Just my two cents... searched LHR to Melbourne, 28 Nov to 12 Dec (2 weeks, Saturday departures). Managed to get a quote for £536 on Etihad airways, which seems quite cheap. Searching Kayak on the same dates brings up Etihad as well, but at £544!!

cundall

The fares are very very strict.

Am trying to book flight to Dubai, but can only book in June :? Any ideas whats going on? Cheers

Cheapest way I can think off of the top of my head.. AirAsia to Kuala Lumpur from Stansted, then fly on to Aus.

I saw it in a bookshop the other day, and it does seem massive! It was the biggest one there... They do all the regional ones as well for Australia so we might just buy one of them if we go. We had the Thailand one to plan our holiday but in the end left it at home and took a few photocopied pages that we thought would be useful when we went away a few weeks ago. Much lighter and more shopping space in the bag!

ms2005

The OZ one is dead useful but weighs about 5KG so a royal pain in the rear end to lug around.

Low cost it to Rome; then fly cheaply to Bangkok for just 99 euros inc taxes. There are some dates left June and July. The return leg is expensive so would advise you to AirAsia… Read more

Hot if you can get everything to work out, but bet loads of people would prefer to pay a bit more & go direct for some more cash

amrad

Yeh I meant to post this a while ago but completely forgot! Look on the blu express website - they have an english version and they fly Rome (and possibly Milan) to BKK for 99 euros. All the dates in June/Jul outwards were initially available but a lot seem to have gone. Combine with an easyjet or other flight to Rome and you are laughing. A good way to do this is use www.skyscanner.co.uk and it will match up flights for you. The return flights seem ridiculously expensive, and its hard to get one ways back from BKK. The smart option is to fly Air Asia back from Kuala Lumpur and get a cheap flight to there from whereever you are going to be.

...its not wierd, the prices fluctuate when a ticket has been booked - then they release more allocation afterwards - BA.com is a ****** for this - especially as the price goes through the roof when too many tickets are booked at the same time

Trickyjabs

This seems to change by the minute! I've seem the price bounce around between £298 and £368 for the last hour. Hopefully someone will get lucky and get the the lower prices.

Trickyjabs

Wierdly there does seem to be other dates available for £299. Not sure why it's £1 more.

tomwenn

lol, i think they just went up by £105 while i was online! Now £407 return

tomwenn

Only flight out is May 8th and only return date is June 4th. Unless you can travel on those exact dates I cant see any other choice. I may be wrong but this is all I can see. Not voted either way because of this.

Suspicious of anyone going to thailand .. rofl My wife and I go there now and then over the last 10 years to go sailing, waterfalls, beaches like you have never seen, snorkelling diving the andaman sea ... Ahhh ... for my money lets hope more people see it that way and keep the secret and the SMILES alive :-D

Trickyjabs

Oh my god, I stayed in that place years ago, back in the day when you could get a room for about 2 quid a night! Khao San Road has changed a lot over the years, neon-tastic nowadays!

lisaloo

I lived there for 6 years, i never found the need to sleep with a Thai girl and believe me they are happy to take money from men or women. It is all down to personal choice, but to make out everyone who visits the place is a sex tourist is rather narrow minded. As for the deal, its not great. If i was choosing to stay in that area, a walk up negotiation would get me the best price. The weather in April is the hottest time, but you have the Songkran festival to cool you down during the middle of the month. To be honest, unless you live in Bangkok for work most people visit the sights and then head to the beaches or the north which have sea breezes or cooler temps..

Sorry for offending a 'true cage fan'. You obviously have a very sophisticated taste in movies. You also have a great line in logic, to presume that a person that has not enjoyed a fair few Nicolas Cage films, must therefore enjoy Disney films. Very objective!

Actually in terms of climates and cultures, no other country is as diverse or fascinating as India. Not to mention foods, peoples, sights, ... First day is **** scary, then it changes you for ever. US, Thailand, Spain and the best of the rest are all poor seconds in comparison.

reviewz

You do know the difference between a typo and lazy typing don't you? hmm... Obviously not otherwise you wouldn't have written that reply. Let me explain, a typographical error otherwise known as a "typo" is something like a simple spelling mistake, usually caused by hitting the wrong key when typing, slips of the finger etc... Whereas lazy typing is when people can't be bothered to type the full word out. They use words like "u" and "ur". Understand? If not I'll make it even easier for you. Think 13year old and SMS. Tn u hv ur ansr cz its da way dey lv 2 tlk.

all sold out :(

You have not heard of STA travel? They are the biggest student travel company going. They have branches in some of the biggest uni's and in most of the majot citys. Ive used them loads of times. Infact i just phoned to book the Bangkok flights but they are sold out now :x not suprising at that price either.

curtivic

who ever thought flights would go this low again

jizzm

Is this legit, not heard of these before? as im a student and this is something that im interested in. This student thing, its not like a club holiday stuck with all the other students are you? Do you just all fly together or what? Hotel wise you find your own i presume? Let me know :)

thekudos

They have the same deal every year about this time. I seriously considered temporarily joining college (after already having done 8 years of college and uni in my 29 years of life ;o( ) to get this deal. HEAT ADDED I was looked into going to NY last year but circumstances dictated otherwise. This years we were definitely going to go but because of oil prices the cheapest flights were about £330 each return ....neither of us could qualify for youth/student as we both graduated 3 years ago. In the end we thought we better hurray and make a decision so we booked to go to Paris instead so our dream oif Xmas in NY is over for another year and as we knew would happen - all these cheap NY deals sprout up again! Typical.....lol
