Looking at the sound formats you would need to get 7.1 you needs Dolby digital plus or Dolby TrueHD both of which most amps can deal with but the sources of these is probably limited to BlueRay mostly

The difference between broadcast/streamed 5.1 and the hd audio you get on blu rays just using 5.1 is massive, proper room filling sound rather than the overly directional surround effects.

It's hard enough to get a lot of films to care about 5.1 surround, I really would think twice about 7.1

That means stereo. It means big speakers. It means quality, discrete, mostly analogue electronics. Because that model delivers the best, most authentic, most immersive experience. It's all about quality. Quality analogue electronics don't come cheap; Quality full range speakers don't come small.Bluetooth speakers, sound bars, surround-sound-in-a-box, even Sonos: It's all just mass market, plastic, convenience-driven, short-life-span, disposable crap. Like it or not, it doesn't even hold a candle to the best technology of the 1950s (e.g. Quad ESL57 & Quad II). Not by a long shot. For that reason, much of that equipment still exists and is still serviceable, 60 years later! More broadly speaking, there's still a niche but significant market for traditional stereo HiFi today, despite prolonged predictions of its demise. It's not gone away because it's still the benchmark for performance, whatever the budget.Components like these Tannoy speakers reside near the bottom of the ladder, but with a decent amp, they'll comfortably out-perform any mass-market, app-controlled, wireless, one-box widget. Try it

I'd hate to think what my HiFi costs, I know it's in thousands.
It annoys me when I go to a retailer and they insist on giving me a demo of some "magic" box that does everything, just because I was curious having a look at it, then I cringe when they proceed to tell me how I will be blown away and that hifi separates are outdated.

True active speakers (i.e. crossover before amplification) have also been around for decades, and can offer some of the very best performance and value. In fact, that's what I use (ATC). I've also had plenty of passive kit. That can sound just as spectacular - but usually at greater expense and with more clutter than a well sorted active system. Dynaudio kit is almost all superb, active or passive. There's no 'one way' to do it when it comes to performance, and personal preference also comes into it. I should also say that you can still enjoy convenience and performance, but just don't expect both from one small box.

No that I can entirely agree :-) sorry it s just I see too many people defending 80's hifi tech. In the end because of this it s hard to find a goood affordable active, digital souce and wireless system. Yes atc dynaudio kef etc...do a very good job but it s not very affordable is it?

I agree for the mono crappy speakers where people go for covinience of …I agree for the mono crappy speakers where people go for covinience of smartphone bluetooth connection rather than quality. But you are so wrong in saying that 80's passive speakers with separate elements are better than today s technology. Look up dynaudio activ speakers for example. Wireless is done by wifi which has almost no loss compared to bluetooth. Real active spraker use one amp per woofer and tweeter which is much better than loss prone passive filters. This tech has been used in studio monitors for years and for a good reason. Your kind of reasoning is why most modern hifi is either crap mono bluetooth speaker or 80 s outdated tech. It s sad how much progress we have made in so many industries but hifi. I used active studio monitors and feed them wireless music through a 30 pound chromecast audio and I m very happy with the sound. My wife not so much with the looks. Sadly only a couple brands like dynaudio kef are ready to take the technology leap...because of you 80 s music ancestors sad....tannoy makes great studio monitor I dare to try the 8 inch reveal against those tower speakers

The box may be a lot bigger than the speakers due to excessive protective packaging. Worth a check as you like them. Otherwise a shame but you'll find some other speakers soon and they will be worth the wait

I made a rough cardboard model with the dimensions from Tannoy's website and unfortunately we didn't think they'd look right, the TV stand is in the corner so if you can imagine there's only a "triangle" space for the speakers and although I'm OK for depth, these are too wide

I actually bought some Denon bookshelf speakers for a bargain £40 from Amazon this week intended for my rears but they don't have a way to attach them to stands so I may swap my stuff around and try the Denons at the front just placed on my TV stand, and move my current fronts (Boston Acoustic A23) onto some speaker stands and use them as rears.

Got them home and took one look at the size of the boxes in my lounge and thought there's sadly no way they'll fit nicely. So I've left them sealed for a refund. If I'd have opened them I'd have had to pay 15% if they value of the speakers Shame as they're really nice looking speakers and I like the tannoy brand of speakers

If your concern is about Uplay multiplayer, this game was actually engineered ignoring multiplayer, as stats showed that the vast majority of Anno players play it in single player mode. If you are concerned about Uplay as a purchasing/managing game portal, you can use steam instead, as this post would imply.

Having double-checked, it was actually 2070 I was on about.:D

For Uplay, I don't think there's a way round it, as even if you load it through Steam, it still loads into Uplay first, much like Far Cry and other games of theirs do. I've used Uplay fine for Far Cry, and I'm just iffy because the reviews for this game's use of Uplay seem particularly terrible.

On another note, Anno games are very enjoyable and provide challenges and entertainment for hours and hours. I have played them since Anno 1503 without ever being disappointed and this latest installment seems pretty good!
As suggested above, you might want to try Anno 1404 first.

Agreed: Anno 1404 is the best to ease into the franchise's gameplay without compromising on quality.
Anno 1404 seconded. It's a great game to waste many hours on, and shouldn't be infested with the Uplay menace.

Well Compared with the PC version this is like a demo. It's very similar to Anno 1404 but everything takes ages to build and the prices don't match the real game.

The server is very slow, you need to pay for reveal your own island, cobbler streets cost 5 stones per square and takes 3 minutes to produce just 1 stone. Everything is done in order to make the player wait or buy expensive rubies, it's the way they make money, I can't blame them there.

Good to say is that this is an online game, you can play it in any browser/device that plays flash. You can move buildings to different locations for free.
