Do you need to have working wifi internet access or can I stream something from my phone via Bluetooth?
Do you transmit to it via WiFi or does your tablet\phone have to have miracast software installed?
Had one for a while and pretty solid with my android devices, not tested with iOS as not a fanboy but easy switch it seems. So its a yes from me, advantage over Chromecast works both android and iOS and way cheaper.
Any good for YouTube?
Can someone kindly state the benefits or pros/cons of this over Chromecast?
I am also tempted in purchasing an Android TV/Media box for around the £40-£50 mark.
Thanks if anyone should reply.

I have a few Airplay speakers around the house and would't buy any Airplay speaker again, I find the technology unstable, connection dropping, limited range, etc and IMO it is now surpassed by Chromecast which is much more reliable.

Also, unlike Bluetooth, Airplay doesn't connect automatically (you have to actively pair each time to cast) is there a way to make Airplay speakers connect automatically, say when you turn the speaker on?

You would need to buy a Bluetooth adapter and connect it to the 3.5mm audio input. Also the battery life is only about 8 hours at 50% volume, that was probably good back in 2012, but you can get similar products that run well over 20 hours on battery now.

Well pointed with facts.

I love the portability, with an 8 hour battery life It will be joining me on holiday, on my travels, around various rooms in the house and anywhere i need to keep my tunes. You can save 5 internet radio stations using an APP which can then be selected with a touch of the control panel on the top, which also offers volume control, track skip and stereo pairing of another Libratone speaker.I recorded a quick video comparing this to a Sonos play3... my previous favorite speaker. The Sonos is still a great speaker and after numerous tests I might even say has the better bass notes but when you add together all the other benefits of the Zipp mini there's no competition... . The Zipp mini supports Bluetooth streaming meaning I can play audio from any device playing any source... I am a big Youtube fan and it has always frustrated me that I couldn't play the sound through Sonos... frustration no more!! Not to mention that the Zipp can be battery powered, so it can come into the shower room or into the garden easier than running extension cables for the Sonos.

Not sure why this review mentions the zipp mini. The non-mini is miles better in terms of sound Quality.
Great piece of kit. Great sound for a portable and the only real choice if you need airplay. Amazon had the standard version at 150ish until this week but never seen the Copenhagen at this price, good spot.
Normally when you try and post any Libratone offer you end up with the post going cold very quickly! You managed to get 21 degrees so far so that must be a record!

These are really quite good units and soon will be getting some improvements via a firmware upgrade.

Cheers! Look, I know Sonos have been doing multiroom for a long time and their products are great and the app, refined. But as this is a deals site, and I guess a lot of people here don't have a grand or more to spend - you can buy three of these for under £300 and there you have it. Multiroom Audio!

Then you could buy a Stealth Soundbar (on Amazon) for £160 and then you'd have a home cinema and multiroom kit combined.

The voting on this site is impossible to fathom! There are only a few factors to consider if something is a deal or not:

Is the deal a good price? (Tick, as £169 on Amazon.)

That is it but there seems to be some other criteria used:

Is the item esoteric? (Most vote cold for Yes and hot for No.)
Is the device an Apple product? (Vote down for Yes and up for No.)
Is the device Android based? (Vote up for Yes and down for No.)
Is it a known make? (Vote up for Yes and down for No, even if it is well known but the voter has no idea!)
Is the item a one off deal? (Vote up, the bigger the wild goose chase the better or vote down if not.)

This seems to be the fundamentals of this site. A big improvement could be made if you could only vote cold by giving a comment.
Good price, got these recently and well worth it at this price - buy 2!

Price has gone up
I was about to order this until I read the manual and realised the 2nd HDMI output is simply a clone of the first one. It's not a 'zone 2 HDMI' output which would allow different sources to be shown in each HDMI output so it's doing nothing that a £15 HDMI splitter wouldn't do. Also, as with many (older) dual zone AMPs the zone 2 can only play from analogue sources just like my ageing Denon AVR 2307.

Also noticed it was for Prime members only (not a problem as you can get a 1 month trial) and also seems to have gone up to €399 now.

First of all there isn't much difference between the 06 and newer 07 series. So don't worry about that. But there is a difference between the 1506 and 1606. The 1606 supports Atmos and DTS-X. If you are not worried about those then that price is a bargain!

Does anyone still have this unit that they don't use and no-longer want the remote? My kids have done the worst thing possible and lost the remote!!!
Two things here. You can power this via usb if you have the correct cable, so that would discount the PSU being broken (albeit the USB cable I have doesn't provide 2A as per the PSU, I run it no probs with no USB devices).

Secondly, if the remote is broken, you can soft boot the unit with a little-known reset button on the bottom of the unit. That said if you know you have power and it doesn't boot on power-up, that's not much use.

So, what Kelhaggagi said. And make sure your TV is on the right channel! **NB This unit DOES have an LED on it - just not very bright** When the unit is in operation there's a faint blue LED on the left hand side of the front panel.
Jasee, it could be either the box or the remote. As far as I know the remote that comes with it is the only way to turn it on. Replace the batteries and get close to the box. If you also plug in a USB stick into the box that has a light on it you will be able to see if the box is actually powering up and just not outputting. As they are quiet boxes that don't have lights on them it is hard to tell if they are powering up or not.

Purely for Kodi, an Amlogic MXQ with OpenELEC is a good choice. £25 or so.

Did you have any issue with loading new version of Play Store onto MXQ?
Bit late to the party, but I don't see any advantage in purchase from Far East when same is available ex-UK for less outlay with a better chance of warranty options if required, unless the buyer is a gambler and likes the possibility of being hit with £14 import&admin fees and near-unenforceable warranty for zero advantage. Suggest consider under £29 ex-UK, example: ebay.co.uk/itm…378 or even alternative at under £24 ex-UK ebay.co.uk/itm…552 although personally I would err towards minimum of s905-based box starting at similar money.

Please can you post a link to the updated firnware, I couldn't find … Please can you post a link to the updated firnware, I couldn't find anything...?

Apologies for late reply.
All I did on one of the 1st units I received (I got 3) was click on update on its webpage, it seemed like it was loading something and then the unit automatically rebooted. After restarting ( I had to re-pair with Wifi) I noticed it stayed online always and never went offline. I tried to do the same procedure on the other two units and noticed the update page asks you to select a firmware file. Since then, I have this one unit that never sleeps and the other two always sleep in a couple of minutes of inactivity, which is weird.

Doesn't sound like a firmware update is a good idea!

Why because no one can find it oO
Any update on firmware?
Would love to get the firmware update. Please post a link
Well I've googled for ages but can't find any mention of a firmware update for this speaker. Current firmware is from 2013.
