Damson Dene is a dog friendly hotel. I have stayed in the past and the food was Awesome. The rooms were comfortable and setting was Beautiful with lots of walking trails around it.
Mmmm this is very tempting. Was looking for a short weekend break away. Was thinking Europe but this is very tempting. Thanks OP.

It's 50 quid a night pp. I'm assuming most people will be at the lakes for the outside sights, Not the hotel decor. I agree it's not a 5 star appearance, but nor is the price

I hate these sort of deals they look good but you read all the restrictions it's just a way of making a normal price sound like a bargain...
You have to pay another £20 each to use the spa then more to have a room with a view so starts to get pricey
pretty sure there's a Withnail quote in this....

I tried making a test booking on the Travelzoo site and at no point does it check availability for you; you have to pay for the accommodation and then contact the hotel directly to see if your dates are available. So if they aren't, you've just wasted your money and I wouldn't be too optimistic about getting a refund. For that reason, while the hotels get good reviews, I have to vote the deal cold. I'd sooner bypass Travelzoo and contact the hotel directly.

I've had a poor experience using TravelZoo for a Michelin-star restaurant meal previously, since after I presented my voucher, I found that extras got added on at the end of the meal (without first being informed), e.g. service charge based on the original full a la carte price of individual items got added (not the voucher price), bread rolls and butter (when previous dining there they had given it free).

Visited this weekend on this offer. Came home last night - gorgeous place, lovely views, room clean and comfortable, staff friendly and food great. Sad to be home!! Got a returning offer too - two nights B&B £99. Will be returning. Many Thanks
Nice find op
Stayed there for our 25 anniversary Dec 2012, thoroughly enoyed it, but no buses after 4PM, and still expensive prices out of tourist season. Breakfast there is excellent.
Good deal. I've been to Coniston several times before and it's a great little village. Plenty of good pubs with a fine selection of ales (try the locally brewed, and award winning, 'Blue Bird Bitter').

The walk up the Old Man of Coniston is quite challenging but, on a clear day, very rewarding. The final ascent is the toughest part but this is optional as the circular route carries on past it.

Think I might book this up - thanks Op!

A Kendal Mint Cake???

I wonder if most people realise that "Kendal Mint Cake" isn't really a proper cake at all?

It's basically pure white sugar plus mint flavouring compressed into a thin slab. That's about it.

Think of it as the confectionery equivalent of "Buckie" (aka Buckfast).

Not good, I'm afraid - and you'd probably prefer a deep-fried Mars Bar

Swimming pool is small but ok if you aren't bothered about exercise and just want to splash around (pool room is exceptionally warm though and changing rooms cramped and not really fir for purpose/lockers were broken etc. Stifling hot in fact: you'll need to shower off again on return to your room!) Actually I've been to many hotels where they have built a swimming pool (presumably as it immediately gives the hotel some added 'spa/luxury' appeal - and it 'looks good in the brochure' without what seems to be any thought about the functionality of them once installed: everything else is clearly an afterthought i.e.temperature, usable changing rooms etc. It's almost like 'as long as we can say we have one - that's enough for the extra star so who cares?' Anyway, I digress..The place is about a 15-20 minute walk into Kendal along the main road (which is a very pleasant town). All in all, pretty average digs with a veneer of luxury (and I do mean 'veneer'). It's perfectly acceptable (3 star at best by my reckoning) . Having said all that; at less than £100 for two with meals thrown in you can't complain I suppose (hence me heating the deal).
