If you're going to place blame on Britain for the Northern Ireland conflict you should also blame the Irish Government. When Ireland became a republic in 1921 Britain negotiated with Ireland to keep the six counties in the north-east of Ireland.Maybe the mighty South should have negotiated a bit harder lol

i dont particularly like anyone who kills people regardless of being republican or loyalist what im saying is that if countries respected others countries and kept out of their country this probably wouldnt be happening. IS is mainly iraqis who lost family in the slaughter when americans and british forces killed over 500000 civilians for oil, it wasnt for wmds anyway

can you buy a sepuarte ticket for a child ?????
They can still be ATOL and ABTA registered holiday/travel operators
They can sell you either a holiday, or a holiday "package". You need to know which one they are selling you

You have substantial legal rights if you buy a holiday that classes as a "package" from an operator where they sell you 2 of the 3 elements listed here: citizensinformation.ie/en/…tml

If they sell you
just flights - then, your contract is with the airline
just a hotel - then, your contract is with hotel
a package - contract is with Tour Operator, UK based eg Thompsons, compensation easily accessed under UK courts and laws ( with UK solicitor firms keen for your business).

If booking for a family, you need to check if the holiday you are buying classes as "a package". Sometimes they will sell you flights, transfer, and hotel, but will state that they are separate services and no "package" is intended. Sometimes they say they have "tailor made" your holiday to ensure low costs, but really it is a loophole to dodge the legal implications of you being able to make a claim.

You must ask or look for disclaimers saying that it does not constitute a package. Hope this is helpful.

(This is a totally different issue to having your own travel insurance by the way ).

got to agree, Marmaris is a sh!thole. very dirty and full of dodgy folk trying to rip you off, genuine fakes in all the shops
having said that, do a little travelling further afield and its a beutiful country which id love to go back too very soon
away from the shops the people are friendly but you have to respect their culture and cover up a little more than some people would like but when in Rome and all that (_;)
we stayed nearer to icemeler which is only a walk away yet worlds apart
im looking to goto Lara beach next time, looks very holiday orientated rather than just hotels built around a dumpsite
the food and drink in Marmaris is also quite expensive compared to Tenerife (stayed there a few months earlier) although its easily possible to buy a (very tasty) chicken kebab for less than a can of coke
Talk of the town is worth a visit, very entertaining and even young kids can go, nothing too rude said, merely suggested. "Daddy whys that man dressed as a woman" will stay with me for years to come, little lass was only 7
dolmus and taxi boats are scary but you should try them once in your life, very cheap transport too
all in all icemeler was as good as any resort ive been too, marmaris isnt
but each to their own, try it and see, you may like it

Would you suspect the same thing in the UK?? of course you would.... If you go to a popular tourist area expect it. Turkey isn't a cheap place and the problem with a lot of Tourists who visit these places is thaty they only shell out a few hundred quid for a holiday and expect the world. Seriously, the other poster you expect to be medically treated for free?! As a non national? The country is not all inclusive, even if your hotel is... I love Turkey, |'ve had the fortune to travel all over, if you want a proper vacation go the North, The black sea, Ankara, Bursa, Uludag, Istanbul but don't slate Turkey because you got the runs on a cheap butlins-esque holiday.

We obviously didn't expect to be treated free, thats why we had travel insurance. However what was a bad suprise was basically being held to ransom for a credit card until my partner who was in agony and brought in on an ambulance floor was treated.
I also have not commented on Turkey as a whole, I have commented on Marmaris which as I have stayed in for two weeks I feel I can give my opinion.
Also the holiday advertised is in Marmaris and not the whole of Turkey.
I spend 1-2 months in Marmaris each year due to business and some friends living there and and can't believe some the rubbish being spouted on here.

Yes, there are clubs, bars, areas that don't look so sparkling but if you can be bothered to walk past the 'Full English breakfast' signs there are some 5 star hotels, some cracking restaurants and areas of real beauty.
Some of the same criticism can be said about it can be said about the vast majority of resorts and tourist places, Venice to some people is one the worlds most beautiful cities but I found it to be a run down dump that stunk to high heaven with loads of rubbish floating in the water.

In over 15 years of going to Marmaris I've never paid £9 for a beer, all the clubs I've been to are around uk prices or a litte more.

Just like everwhere in the world it's not for everyone but Turkey is a vast country and so if Marmaris isn't your thing then don't automatically discount the rest of it, London is nothing like the rest of the UK.

exactly. certainly most new cover from most insurance companies won't cover the ash cloud issue.
I was with the post office and renewed, and I don't know if a renewal counts as a new policy as existing policies do cover it. but M&S and couple of others covered it, but even that was limited to "reasonable" claims and I am not certain what those limits are.

at least with a package, they will get you home / put you up somewhere if delayed. Probably the best bet at the moment.
