The Pi3 copes perfectly well streaming 1080p as well.I have another on in the kid's room running Kodi and retropie in a dual boot setup. Both run seamlessly.Have a spare Pi lying around in the study which I might install Pi-hole on. Never heard of it before and most of the apps on the devices we have are the as-riddled versions so win-win

Thanks. Can I use one Pi for all three simultaneously? I.e. Pi-hole, retropie with kids games & Kodi for streaming or will I need three different ones?

Wifi . 512MB ram, 4GB onboard flash storage (fast too, pi storage is unbelievably slow). Bluetooth 4.0+Only issue is it doesn't come with HDMI (comes with a video out cable) but you can get an adapter. It's pretty much same as a Pi Zero except it has bluetooth and onboard storage. I have all the Pi's including the Zero and i have a C.H.I.P and I like chip best. Although these days I do most of my stuff with Arduino anyway unless I really want a linux based system / web based use etc.

will this run kodi without struggling?

Yes. But not in raspbian.
Download either:

libreelec for basic add-on only Kodi,

openelec for slightly larger build but more stable isenguard Kodi

Or

OSMC for superslick large build customisable Kodi.

I have run both open and libreelec and have exodus and istream running with very little load times.

I pondered that but then I asked myself... why not get an atom for that?
Better keep embedded for its own purposes

From playing around with my Pi Zero, I found its possible to play SD … From playing around with my Pi Zero, I found its possible to play SD video in MP4 format fullscreen providing you use the omxplayer app that utilises the built-in GPU core. VLC will play mp3 but wont play mp4s as in VLC everything is done in software (not GPU). As a basic media playback device the Pi Zero would probably be fine. Haven't tried streaming yet.The limited RAM can be a pain if you are doing internet stuff, so if you plan to use it as a general purpose machine I would go with the Raspberry Pi B2 as the increased RAM and Quad cores handle the web better. Sadly the lack of flash support prevents a lot of the media-rich sites like iplayer this affects all variants because there us no ARM support for Flash.

I believe video on Kodi is smooth enough - have a look at the YouTube videos showing the Pi Zero playing back HD videos stutter-free:

Hi. That's what I used.

Still having trouble streaming some files, especially to my XB1 using plex app.

Still messing about with it. I would like a plex option to turn off transcoding (as I think that is the primary issue I am having) but it aint possible ( i was serving files to all my devices without transcoding from my NAS share without issues, but love the plex system).
Thanks £10.50 for the pi and cables with delivery. Looks like they have just about sold out of all bundles now.
