Well I've had my Fabia 1.0 colour edition (75bhp) for 5 days now, really pleased with it.
Performance is a lot better than I expected, and the 3 cylinder engine sounds quite throaty, I was expecting it to sound like a lawn mower !

Very very pleased with it. I wanted the 1.2 TSi engine originally, glad I didn't as the 1.0 is a cheaper car and I didn't need any extra performance. Maybe if I had gone for the 60BHP model in this deal I might have been disappointed.

So thank you very much for the op for posting this deal as I would never have found the Fabia deal I eventually went for.
stress321
so has anyone actually ordered one of these cars?
I have, yes. Well a slightly different deal.
On the same web site there was a deal for the colour edition at £123 a month instead of £99 a month.
Still only a 1.0l engine but this time 75bhp instead of 60bhp - fine for me with Manchester city centre driving.
The colour edition also comes with metallic paint, different colour roof and wheels (blue car, black roof and wheels in my case), alloys, parking sensors, full touch screen DAB radio with features such as Apple AirPlay to stream my music from the iPhone, sat nav from my iPhone etc. Brake assist, day time running lights, surround sound speaker package plus a few other extras. So a few more £s a month but I was going to add metallic paint anyway which would have been more than £10 a month extra on the £99 deal.

I went to my local dealer in Manchester and they matched the deal. I will receive the car on Friday.

looks like all the 0% deals are now off, so monthly payments are now higher, I ordered just in time.

I have found a hill so steep my 68bhp 1.4 MPI Fabia will seriously struggle to go up if you end up having to stop for something coming the other way. Wonder what this would be like....
Nah, you're good, trust me. I've driven a G reg golf that had a burnt out clutch up a fairly steep gradient. Needless to say, I managed to get to the top easily...after trying for about 5 minutes then giving up, executed a U-Turn and reversed it all the way up.

Can anyone give an opinion on how this compares to the Black & Deck rotary tool here:http://www.amazon.co.uk/BLACK-DECKER-RT650KA-Rotary-accessories/dp/B0001OZHF8
I missed the deal on this for £27 or so on Amazon the other day, but this looks like a good alternative? I need it for craft stuff with wood for the most part, but don't want to buy the Dremel if it's not up to the occasional bit of heavier work.
I read "90 watt" and didn't bother with the rest.

Does anyone know the difference between the 3000 and the 4000 is the 4000 worth the extra money?

More parts with the 4000 and the motor has a higher wattage (175 vs 130). I'd suggest the 4000 is more suitable for applications with metal, if you are working with wood cant see why the 3000 wouldnt be enough.

what do you want to do with it. that will determine diffrence.

i bought a 3000 at short notice to cut a fixing bolt off of a childrens trike i had put together wrong on christmas eve. since then ive used it for lots of unexpected things including drilling pilot holes , and cutting off old screws from a garden gate i was reusing. Proper 30 year old good quality steel...each screw went through a full ceramic disc but i got them cut off.

I went to Halfords for car lights a couple of weeks ago, they told me what I "must use", and wanted £42 for 2 of them...got 6 of eBay exactly the same for 1.99 delivered. would never use Halfords again.
Wow £2.99 to 50p just goes to show how much they are ripping of the ordinary customer. Which is why I havent been to a halfords for over 10 years . Eurocarparts is cheap for car stuff.

they don't cover the ratchet in their guarantee...and that's the bit that is most likely to break. The warranty is in effect worthless, i've never managed to break a socket even cheap sockets can usually take a pretty good beating.
Well I have the set anyway I guess in 4 years only one screwdriver bit broke was just **** of with a 3 month wait for a replacement and kept having to chase it up

Pro tools dream on, the screw driver bit broke on first use the only crap on here is people like you giving your own opinion, I'm giving my experience

From my experience they are great tools and can't fault them.

I've had my set for 17 years and in that time I've had two screwdriver bits break, both were changed with no fuss.

I don't see what's wrong with these for the home mechanics.will be using mine to change the turbo on my evo x in the next few days and I'm sure they will perform as good as they always have.

Just to put this out there...

For those going for a juicer for health benefits. Bear in mind you're taking fruit in its raw form, removing all the fibre and turning it into a concentrated form which is very high in sugar. End result being that if you make use of your juicer quite often, and are susceptible to putting on weight then having a juicer might not be as "healthy" as you think.
charlotteheys88
I've been juicing for 6 months and the health benefits are unreal! You defo get what you pay for with juicers personally

What are your favourite recipes?
I've been juicing for 6 months and the health benefits are unreal! You defo get what you pay for with juicers personally
BTW - any kind of brush is a god send in cleaning these - not that hard to rinse everything under a running tap and then brush the tool bit itself. (assuming its like the Philips one)
Masticating juicers are all good and well but they have their time and place, when trying to make something reasonably quick and easy, such as for taking to work with you in the morning, they aint all that!. Also please dont just limit yourselves to fruits!

Check out http://www.juicemaster.com/ for some tips and pointers as well as some weight loss plans that have been tried and tested.

Yeah sure, we had 2 accidents this year in our fleet relating to the "green light means its my right to go". 1 a sales men who moved slowly across pedestrian crossing even thought people were still crossing. He gently hit one of people in the side of leg, his claim "the lights was green and he could go". But of course, you cannot drive in to people, even if they go on the red or amber light to cross the road you only proceeding if safe to do so. He no longer works for the company, evidence collected by his own blooming dash cam! Convicted of dangerous driving!

Likewise one our utility cans went across a junction clipping the back of a car that was crossing in front of him. Car was clearly beyond the line at his set of lights (not a yellow box junction) so it was his right of way to go. Our can driver didn't care, claiming the green light meaning he could go, obviously not the case as other traffic still had to complete its turn.

Its a funny old world out there!

Can I ask which company it is you work for? :)

so green does mean go then. You say only if your not going to block a junction but also say only if it's clear, surely it should be clear if all drivers follow the "don't block a junction rule"?
sirfentalot
what do green lights mean then?
Proceed, only if safe to do so! Ensuring all other legal obligations are clear, like traffic has cleared the junction, your not going to block the junction etc.

I have one of these, hot price but not that likely to be used much.

They have there uses for getting an old car with dodgy faded paint and tar spots to look better but I wouldn't recommend using them on your pride and joy. And tbh your better off going to the Albanian/Kurdish/Pakistani car washes and getting the full monty for this sort of money or less, unless you've got a McLaren F1 then they do a very good job.
aurora
I got one from Argos a few years ago, looks exactly the same, but only used it a few times. It's hard work and didn't make much difference. Cheap at this price, but if you really want to detail your car look on the Detailing World forum for advice about products and da or rotary machines. For about £45 you can get a Silverline polisher which should be a lot better - I know thats 40 quid more, but it will get more use than this one.

Exactly what I'm trying to say, don't waste your money on this...

The amount of drivel in this thread is unreal.
Don't polish in circles? how do DA and rotary polishers work? if you've got dirt trapped whatever direction you polish you'll do damage.
As for these being dangerous, they're no way near powerful enough to go through paint layers. The most damage you do will be caused by poor cleaning/decon method prior to using this resulting in dragging dirt around causing swirls.

Ok then so why is when I used one of these years ago using a new pad, the pad was red after polishing the car. Incidentally my car was red and I don't remember cutting myself. Each time you use a rotary polisher (machine polisher) on your car you are removing a tiny layer of the paint surface not as bad as using a T cut. You may also like to add how to remove the dirt when cleaning the car and what happens to the dirt as you are trying to remove it or does it magically disappear into thin air. I usually find most of it ends up in the bucket used to clean the car. Maybe you take your car to the car wash and have it whipped clean.

That's because the paint was single stage and had no clearcoat/laquer, there is no protection from the UV rays hence why they also go pink. Even with hand polishing you can expect some paint transfer onto the applicator with single stage. If the paint has clearcoat then that is what you're removing instead, not the paint itself.

One of these are useless though, you would be better off doing it by hand. I use a Silverline rotary for polishing but unfortunately this doesn't go in straight lines just circles!!! :p

Also don`t like me go to motor depot hessle as of paperwork (shut because of flooding)go to the one near/past THE DEEP 5 miles away and busy at rush hour (ask for address and postcode beforehand)

Mine is not stamped either. Whats the effect of this? Does it void warranty?

When I collected mine on Sunday the service book and manual were in a sealed bag in the glovebox. I mentioned about the stamp which they did there and then. Should not affect the warranty as its only a pre delivery check and the other details about the vehicle you could fill in your self. The alternative is to post back to get stamped - a bit of a pain I know

I also bought, but waiting...

has everyone got their vehicle yet?

If it still doesn't arrive on Monday, I m pulling the plug.
Bought mine on 21st Jan - arrived on Monday this week - collecting this weekend. It seems a bit hit and miss as they don't seem to know what is on the daily delivery. Depending when you ordered it should be here soon as they have to be registered by the end of the month.

Hi would you mind to tell me how you feel about the car?
Thx
Hi all - well finally I've collected. Picked up from Hull and drove over 200 miles home - Mostly motorway - no problems cruising at 70 and only used half a tank of fuel!
Have used today to commute 20 miles to work which is what I bought it for and is ideally suited.
First impressions are good - comfy drive, nice controls with modern displays and blue back lighting. Has an excellent DAB radio with both USB and phono lead connections and blue tooth connectivity for phone allowing handsfree operation. Both were easy to set up and use. Has a solid feel and appears well made - clearly a GM product as some parts I have seen on a Corsa.
It has no remote locking which is the only thing that would have been good but its only a basic £5k car so what do you expect. Has key operated central locking though which is OK with the 5 doors. Has excellent lights with full beam particularly bright. Plenty of storage and little cubby holes and decent size glove box. Remote petrol cap release.
So in summary my first 300 miles have been trouble free and enjoyable and well worth the money to have the new smell of a car that has not been used and abused. (had 5 miles on clock on collection)
Yes you could spend the same amount of money on a better 2nd hand car but brand new with 3yr warranty, no MOT bills , £30 a year tax and 55mpg you will not find for this money which is what HUKD is all about!!

I know this is an old thread but felt the need to post. Apart from a couple of posters, I've never read so much tripe in all my life! I bought one of the Motorpoint Magnette TSEs in October 2013. Great car and 100% reliable! Handsome (imo) with unbelievable kit for the price! It's no wonder the 6 has not sold in the UK given the ill informed ignorance that has been spouted all over the net by people who have never even seen one in the flesh! I don't think 30mpg in stop start urban driving is bad either (That's what I'm getting) and on a run you'll see it up in the 40s and 50s. I think the guy going on about a 3.0 Land Rover having a similar mpg can only have been talking about the diesel version not petrol! The full leather interior and black and silver trim is very nice too! I love my Magnette and will gladly get another, unfortunately with the recent facelift to the 6, the Magnette was dropped. Mind you, I own one of the rarest modern saloons on the road so kind of glad! less than 700 in total!
Not sure why this was expired, SEs are now £9299. One TSE left at £10999.

They're winning the British Touring Car Championship in this car. However I think the team build the whole car up from scratch, probably isnt much of the standard car in it.

haven't won it just yet but 888 build their cars from scratch so there will be little to compare other than the shell (which has survived Plato rolling it)

Dont they fit roll cages though? :D

Touring cars share little of the road going car anymore. Dashboard is the same, most body panels (Rob Austin in A4's strips road going cars to use as parts), engine is TOCA specified so has to be 2 litre turbo charged to certain output, plus the weight and ride height are heavily scrutinised.

Still the best racing series in the UK bar none, F1 is too predictable.
Did anyone buy one and if so what's your opinion on it ?

Thanks - useful.

Direct link here: http://www.uccc.co.uk/system/cmsassets/77.pdf

Is this the full guide, so no need to like? My mum doesn't have FB but she wants this.

Thanks

I'd say so - I got it via the Facebook link, but without actually liking. Maybe somebody who liked can confirm for sure?

Diesel USED to be cheaper than petrol. Pushed as saving you money with lower price at the pumps and higher mileage. As soon as a good proportion of people bought diesel cars the price/tax on diesel rose sharply.

Wasn't there always a price difference of 5p between Diesel and Petrol?! When/why did the gap increase??

The gap usually increases in winter. Its something to do with the demand in cold weather for heating oil

Ah fair enough. I only recently switched from a petrol car to a diesel so I suppose I've never paid as much attention before
126.9p at my local petrol station!

Only 4 litre size Tesco Extra Borehamwood Herts as well. States only suitable for certain Cars mainly Ford, not suitable for GM/Vauxhall. Big end of isle display. Also had 10 40 semi which is suitable for GM Vauxhall if your car uses that grade/ viscosity.

My Astra takes 5w30

Been this price for a very long time at Asda. Still a good price.
i was looking at the 4 litre tonight, but it was still full price at £35
4 Litre of this is on Offer for £27 at Asda Weston Super Mare, so the 4 Litres sounds like a much better deal IMO.
