Why the cold?. Good deal for a good phone. I ought mine straight from Motorola for 159 with techs warranty and a £10 off code
Probably because of the misleading picture - the deal is for the standard phone - picture is of the plus version - with finger print sensor.

Double the warranty period for £7 more
Personally, I think I'd opt for the longer warranty and dealing with JL for the price difference and considering the customer service of appliances direct and laptops direct it makes it a no brainer in my book.
Yes the best price but certainly not the best overall deal in my book.
What customer service ?
John Lewis : https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.johnlewis.com
AppliancesDirect: https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.appliancesdirect.co.uk
And from what I've read on Google that 2 year guarantee is not worth the paper its written on.

1st mistake was to use 'trustpilot' as a source of evaluation of a companies quality of service.

If you read user comments on places like HUKD and other shopping sites, the user opinion is generally positive for JL. I've never purchased from JL but I'm well aware about how highly regarded the company is in terms of their C/S.

What are the main differences from the G4 without stylus?
As I need a new phone 'cos dropped my P7000 a few too many times.

Get a oppo find 7 or find 7a.
My g4 bricked it the other day. Ordered a oppo Thursday and arrived Saturday morning, great phone for £109 delivered from their European wearhouse.
Updating to lollipop is very easy.

I would have got a r7s but still a little bit to much at the moment (and sold out) and I am not paying for a s7 edge on contract

Now having to reverse my ebay purchase.
To be fair to the OP, the Ebay title is very misleading...

+1 not the OP fault, the title makes it look like a LG G4 not a LG G4s

W10M is improving all the time, and if it gets to where it should be it WILL be amazing. I just wish the updates were faster and more frequent. It's such a shame that we are only now getting a public release when we all expected it around 8months ago.

I also think MSFT should be clearer about their direction and stop trying to save surprises to try to wow us at some keynote presentation. They are trying too hard to "out-Apple" Apple, but they can't. Why would anyone buy a new Lumia when there are so many rumours of them killing the brand? They say 650 was rumoured to be the last and there are rumours of a Surface Phone. As a NEW customer would you splash out on a flagship of a brand that could be at the end of the line or go with a competitor with an established ecosystem that's thriving and where you know the flagship IS the flagship until the same time next year?

MSFT should try something different at their next presentation. They should say "this is our plan going forward", a reveal whether they are making a Surface Phone or not, whether they are killing the Lumia brand or not, and reveal the tiers within that range.

Do we need 4/5/6/7/8/9 series? Simplify it to 4 models, example:
*Budget (4/5 series merged)
*Fun (6/7 series merged- selfie/multimedia)
*Affordable Flagship (8/9 series merged)
*Specialist Photography (10 series)
...and then on top have the big powerhouse juggernaut Surface Phone as the flagship!
A few models can have XL variants for those who like bigger handsets. All should have glance, double tap to wake, camera button, nfc as standard - stuff that barely affects the production costs when ordering by the millions. Change the naming (numbering) style to reflect the new direction but keep the Lumia brand.

OMG I have gone so off topic, but it's so obvious to us fans what needs to be done here X)

It's a shame I've had all the grief with mine because there's a lot to like. Fantastic camera that comes on instantly you press the shutter button, the iris recognition which is a lot better than the early reviews suggested, Hey Cortana, the screen with almost double the ppi of the iPhone 6S screen.
I'm almost tempted to return my 950 and get the 950XL which has a working FM radio and which people generally seem to be happier with the battery life of.
Worth noting as an extra that you currently get a free 1 year subscription to Office 365 Personal.
Ignore the reviewers and speak to the people that actually use the phone as it drives me crazy the negative reviews. The battery on mine lasts easy an day and a half.
I guess you have yours on standby and not actually using it? Mine lasts for about 6 hours and frequently on charge.
No mate just got the screen on cool which I guess is a personal thing, got rid of the apps running in the background and a few other things. Nothing special like.
If I use mine for browsing continuously, I doubt I get more than 3 hours - 4 tops.
Why using edge and scrolling down a page fast, does yours play catch up? (ie takes a few seconds to generate the screen)
Taking your phone away from your ear, does your screen wake up? This bug / fault makes it the most annoying phone Ive ever owned
To be honest I've never browsed for hours on it so I cant comment on that.
Never noticed that problem with edge though I am on 4g so maybe that's why?
All the calls I've made I've never lost the screen once on it.
4G has nothing to do with it. Its the same on wifi. Get HUKD on the screen, then scroll down fast, Do graphics stay on the screen without disappearing?
Tbf that has more to do with bugs in the site design/programming than anything else. It's optimised and tested for iOS, Android, and the main desktop browsers but I have had a lot of problems on even IE on WP8.1 - it won't even login, and the issue you mentioned is also present on other browsers such as the majority of non-android TV browsers and console browsers too. It's also laggy as hell, I'm guessing because of some plugins that are used.
But there is a solution! Get a non windows phone! lol
In the meantime I've finally got a work around for my blank screen when calling problem. Double pressing the power button activates the screen BUT the proximity sensor no longer works. You would not believe the number of times I've had problems with this that I wanted to bin it!
The solution is to use the official app! My solution is better than yours (and my dick is probably bigger too) :D
I reported the issue to support a while back and they said no one else has mentioned it. This is obviously because most people either use the app or are on iOS/Android. Also most people check sites like this when they are at home chillin' rather than out n about. Here's hoping they fix it sometime soon! It could do without being so script-heavy.
This sites doesn't like feedback or criticism so hardly surprising.
PS. Congrats on the 13 inches! Lol
Actually they were quite welcoming!
[email protected] inches X)
OMG!!!! Bigger? X)
Obviously! ✌X)✌️

You wont believe this, but after months of problems with the screen not coming on during a call, it seems its finally cleared! Hallelujah. Didn't notice a firmware update - but it started behaving yesterday.

All 3 phones come unlocked so is still a better option than this offer.

Darn it, I wish I'd know that and yes it is a better offer. I''m in a sim only contract and I wanted a black one so this is still the best deal for me (and only me). I am only £2.28 worse off (£3.07 - £0.79 2% quidco), so not too gutted.

Never posted a hot deal yet, at least I'm consistent :-(

Doesn't bother me being locked to 3..... was gonna change to em anyway as they're currently the cheapest PAYG i can find.

That's great for you and other 3 users, but when buying sim free this is the cheapest. PAYG will generally be cheaper which is OK if it's cheap to unlock, which this isn't. Your deal is more expensive IMHO, but kudos for pointing it out. :)

I did look at that one but it will be locked to the 3 network I assume and I wanted sim free. Had a google and it's around £20 to unlock, making it more expensive for me. This one is sim free, unlocked already. ☺

I bought this processor 3 years ago, I love it, it never runs higher than 20% usage. Before I got my H100i water cooling it ran at 50-60°c but now it averages 13°c so over clocking is really easy. Believe it or not I bought for £110 from either eBuyer or Scan and the price rose some time after, for whatever reason. Great buy then and now.
Screenshot of your cpu running 13c today?

PLEASE NOTE
Cooling works by removing/replacing heat, nothing else. If your cooler, especially double fan/240mm radiator can pull enough heat away from your CPU/GPU then it will cool to lower temps than your room temp. I have a screenshot: https://gyazo.com/8f901ecc21c90649076382450e9afe48. 21 Degrees C while booting as that is the temp of my room, down to 8-13 Degrees C after the fans/watercooling has taken the heat out.
But please do tell me I've put it in my fridge, which runs at 3 Degrees C, or my Freezer which runs at -16 Degrees C.

Lol, sorry for laughing. I suppose you think if you put a thermometer in front of a fan in a closed room the temperature of the thermometer will drop too? Do me a favour and try it.

AMD stopped using actual temperature sensors after one of the Phenom lines and now uses CPU algorithms to determine CPU temperature. This is not an accurate way to measure CPU temps at lower numbers, it's only accurate at higher temps when under load. This is why you are seeing insanely low idle temps that will spike up as soon as you stress the CPU.

So no, your 8 core @ 4.7 GHz is not running at 10C'

Also, I found this CPU on ebay for £90 last year. Clocked it up to 4.7GHz with Xigmatek Aegir and Gentle Typhoon fans. Best bang for buck CPU today no doubt but AMD seem to have stepped out of the enthusiast market so your system will not be future proof with this CPU.

Edited By: ParkourPaul on Jun 09, 2015 07:55
All this obsessing about idle temperatures. They really mean nothing. What you want to do is test full load for a couple of hours.

Nearly 4 months wait so if you need a phone now.........

Also you will be able to sell for around £400 when new one comes out.
I think you'd struggle without the official box and unused accessories. Think these come in a generic box with an unofficial charging cable, decent deal but if you're looking to resell you may want to look elsewhere.

I had the 16Gb version - it had an annoying lag/redrawing delay but worst of all was the battery life. Amazing standby time, but truly awful when the screen was on. It would need a charge by 4PM. The screen was a bit muted for my liking too, despite tweaking.
I've had a Z3 for 7 months and it's the best handset I've owned. Great screen, no lag, front speakers, expandable memory, waterproof, the battery never needs charging before midnight, and sometimes lasts 2 days of heavy use.
I'm not a fanboy, I used to own a G2 which I thought was great.
Thanks for the info. I didn't know the z3 had front facing stereo speakers. Thought htc was only choice :)

Good price. Not sure if I'd go for this or the Oneplus One
Lack of SD card support in the OPO swung it for me.
With 64GB on the OPO there's really no need for an sdcard.
Oh yes it is, imagine all your pics and videos and data gone if the phone breaks and you have to return it for repair...
With an SD card, you just take it out...
Imagine all your pics and videos and data gone if the card corrupts and you have to return it for repair...
With an SD card, you have just as much chance as it "breaking down"
Over the years, I had 0 cards failing on me, with phones, well, pretty much every single one of them at some point had an issue.
When is the last time you drop your card and cracked its screen ? :)
Now ask me when was the last time I've dropped my phone and cracked the screen. NEVER!

I'd be willing to bet that most who comment on the failings of the M9 have never even so much as held one. I've got the M9 and I had both the M7 and M8 before it. There are subtle difference which make a big difference to how the phone feels in the hand. The camera is fine most of the time. It's really quite good in well lit conditions and there are no overheating issues as its been fixed. I'd recommend anyone to try one out, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Overall its still a great handset. Good to see it coming down in price, might get a few more people access to it.

Had an m8 and an m7 - camera was shocking on both handsets, despite the feel. If you are paying premium prices you want a premium experience - the camera is far from that.

For everybody who is complaining about M9's camera - http://androidcommunity.com/htc-outs-camera-software-update-for-one-m9-photos-improved-20150410/
They could easily improve the quality with software updates.
see my post above.... its still crap. its hardware related not software
true.. you cant do much about the hardware, but I just mentioned it as many are basing their decision based on early camera software. The update made things better, but as you say not as good as other flagships.
of course. I only post as its such a shame that let's the phone down. the m8 was lovely

Exactly, for some reason they used some toshiba sensor as opposed to the the sony ones their rivals use - that looks like the culprit for the average camera performance.

The only thing I'd watch out with a new screen from a supplier like that is:
1. Are they Apple authorised?
and
2. If you need to take the phone to an Apple Store or sell it on through Cash EXchange, for example, should that company decline it on my first point?
I just double checked on my phone via 3G its not just a new screen its the screen, buttons, back screen and bezel.

It is a good deal for somebody that cannot afford more than the asking price.
Yet the viewing angles, plastic build, lack of removable battery amongst other things are what are keeping me away.
I currently have a Nexus 4 that I paid £165 for nearly 2 years ago but lately it has been playing up.
I cannot afford so much for a phone this time around however I will probably use my Tesco Clubcard boost to get a Moto G at some point. Since I'm used to a decent screen and power compared to these "super budget" phones.

Before you throw away your nexus, I would recommend you try a couple of Custom Roms. I flashed my old Galaxy S2 with CyanogenMod and it has made a big difference.
Yeah thanks for the heads up Dante, but yeah I've had numerous ROMs installed in it. Currently back at stock for Lollipop but I will try to flash it one more time before giving up on it. :)

Erm are you going to get all defensive because you posted the deal?

I have already voted this hot since it is more than £40 off RRP.
However personally I believe I can get a much better phone for roughly £20 more.
Therefore I would not buy this phone even at this reduced price.
Sorry you think I'm being defensive, just so many on HUKD make broad statements but don't elaborate.

As I say, ultimately it's up to you which you choose. If this is the phone you want, then you can get it here or new at Argos.

Doesn't "fulfilled by Amazon " just mean just delivered by them???

Delivered, covered by their 12 months warranty and free returns.
It's £109.99 now :)
woldranger
For those people that think this is similar to the S5 then you should most probably buy one. In all honesty, if you wont notice the difference in spec then you may well not notice the difference in performance. In my opnion, too many people buy phones, cameras etc because they're the newest and best, not because they'll get the most out of the newer hardware. Each to their own. But for those of us who delve a little deeper then the most obvious place where this falls short is the appalling screen resolution. If I had some spare cash I'd love to drop £100-150 on a phone direct from China to see just how well they work day to day
I used a thl for a year and a half and it was brilliant far better then the Samsung s4 I'm using now with the exception of the GPS. No crashes or freezes and no terrible UI to have to deal with a brilliant camera to. no gorilla glass though and after one drop to many the screen cracked but once my contract is up I will once again go back to a "China" phone

Didn't realise it was for the white on specifically. I prefer the black one anyway, the white looks cheap.

I just wanted to say, I bought one of these from tesco and its a great phone, but I can't get it unlocked as no eBay sellers can find a code. Apparently this is a known issue that affects some handsets

That suck's it's been a weird issue with unlock codes for years, usually Nokias that have the most issues. Have you tried the guy I suggested in the OP

Yes, smgreen is the guy I've been dealing with (excellent and highly recommended btw - good call!). There is a problem getting unlock codes for these phones since Monday apparently. Recommend buying the sim free version atm if you need sim free, I can try again in a week but no guarantees.
Same issue with mine 4G Moto G. No one has been able to unlock the handset. Tried 5 sellers and all failed

Also. Try getting the back off the thing.

Sorry last edit. If you buy them from the 02 shop (where I got mine) they are unlocked.

That's surprising to hear, I've never had a phone bought from O2 (5) be unlocked.

Moto G?

Not a Moto g, just various phones I bought from them.

That's kind of slipping away from this thread mate.

I also refused to pay for the £10 credit that you had to purchase to get it. all he did was put a code in the computer to remove it. might be helpful for someone.

Didn't have to pay £10 credit to get it.

Can report no screen flashing issues.

I'm looking to build my first computer and going to use this CPU, can anyone pls recommend a motherboard for this around £100 preferably with built in WiFi.

Thanks in advance for your help.
My preferred boards are Gigabyte G1.SNIPER Z87, which is £97, and MSI Z87-G45, with is around £102, or if you want a smaller M-ATX board, a MSI Z87M-Gaming for around £120. Neither come with wifi but it's cheap to fit that yourself. If you want a tiny M-ITX board, my favorite is the Gigabyte Z87N-WIFI at £99, one of the limitations of it being a M-ITX board is that 16GB is the maximum amount of memory that you can fit.

Noclouds thanks for your feedback, what do you think about Asus Z87-Plus at £106? I mean to be honest I don't have a vast knowledge of IT but after doing little bit research I found that Asus monos are good and Z87-Plus is right around my budget. Also don't think its worth paying extra for the built in WiFi. Is there any difference between a WiFi card and USB WiFi adapter in terms of speed or anything else.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. ASUS make excellent motherboards but slipped down in the rankings for returns with production run faults compared to several rivals. To put that in perspective, you'd still have to get pretty unlucky to get a DOA or faulty component crippled board from them, I remain a big fan of them. Gigabyte have been top for the number of samples that fully work out-of-the box with fewest returns. MSI aren't quite up there but offer great value for money for their feature set. Both of the boards are system builder favorites, especially with gamers. Both are relatively good overclockers (though at that price point it is fairly hard to find a Z87 performance board designated as a good overclocker that isn't hitting virtually the same overclocks as others at that price) and are two of the better boards for sound, keeping in mind that a better USB or PCI sound card will give you better sound but up the budget. The MSI features the 1150 sound chip/codec but also a fairly advanced headphone amplifier, so you can use 'audiophile' headphones that often are quite high ohm. In other words, on a regular motherboard with the sound turned full up, they aren't perhaps load enough for users (with some higher ohm audiophile headphones). With the Gigabyte, they chose a relatively high-end Texas Instruments OP2134 operational amplifier, fairly high-end audio capacitors from Nichicon, a pair of gain switches, isolated circuitry. You also get onboard Creative Sound Core3D quad-core audio processor. LAN is Killer E2200 LAN. Where MSI claim to use military grade components for reliability, GIGABYTE have their own 'Ultra Durable' 4 Plus technology. I like Gigabyte's UEFI bios layout and options but not everyone agrees with me. There are, though, so many forum posts, you won't be lost for help if you want to tailor the settings. It reviews well but some of the better review sites show it"s USB 3.0 performance is relatively poor, fan header positioning is a bit frustrating and the auto overclocking presents aren't very impressive. Many people prefer to manually overclock but if you do it properly, bit by bit, to find the best stable 24/7 OC at sensible settings/heat, it can take more time. Like the Sniper board, the MSI Gamer is very popular with system builders selling gaming rigs. It similarly doesn't have the best auto overclocking, or if you prefer both boards sensibly err on the side of caution for people new to overclocking, USB 3.0 performance is better and though it has less efficient VRM than the G65 board, it's still possible to get a good stable OC out of it, helped by the amount of thought that went into fan control from both the bios and software. I find it very to recommend one board over the other, though I usually default to Gigabyte for their, comparatively, low rate of returns.

Wi-Fi. There are a lot of cheap and good solutions but we live in an old house with thick walls and if that sounds like you, look at the TP-Link TL-WDN4800 450Mbps Wireless N Dual Band at around £27. I know, it's a lot of money but when you consider that some of Amazon's biggest sellers in Wi-Fi are range extenders purchased by people frustrated at the poor Wi-Fi range in their homes, that price is almost bearable. I use USB dongles, though wouldn't necessarily recommend them because, aside from not having antennas, they run relatively hot, With the walls being so hot, I had to make a dish for them, out of a metal steamer basket, you know, the ones with folding leaves that open up like a flower. That increased pickup vastly, including listing neighbors wifi, including those who live a surprising distance away. It's mad but I run an operating system not meant to run on PCs, it has problems with wireless cards but works fine with most USB ones. A cheaper PCI-E solution, if you have reasonable signal strength, is, say, the TP-Link TL-WDN3800 N600 Wireless Dual Band at around £18. There are so many choices, though.

If you want a tiny M-ITX board, my favorite is the Gigabyte Z87N-WIFI at £99, one of the limitations of it being a M-ITX board is that 16GB is the maximum amount of memory that you can fit.

I'm looking to build my first computer and going to use this CPU, can anyone pls recommend a motherboard for this around £100 preferably with built in WiFi.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Motherboards for socket 1150 with built in wifi seem to be a bit lacking except the really expensive ones. I've just done a build and just bought a 12 quid pci x1 wireless card too, works great.

Use PC part picker website and then select your CPU and it will show you all the motherboard options.

Here is my build FYI: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/PSn

Thanks for your help, I've decided to go for Asus Z87-plus.

Great phone, nearly stretched to it but isn't this £55 cheaper from Simply Electronics?
Everyone bear in mind that WP8.1 is now released for developers.

I am not a developer but I have dev-unlocked my Samsung Ativ S and updated it last night with WP8.1, resetting it to USA region and language in order to take advantage of the Cortana app (only available to USA at present).

Well worth going through the few basic and simple steps to get it dev-unlocked - check online for guides, it is free to do and means you will always get updates as they are released rather than having to wait for carriers to release them. Here is a guide but there are others

Bear in mind your warranty will be void yadda yadda yadda.

Anyway, WP8.1 has a load of great new features and I love it. Such stuff as a really useful notification/quick app centre, three columns of tiles, Cortana, improved IE11 with lots of features and unlimited tabs, battery sense, wifi sense, storage sense apps, transparent start screen tiles with paralax backgrounds, a gesture based keyboard, like Swype but even faster, "quiet hours" app for muting calls and notifications whenever it suits, "inner circle" option to allow important people to break through "quiet hours", improved camera function and no doubt plenty of other useful features.

Give it a go.

Found an interesting post on the Nokia forum regarding battery life from someone who is getting a good length from a charge here: http://forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-1020/262870-lumia-1020-battery-drains-heavily.html#post2414371

I had already turned off double touch to unlock, but not turned down touch sensitivity. Last try before I contact O2 to try and get the battery replaced.

just tried it in the O2 shop this afternoon, to be honest, the screen is not very sharp, and the interface......not my cup of tea.....good price for whoever like and want a windows phone.....by the way, I took a very blurred 41 mega pixels photo in the shop....lol

The screen is not very sharp? It's over 720p and it's ppi is better than the iPhone 5S, so I have no idea what you're talking about.

And as for muckspreader1, it's the best camera phone by a million miles, with ten times the detail of any other camera phone. Just look at the examples, nothing comes close, especially when zooming!

Don't worry about the troll that is muckspreader. He lives by his name. He appears in most Windows Phone threads and spouts complete garbage. I think he's just lonely and sad.

The camera isn't the best in all instances owing to the slow startup and shot-to-shot time. It won't be a great camera for everyone. Had this on the Refresh deal a few weeks ago for £240. In my experience battery life was poor and the camera, whilst taking excellent photos in many instances, had a few shortcomings. This, coupled with the fact that I couldn't get a lot of the apps I'm used to using - even official apps that did exist were pretty poor - meant that I ended up selling the phone on for the £240 I paid for it. Some of my friends have this phone and love it though so not everyone will be the same. Assuming that it is simply the best camera FULL STOP though is simply not true as every camera has its advantages and disadvantages.
The battery life seems very hit and miss, in that some people get reasonable battery life and others do not. I believe it may be firmware related like the 920 was on release still, but it could also be some bad batches.

For comparison, I have the 1020 from the O2 Refresh deal, and get less than a day battery life with hardly any use and with the same apps on it I had on my HTC 8X, which got almost 3 days on a single charge. Considering the similar specs (1020 has a better camera, twice the ram, more storage and an AMOLED display but is otherwise virtually identical spec wise), there should definitely not be this difference in battery life.

Nothing quite says luxury like the fake-leather back cover on this phablet.

How to buy in india ...
I doubt it would get through Indian customs without being stolen.

How to buy: 1) Finish school. 2) Get a job (or give a number of them - giggedy) 3) Buy in India (pronounced like in SF2, Dhalsim stage)

Moto G is bootloader locked and must void warranty to root it. No SD slot and replaceable battery. To some this doesn't matter, but for me, it does.

What's the difference between this and a sim free version?

Very good question asked.
Answer: No difference, just cheaper BOTH UNLOCKED
