Thank u for this post!!! Been looking for a new Slow Cooker n I’ve just ordered two!!!
I have a Daewoo car, that's slow too!
I have a glass transparent kettle and I love it. Pure quality. I do fin i clean it more often with some lemon juice once a week but it also means the water in my tea is clean too! Also as someone above mentioned its easy to boil just the amount you need saving you money. Ive had mine for years and its starting to leak. It's a shame they're all in the £50 mark though

All electric blankets have a remote control - don't fall for this con , its not an extra feature. The control is on the cable which is detachable on ALL washable blankets ( you don't want the control unit in the washer ). Its NOT a cordless remote.

In my opinion the only electric blankets worth buying are fitted mattress covers . The ones with tie tapes only cover a fraction of the bed and move around too easily.
To be honest I wouldn't fancy my chances in anything sold by Maplin. Never had anything from them that lived up to expectations. Rechargeable batteries, battery chargers, set top box and kids electronic cars (both remote control and ride in /on)

Didn't know washing machine snobbery was a "thing"

It is why I come on here. Hilarious- it is everything that is disposable and has no long term value snobbery. I have a Beko (Made in Turkey) and a Bosch (Made in Spain, Engineer says it is a Balay underneath as Bosch bought Balay, apparently in Spain they are still Balay branded) Both 1400 spin 7 Kg, The Bosch has issues, the programmer locks up, the engineer replaced it and it still does it, Powering off and on resets it. The Bosch spins better, the Beko rinses better. Another rinse takes 18 minutes and another spin 12, so take your choice as I tend to go and do something else anyway. If you have lived abroad (I spend about 4 months a year in another European country, that I used to live and work in.) you will see brand snobbery for the pathetic joke it is. Brands are totally reversed there, some like Zanussi are not available and others like Siemens are run of the mill. Bosch is nearly as cheap as the Chinese unknowns. Can you buy Ocean washers here? Others like Gorenje are usually the cheapo offer deals limited to a single outlet, I bought a Gorenje combi oven microwave for 57 Euros, they are sold like that, never as normal stock. They are all made all over the place, some side by side with a different drawer. Like you said, I have that Bosch "Daewoo" fridge freezer, it is fine, it does what it says on the tin, but I suppose some will think the decals make all the difference, I bought it as it was half price in the January sales one year and the cheapest that did the job I want. Pays your money (or I suspect credit card)--------

What’s the difference between a halogen air fryer and a bog standard air f …What’s the difference between a halogen air fryer and a bog standard air fryer? There’s none I’m guessing.

This is an halogen oven - not an air fryer in the original sense.
A "bog standard air fryer" has some rotating parts to turn the cooking food.
These halogen ovens are much cheaper and I think the manufacturers like people to think they are the more expensive items, which they are not.
Thanks op purchased!!

Being a sad middle aged man with nothing better to do. I have worked out that due to our current oven being 2.5kw and this being 1.3kw if this is used for approx 160 hours of it's life then it has paid itself!

Sick of the wife turning the oven on for a garlic baguette , having to wait 12 minutes for it to get to temp , where it looks like the time that it gets up to heat on this is half that!

Most couriers charge significantly more for NI, not all blame can be put on the retailers. I pay £4.15 for parcel force next day mainland yet they charge me £11.60 for NI....

However that said when DHL bought UK mail a year ago they included NI as part of their UK rates so we can ship to NI for £6.90 now.

No excuse now for charging this much.

Isn't it more efficient to have a fan heater blowing warm air around the …Isn't it more efficient to have a fan heater blowing warm air around the room rather than radiatiing heat?

To warm just your body, halogen heaters are good as they radiate heat. To warm a room for short periods of time, a fan heater such as a ceramic fan heater are best. And to heat the whole room over a longer period of time, oil radiators and convector heaters are best.
Back in stock
I have one of these. As others have said, the bars soon start to fail. Just one left working on mine now but that's all I ever used. Sitting under my desk, it's all you need to keep warm. Also, using only one bar will cost about 5p an hour to use.
Isn't it more efficient to have a fan heater blowing warm air around the room rather than radiatiing heat?
I got one of these a few weeks ago and its a great heater:
argos.co.uk/pro…673

Immediate heat and also has oscillating or stationary setting.
Using my smart meter I can see it costs circa 12p per hour to run on high (1000w) so presumably 6p on 500w.

You said: "Electricity is 15p per hour on cheapest tariff when you include the 5% vat and standing charge. 30p an hour, realistically."You pay standing charge whether your using electricity or not, so it's irrelevant and meaningless to say this costs 30p "an hour to run". It cost's 10-20p PER UNIT, plus VAT, if your on a decent tariff.

Yes a unit = 1kWh
2kW heater = 30p assuming 15p a unit as it would be with big 6 company.
Or if feeling pedantic let's call it 25.64p which is the cheapest available for 2 units excluding standing charge but including VAT.

If I just wanted to heat one room, how would something like this compare …If I just wanted to heat one room, how would something like this compare with turning the central heating on(with all radiators in other rooms turned off) in terms of energy cost?

Assuming you have even a half decent boiler, it will be much cheaper to use central heating than electricity, even for heating just one room. Just make sure you keep thermostat as low as comfortably possible. Some people suggest turning radiators down low (not off, as to avoid damp/mould problems) and closing doors to rooms you don't use.

Having examined it closer now, the one thing I am not happy with is the extender ring which does not seem to be very sturdy and if not careful could be quite unsafe in use and easily knocked off with the heating top as it doesn't sit very firmly or lock in any way to the other part, just lies on a small rim . The ring is easily distorted and could leave gaps where heat will leak as well.
Edited by: "Patr100" 1st Oct 2017
Got email this morning saying it was ready to collect and only ordered last night. It's a beast, far bigger than our last one even without the extension ring and racks allow 2 levels of cooking and an oil sprayer as well.
Bargain.
Thanks again for posting this deal.
