I have found the Wi-Fi to not be that good :/

PabloEscobath

Well I didn't mean it to be taken literally (flirt)

AshleyAlexanderWatson

Not necessarily true. If you know when you're going, you can get a 1st class ticket from Edinburgh to London for £40. Also some of the rail discount cards will give you good deals.

ciare32

I think it does, wifi worked fine for me when I travelled in first class, but when I'm in standard the wifi sometimes won't even work for me until about half an hour out of Euston, and even then keeps cutting out.

Will go nicely with your overpriced cup of tea and wilted ham sandwich from on board 'catering'

I tried the Daily Mail sign up offer, 1000 points, never to be seen so maybe not worth the aggro with a virgin offer.

Trainline LOL! Enjoy those extra charges! TaketheTrain.co.uk or the actual train operator is ALWAYS your best bet.

Dealier

It is. From the first post: "3. 50% discount can only be used by the recipient of this email using their registered Virgin Trains East Coast email address "

Johnjones7656

This doesn't work-think it's specific to the recipient of the email

Dealier

Trainline is NEVER cheaper than buying directly from the train operator. Unless you're buying on their app they're always more expensive due to their fees. Which journeys were you looking at?

Thanks OP! Just booked 1st class. Glad I checked here 1st. App very fiddly to use but got there in the end. Tip: if you have several journeys to book, add to cart via app then go back in and book again. It's one time use but doing it this way allows you to book multiple journeys.

what does this mean exactly Stagecoach and Virgin are working in partnership to operate the East Coast and West Coast inter-city routes under the Virgin Trains brand. Together, they are on track to revolutionise rail travel across the UK. The combined network connects some of the nation’s most iconic destinations including Glasgow, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, York and London.

Similar has happened to in the past on Virgin West Coast (minus bananas and plastic cups). I complained. I got rail vouchers for the amount I spent (wasn't going to quibble about this given how often I use trains), plus a free return first class journey anywhere on the network.

Did 1st Class last week Manchester - London. Abysmal service. Lounge was shut in Manchester, train hadn't been cleaned, two toilets working on the whole train and it stank of ****. Food going down was a banana and a cup of tea in a plastic cup. save your money!

bargaindeals

You missed out Retford from your list of stopping points and there are fewer than 4 Leeds service trains a day that stop at Newark but then all of this is irrelevant to the original subject matter.

Dealier

There are Advance tickets, and the conditions for these tickets state you must make the journey you've booked, on the train you've booked. There are ticket barriers at Newark, so your ticket wouldn't get you in or out of the station, and you could be asked to pay the full anytime fare. Train companies generally now let people off if they get off a stop early if they're not doing it to save money, but that obviously wouldn't be the case if you're using a Leeds special offer ticket from Newark.

snow18

Comment The Leeds to London route do stop at Newark. Maybe not every train, but the route usually goes like this: Leeds, Wakefield, Doncaster, Newark, Grantham, Peterborough, stevenage, London.

bargaindeals

If you're trying to be funny you should make it clear. Unlike your post, I tried to make my remarks very much tongue in cheek. Actually I find Yorkshire folk very friendly, maybe because they welcome the input of my English Pounds into their economy or perhaps the women who find it refreshing to meet a male who treats them like ladies and are not 'tight wads' I'm not aware that it's a requirement to post a deal to visit this site. For your information I visit this site to find out what others have found and for others to make sensible comments upon. Unfortunately I have to suffer postings from people like you who think it clever to make inept remarks.
