As good as this view? Best poop I ever had!

33220550-KlUag.jpg
I don't think this is a good offer at all - in fact I think it's a pretty typical example of 'rook those coming to London, they won't realise it'. Why on earth would you pay whatever it is £12, £13 - to go up the Shard, when you can just apply in advance for a ticket and go to the far superior Sky Garden for free? As for Marco Pierre White's New York restaurant, granted his food is good, but if you look at the restaurant website you can get a 3-course lunch there for £12.95. Now, by my reckoning, if you book the restaurant yourself and book the Sky Garden yourself, the total cost is only £25.90! As opposed to giving Wowcher £89!

Fair enough. I am aware you need to do paid courses to get an official OU …Fair enough. I am aware you need to do paid courses to get an official OU address. Just keep in mind that a lot of universities do 'taster' courses, and your post notes explicitly that these courses might be good for people considering enrolling in a proper uni:"On the other hand, great way to learn some new exciting subjects or to test the waters for a particular subject that you've been thinking of enrolling for in a proper Uni?"No matter which way you slice it, you are excluding the OU from this term.

That meant (& I quote from Simplified English for Dummies) =

PART A: On the other hand, great way to learn some new exciting subjects - Join one of these free courses or take a paid full course in OU

PART B: or to test the waters for a particular subject that you've been thinking of enrolling for in a proper Uni? - If you want to enroll in a physical university for some reason and NOT in OU, then you can take a particular subject on the OU (in one of these free courses) to see if you really like it and it's worth doing a complete course/degree or whatever else you have in mind, in a physical university (which has classes, students, teachers, white board, computers, ceilings etc all present physically in the classroom). Choice is yours.

Can we end this discussion here? You win

I'm not sure what typical PhD fees are. My programme is fully funded, which I have learned is relatively rare. One of the things that made me competitive was the nature of my OU degree.

What's the difference then? Does resisting water not make it waterproof?

Resisting anything doesn't make anything proof. Like the lids on medicine bottles are "child resistant" not "child proof".

You could even have a waterproof fabric but, if the zips and fasteners weren't water proof, then the bag would only be water resistant.

Water resistant means it will be fine in a light shower and resist a little water. Try to use it in a down pour and water will get in.

Code doesn't work for me. Says not valid.
We ate their Christmas dinner in early Dec just now, 3-course for £25 + drinks+ services per person.

Very good people service and:-

1. Food very bland
2. Cheap cured meat platter (out of three varieties, one tasted so cheap and industrial scale that most people left it after a nibble), the other two varieties were as good as you can buy from Sainsburys : parma and another chirizo-type
3. The linguine was bland and stodgey, near zero amount of herbs and sauces, harder than al dente, prawns tiny
4. Belly pork was not succulent nor juicy, pre-cooked and then re-heated again (grilled or pan-fried again?), just about OK, portion size was small, creamed potatoes just about OK in taste but lacked flavour
5. Brussels sprouts so burnt that there was a pile left even though the portion per person was small, looked around other tables when waiter cleared up, piles of the same burnt brussel sprouts: tasted bitter and dry
6. The flash steak was OK, but then again you cannot go wrong with a steak
7. panettone with choco sauce, tasted disgusting, as sick as school puds, two of us couldn't eat it after a spoon and then the third person just picked out the candies in the panettone: the panettone was soggy into the gruel mess, the choco sauce was trade rough and tasted bulked up with something or was it trade chocolate with too much veggie fat content?

Altogether service is 8 out of 10.
