My 13.3" inch screen is a 1440p amoled and I love it. There will always be laptop makers filling up the bottom end of the market flogging 1366*768 screens even in 2018. It's time to start pushing the upper end of the market forward by buying stuff like this and if battery life sucks we'll take it on the chin like we have done with smart phones for a few years.
That's no good to me
Plus 1% cashback if using a Costco AMEX card, and a further 2% if an Executive Costco member!.
1800p does sound absurd for a 13.3" but certainly makes a difference.
I recently compared my Zenbook with a 1080p XPS 9370 and the screen on the Dell looked surprisingly low-res.

Scales nicely to 1600x900 for light gaming on the Intel GPU.

Any better options, for £900? This was the first thing I wanted to know before buying, here's what I got from Dell:

It is indicated there that the viewable preset area is
552.96 mm x 311.04 mm (in millimeter)
21.77 inches x 12.25 inches (in inches)

If you're like me, I can't stand monitors that are just wide for the sake of it and just have no height.

Previously had a 23" dell one which was good, but this 25" one is absolutely perfect size wise, and sure is a massive jump in clarity and so much more comfortable on the eyes.

I just bought this monitor for £379.99 from Very, neglecting the fact it was QHD 1440p.

Videos and streaming stuff through my laptop looks great and it's quick and snappy when playing games.

However, I mainly use it for console gaming and as the PS4 doesn't output 1440p natively, it has to upscale 1080p which looks awfully blurry, almost looks 720p.

I could probably live with it, if it would have been a cheaper monitor but not for this price.

I've bought a 1080p curved Acer instead. ED322Q I think. £130 cheaper too, it was OOS orginally as it was the one I wanted at first so I settled for the Omen instead.

Also, for the 3 days I was using it I got terrible eye strain/headaches and I've read others say the same. Something to do with PWM (I think)

1070, 1080, FreeSync range?

Exactly. You can only operate in FreeSync range with cards that don't work with FS.

@mazymony Good luck getting a Vega 64 for under £600! A 580 absolutely isn't fine for the majority of mainstream games that have come out in the last two years, c.f. anandtech.com/ben…868 I also know that because I have an overclocked 290x that's roughly the same performance as a 580. It absolutely isn't good enough to stay in Freesync range at 1440p, even in older games like Borderlands 2.

That's also not to mention the problem with most higher end AMD cards where they struggle to maintain fps consistency compared to similar nvidia cards, going back to the lack of LFC on this monitor.

I've always bought AMD/ATI going back to the early 00s, but the 3 generations between the 2** series and Vega are a joke. Almost zero progress.
Edited by: "khamito" 26th Nov 2017
I had this monitor and did some extensive testing on it. It has about 50ms input latency, which is about 3 frames. I was coming from a 10ms ultrawide and I could definitely tell the difference (I'd miss-time my jumps in Dying Light, for example). There's also pretty bad pixel persistence, so fast moving images make everything very blurry. If you can live with these things, it's a good monitor. It also stutters at 75Hz on nvidia GPUs so you have to drop to 60. I personally got a 32 inch Viewsonic 60Hz IPS monitor and it completely blows it out of the water!

You need an AMD card for Freesync. For the latest games, a 64 for max settings but with lighter games a 580 would be fine.

I guess you're just too damn unlucky! :P
As a naysayer, be aware you get what you pay for; other models that claimed good frame rate overclocking were actually found to be dropping frames to get the claimed speeds, and not actually giving the real refresh rate.

If you get a good one, great, but far too many people have reported returning unit after unit across multiple model ranges for me to ever risk my money on one.

The above "returned three" is NOT unusual for this make.

Save a bit longer, or stretch your credit card a bit further and go for an Acer, LG or Samsung curved gaming screen; AFAIK, all 3 makes use the same VA panels.
Paid another £70 and got an LG model. Swapped the high res for 144hz and havent looked back. Amazing!

No idea why the couldn't just adopt the same standard TVs use (HDR10 I believe). Would have allowed HDR monitors to appear far earlier and allow for cross compatibility so HDR capable consoles and set top boxes can display on a HDR monitor. Instead they seemingly are going for some kind of specialist PC only version of HDR that is sure to bump the costs of early displays up to astronomical levels and probably break any compatibility with the regular TV format

The lack of HDR displays for PC has meant that a fair number of games that have HDR on console have released on PC without it, making it debatable whether the PC version is the definitive version it usually is.

Oh well, not really of any concern to me as I'm more than happy with my pair of these non-HDR AOCs, and provided they don't break on me, will probably be using them for the next five years plus, by which time the whole HDR for PCs mess should have sorted itself out...

I'm sure it would look 'alright' with a PS4 but it really isn't the right way to use a monitor, especially one like this with a resolution that sits awkwardly between the two TV standards (higher than 1080P, lower than 4K). You are likely to lose some fine image quality and detail because the monitor will only receive 1080P from the PS4 (even if you got a Pro as PS4 Pro doesn't have an option to output 1440P natively) and then has to scale it up, which is a lossy process by its nature.

Looking at it from a TV distance this effect probably wouldn't be very noticeable but still would probably do better with a larger TV (maybe 40") for a console because aside from Xbox One X they just aren't equipped to deal with the 'in between' 1440P resolution....

Ghosting update. I'd say the king of ghosting tests is Deus Ex: Human Revolution because it runs comfortably at 75Hz on most setups, and the colour scheme is mostly luminous yellow on black and grey. And good lord it's quite blurry. I could probably mitigate this by bibbling around with the gamma/brightness at the expense of colour accuracy but if the Deus Ex games with their perpetual night are your favourite in the whole world this is not the monitor to get.

If you're just playing battlegrounds on this, it's rarely going to be an issue except inside some of the buildings at military base which are fairly daaaaark. Naturally I'll try messing with the overdrive settings further (it's on 'low' at present) and see if I can improve on that.

That being said, and I can't repeat this enough, for £200 this is still a superlative buy and I'm not doing the buyer's remorse dance in the least.

Whats a bootloop?

A hardware issue commonly found in LG phones (including Nexus devices) from the last few years which completely bricks the device.
I bought one in the previous deal and have been using it for a couple of weeks.

Phone is very fast, has no trouble running multiple apps, browser tabs, games etc.

Runs VERY hot while gaming.

Battery is actually really good for video, browsing and apps, but when gaming it tanks.

The camera is really quite bad. Nothing like the LG G4. It doesn't focus properly, takes grainy photos even in good light. Is slow to process a shot so you can't take multiple quick photos.
It's not bad for the money, but I'll be returning mine.

Whats a bootloop?
They should change the name to LG X fast Bootloop X5, who in their right mind would by a LG phone after the disdain they have shown customers in europe over the bootloop issue

So this cheaper pc or the omen earlier

Pointless question as it makes little sense without context. However giving you the benefit of the doubt, this is a lightweight laptop with potentially decent battery life, the Omen is a gaming laptop and for a different purpose in comparison to this one. The question you should have asked would include the purpose for which you want a laptop for and then that would enable people to help you decide.
i'm an idiot, sorry

Very nice. No power supply - any idea on costs for that?

It does include a power supply "New plain Asus brown box with PSU and mains cable. "

Done necessary software updates.Wifi and bluetooth work fine. Great camera.Overall very satisfied with the phone for the price.Great bargain I think.Just hope no issues arise with the phone as not want to get into the hassle of posting to Hong Kong.

I'm glad I bought mine from eBay for £114.

Worked fine for about a week, then fingerprint sensor wouldn't work sporadically. Vibration was intermittent, the camera was AWFUL - focus all over the place - and the charging slot broke so you had to hold the wire in a certain place to charge it.

Sending it back today free of charge.

Good luck!

This or p10 lite?

After the problems some have been reporting with this, I'd go for the P10 Lite.

Two have come in stock
Arrived and like new with Ethernet adapter and power lead all in a big brown box along with and a nice little pouch. Great service from XSOnly who I'd never used before. They emailed me after the order informing me of a slight delay due to popularity and before delivery. I too opted for the Obsidian Stone (grey with a purple hue). Cheers OP.

Cheers, I did the same. Cycle count 2, capacity 45030mWh.
My two arrived.

They're both slightly purple, which I wasn't expecting. Is this their version of black?

Also, one of them was already switched on and was running a bunch of test tools. Maybe they forgot to wipe it? I can't open apps or seem to do anything in this strange mode. I've emailed them to ask what's going on.
