Tab tops and eyelets are great for blackout but not heat insulation. My bedroom window is double glazed but the cold that radiates off it even with the heat on means I’m warming cold air as the radiator is below the window, I close my bedroom curtains as soon as the sun starts going down to trap cold out and heat in, it’s cold being in the penthoose at the top!

Just a follow up on this... received Mic and can say it's amazing. Makes the world of difference when streaming compared to other rubbish "omni-directional" mic we had. Can be heard crystal clear on streams now. These mics are popular a reason!
Only thing to say is... this mic is huge LOL... I wasn't excepting it to be so big. Although most of it is the stand so you can get rid of most of the bulk if you use one of those extending stands.

It really does seem to be the go-to mic for streamers and podcasters. That's how I found out about the Yeti to start with. I wasn't sure if it was just hype, but after streaming with it for a while I can see why it's so popular.

Just a word of caution. I spoke to Amazon on Live Chat and they were adamant that customs tax wouldn't be refundable if you refuse the package. This does kinda make sense to me - may be worth checking yourself if you have a second one on order at $99 and were planning to decline delivery.

Would they not have to refund the import tax?

EDIT: I spoke to someone online, they said if you refuse the package - you'll be entitled for the full refund (including tax + delivery)

But they are currently not doing price match/refund difference, due to policy from November, possibly because of Christmas pricings etc

Not only summer, I use mine all year round because of permanent night shifts.
What I did though was remove all the pop off rubber suckers and attach pieces of stick-on velcro around the wall surrounding the window and the matching already attached velcro sticks to these, It now takes seconds to attach and remove the blind and gives total black out without condensation forming on the rear in winter.

We found that the fabric quality is similar to bloc blinds, perhaps marginally better. But the roller/chain mechanism is much better quality and a lot smoother. The chain in the bloc blinds were a bit stiff even after adding a bit of grease. The bloc blind still looks great and we've kept the one we ordered, just not as good as Luxaflex. We changed all the others in the house to Luxaflex. We went to John Lewis first to look at the Luxaflex samples (they have millions of them) then ordered them from Vale Blinds which charge about 40% less. If they don't hold the blind on the window then it's obviously a waste of money, or if there is only a 50/50 chance it will stay up, imagine being on edge all night waiting for it to drop!

I am planning to use Velcro (available at Tesco for £3 and stick it on the edge of the window (only at the top and if needed on the sides). The gro anywhere has velcro on its edges to help with managing with the window size.

I presume that velcro option will be much more stable! Just one of the solutions (as I do not want to use sucker caps due to the venetian blinds that I have for the window).

Really good microphone for youtube use.

I don't see a screen on it...
Added heat - would have done so if it was fish for Darkie's description
I can't emphasise enough the difference a good mic will make. Even if you're just playing games with friends on something like Teamspeak, Skype or Mumble regularly, since getting the Blue Yeti I've had a few occasions where people have commented how clear the audio is. The downside to this is it can pick up a mouse fart in the other room.

Beware that if you use the stand that comes with this, and you sit it on a desk with your keyboard it will pick up every single key press like a deep bass beat at a rap concert, either place it on a different surface or mount it on a boom arm.

If anyone is interested in a desk mount arm for this, I've been using this one since early 2015 amazon.co.uk/gp/…42Q it clamps to the desk very securely, I've not had to alter it since installing it.

The one thing I would advise (as some of the reviews on the product mention), it's worth getting a metal screw size adapter to fit the mic rather than the plastic one that's supplied, as the Blue Yeti is quite heavy. They sell them on Amazon for about £5, but you can pick them up on Ebay for around £2 including postage, I got mine here ebay.co.uk/itm…586?

Lastly, this mic is designed to be spoken into from the side, not head on like a stage mic, see this graphic for an idea cd.bluemic.com.s3.amazonaws.com/ima…png .

Hope this helps. Heat added.
