth more than I bought them for. Whether you care or not is none of my business. I'm fully aware of the novelty factor in collecting steelbooks, I was an avid collector and my collection is worth a few grand.
The reason I stated the steelbook scene is BS because Zavvi and other produce 'limited' editions, which aren't limited editions in effect. It's always good to be wise financially so that's another reason to think before you buy. One day these items will be redundant and knowing their worth is valuable.
Yeah but what I forgot to say was that I don't buy them to be an investment I buy them because I really like the film and I really like to have it in a fancy case. I have very rarely paid over a tenner. Their value now or in 25 years is an irrelevance because I only buy steelbooks of films I really like and I'm going to be watching again and again. I'd say that's probably why the majority of people buy them so anyone who offers up steelbooks is cool.
Likewise. I only buy them if it's something I will treasure. I paid extra for Silent Running - that steelbook is sooo nice, it' resonates with the film, and the regular case was over a tenner anyway.. it adds to the experience, but that's subjective..
But always checking for feedback and reviews of the steelbook prior to purchase to see if it's actually worth it. There definitely are some cynical examples out there, but usually you can usually weed them out by searching for a good pic or a video on youtube.. Caveat emptor
With a couple of exception I've bought at keen prices... could break even by selling them on.. but generally the J-card's coming off and I'm not too bothered about them as the film is staying on my shelf.. :)
Reviews? The only review I do is with my eyes - "that looks amaziiiing" and I click to buy :p I don't think so far ANY of my blu-ray steelbooks are duplicates of the original standard blu-ray which I'm very happy about. I think I paid a little bit more for my Independence Day blu-ray and although disappointed it's not the extended version, the steelbook is absolutely beautiful.

I'll have to check that out !

One of my favourite ones is the french version of Terminator Salvation. I love this film despite what the critics say. :p I found in a cash convertors for £2.. probably because they couldn't find it on ebay..

Can't find a good picture this doesn't do it any justice..

I am emailing in regards to your order of The Terminator Blu-ray.

Unfortunately we have had an issue with the listing, the original listing did say a steelbook was included however we were misinformed via our suppliers and its actually the standard edition with no steelbook. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

We have changed the listing title however we have been made aware that others sites have listed our game with the steelbook so we just wanted to email and keep you updated.

Your order has currently been put on hold, can you please let me know if you want the order cancelling or sending?

So now you're just picking out random words and making up imaginary sentences with them. I grow weary of your nonsensical ramblings so like it, hate it, I really don't care...
no no no no no no. don't do it. cheap or not just don't buy this terrible film. heat as yes its cheapest available but for what it's worth this film finishes off the already dying franchise.
Man I get so tired of internet hyperbole. All the Terminator films are good - it's just that some are better than others.
If you want to bleet on about genuinely poor sequels try the follow ups to: From Dusk Till Dawn, Psycho, Taken, Dumb and Dumber, The Exorcist...
Completely agree. Anything less than the standard of the first two movies is considered a "coaster" or "stinker" etc... by the morons at a keyboard. I thought this movie was pretty good - nowt special but certainly not as trashy as people make out.
So I'm a moron because I think this particular film stinks?
The truth is it's a cold deal, because this is destined for bargain bins - as it is UNIVERSALLY HATED (rotten tomatoes 26% metacrtic 38%) due to being cynical cash in garbage.
But you are very welcome to your opinion.
See this is the sort of irritating, attention seeking nonsense I'm talking about. IMDB is a much better indicator of what most people think - and Genisys is at 6.6/10 on there. When you bear in mind the number of aforementioned morons that no doubt give this a knee jerk 1/10 just because it wasn't the best in the series then it's a perfectly respectable average score.
So again everyone who doesn't like Terminator Genisys is a moron? Why?

"Metacritic aggregates music, game, tv, and movie reviews from the leading critics "
... Or "knee jerk morons" according to some guy on HUKD with a very inflated sense of his own importance.

Best to worst:
Terminator 2 > Terminator 1 > Terminator 5 > Terminator 3
The only reason T5 isn't as bad as T3 is because of all the fanservice it has. And no, I did not leave Terminator 4 out. It's just not a real Terminator movie without Arnold.
/imo

You left out terminal 5 that just sneaks ahead of terminator 5...
Honest to God, I wouldn't be paid £7.20 to watch this again it was so poor.
it is a terrible terrible movie - you might enjoy the first 30min as it basically throws scenes from the previous movies at you but then it has to do it's own thing, and that thing should have been prevented from existing.
not doubting it's the cheapest it's ever been, but being kicked in the nuts isn't worth paying for regardless of price and neither is this.
The first half is just a terrible remake of Terminator 2 which would make anyone wish they'd be watching the original Terminator 2 movie instead.

use chewuaki1 to get it for £0.2P. Using this code u can get another 4 movies for the same price. works for both new and existing accounts
For anyone wondering, the uv copy from the Spectre Blu-ray redeems on either Blinkbox (now TalkTalk), Flixster and Google play. I go with Blinkbox/TalkTalk as my tv (LG) has the Blinkbox app so I can view it as if I'm on the Wuaki tv app. Same with the uv code from the 23 film Bond Blu-ray collection. Nice to have the whole Bond collection available at the push of a button.

So once you have watched the film how do you get paid the £9? ....:p

Plot seemed like garbage to me so I have to admit I have not seen it..
I don't know what everyone else was watching but it was a good movie for me. If everyone hadn't moaned about Salvation so much they probably wouldn't have done a reboot - so they give people what they wanted......and they still moan :|
BuzzDuraband
Well done, Dave. A Terminator Genesis deal that's gone hot. You have now completed HUKD.
Heat added mate, I didn't think it was a bad film to be honest, admittedly I did go in with low expectations.
Pretty much how I felt about it too. I liked it, but not a lot, as a great magician once said.
yeah there is that trade off between money and art, but there has been a noticeble trend towards blockbuster movies in recent times. You reference Cape Fear and Scarface but they are examples of great remakes! I just think back over recent times and remakes of nightmare on elmstreet, the italian job, Carrie, Fright Night, Psycho, Dracula, Charlie and the chocolate factory etc etc have all been poor. some of these films you cannot recreate because the originals (or known versions) are unique. Apparently the new Dad's Army is rubbish, Starsky and Hutch film was rubbish...again trading off the tv series name. The Lone Ranger, another example and random choice.

It is not a bad film, certainly it was better than the previous two. It's main flaw is that it was, Arnie excepted, badly cast.

Agree with you on the casting. Even Emilia Clarke was shocking in this.
£10 for a blockbuster on Blu-ray 3D that came out less than three months is a good deal, however you want to rate the film. Heat from me too.

I liked the movie, great deal.
-27 for a 3D blu ray of a recent release? Ridiculous, have some heat.

I don't even think it was all that bad, not as bad as some make out anyway.

It means there are 4 of them....
And there was me thinking there were 5!
There's definitely only 4 Terminator films, what are you on about?
terminator
terminator 2 judgement day
terminator 3 rise of the machines
terminator salvation
terminator genesys
that's 5
That last one isn't a movie, it's a travesty
It really wasn't that bad. I love the series and was expecting Genisys to be a stinker but it was actually fairly enjoyable. Hated that it was quite PG though.

And there was me thinking there were 5!
There are 4 movies in this Quadrilogy. Which part of this don't you understand?

OK - I'll spell it out. I would have thought you either, like me, would would just the first and second films in individual cases, or if you did want 3 and 4, then surely you would want 5 as well? I suppose you could buy the fifth individually, but it seems a bit pointless having a quadrilogy, or tetralogy, quartet, whatever you want to call it.

Congratulations, you've been here for a month and you're already on at least one ignore list. That's got to be up there in the record books somewhere.
Trolls aren't really welcome here.
He's got a point though. This isn't really a good deal - if you want to donate to the Salvation Army you don't need to buy an old 1980s single to do it.

If he'd bothered to look, it's a completely new version so it technically isn't an old 1980's single but never mind.

99p for a single, and an old one at that. Why is that a good deal?. Cold.
Because it's for a charity at Christmas that tirelessly volunteer their time and labour and do good work across the country.
I really shouldn't need to point that out.
This is HotUKDeals, not HotUKCharities. Preaching should be done somewhere else.
If you had been here for longer than a month and bothered to look around then you would see that several similar threads have been posted in the past. Or maybe I'm expecting a little bit too much there, I don't know.
In any case nobody is preaching anything. You don't like, just scroll down and move on.

I found somewhere more appropriate for your future charity postings.

There's a difference between goods in a shop and a movie, also I never said I pirated movies, I said I don't bother to the point to pay to watch them. These people are making fortunes from movies, with or without me buying a cinema ticket or a DVD, there's already enough people who worship them. And for my mentality, if we all thought the same we would survive without movies because with my mentality we don't really care.

What's the difference between stealing goods from a shop and pirating a movie?

(I'm not saying you pirate movies, but you say there's a difference, so I'm just curious what you think it is.)

Don't believe it i literally paid £20 for this on amazon a couple of days ago. It's really really good and i was impressed with the quality of the Sarah Connor polaroid.

Ask them if you can return it because you've found it cheaper elsewhere, it's unlikely but they may refund you the difference (there would be more chance if Amazon had it cheaper). It's worth a shot (return or refund with Amazon) if you have a store near you and can pick one up.

Nice to see one of these books in-store, they're usually on-line these days.

It actually worked, i sent an email to amazon telling them the situation with a link to The Works page. Just got a message saying they're making a "one-time exception" and have refunded me the difference of £10.40. Can't complain with that service.

Thanks!

Wonder if the directors cut includes the Christian Bale's expletive filled tirade

In all seriousness, this is a good deal but this was a pretty weak movie.

Similarly most of T3 isn't that great but it had a pretty good ending which almost made up for it. Genisys feels like it was made by a fan rather than a professional given all the forced fan-service that litters that movie. It's like a hodge-podge of "remember this bit in the previous movies?" moments.
IMO a good film. moving away from the aging Arny & branching out to new cast yes Sam Worthington can't act and Christian Bale is a nut. but fleshing out the story of how people survived after the nukes and the collection of people was a good touch, and generally an enjoyable film!

I was actually sad to see that sent back to Arnie ...
Hopefully I will never see Genisys again. Wrong cast, ill advised humour and no grit! The CGI was pretty weak too (that helicopter scene..eugh)
ykhan16
Salvation was a decent standalone movie alongside the first films and maybe if the script was better it could have been really good. Genisys though seems to meddle too much with the original movies and you really shouldnt do that. It's definitely a sequel too far and a reboot now would have been alot more appropriate and the integrity of the first films would have been maintained.
Think the key issue is Schwarzenegger. I'm guessing the film makers dont believe there can be a Terminator film without him. In fact its pretty obvious the whole script was written around having an older terminator.
Please stop making sequels or just reboot it!
It didn't even need a reboot, just a new story. Forget Connor and trying top stop the future, that story has been told - even a story set soon after Judgement Day with a handful of survivors would be better than flogging the dead horse. There was a rumor once that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was being eyed to play a new model Terminator. I detested the idea, but in hindsight that would make far more sense than having a 60 year old robot coming back again and again.

The machines rise and with all of their superior technology they keep pumping out the same looking clone again and again. Infiltration units? The next model may as well be called Snake and come equipped with a cardboard box. Much more effective disguise.

The bad boys police station scene has to be one of the worst in maybe Cinema history, let alone Terminator.
That said when I first watched Salvation I thought it had ruined my life with its badness.....i've come to accept it and probably seen it 5 times.
How could you waste your time, especially with so many great films out there, watching a movie you viewed as really bad then became nothing more than acceptable, five times!
Were you bed ridden and unable to take the disc out of the dvd player. :p

Hehe point taken, i wanted to give it a proper chance. There's a few scenes that arent too bad like the opening attack on the satellite site......taken on its own its a fair movie, just a crap Terminator one.

The drone scene, Kyle Reese's casting & the USB socket on a Terminator still has me pulling my eyeballs out mind.

I loaded the Arnie one into my Waze app last week, it's fun for the first day but after a thousand miles it can get REALLY tiresome, it's not particularly clear and the "Make a right turn.......hu-man" joke is just plain embarrassing if you have someone in the car with you.
