11 speed cassettes fit on the same size mount as 10 speed. To achieve this …11 speed cassettes fit on the same size mount as 10 speed. To achieve this they are fitted closer together and consequently have a narrower chain. Teeth for a thicker 10 speed set-up might not play nicely with 11 speed.


On the back, yes, if you ran a 10 speed chain on an 11 speed cassette. On the front they are practically interchangeable.

That was the conclusion I came to , haven’t got deep enough pockets at this time of year.

You really need to replace the whole groupset to get the improvement that Dura Ace offers...so £1200 is about the going rate for a 9100 mechanical groupset.

In my experience 10 Speed chainsets work perfect with 11 speed systems and front shifting works great.

It is very cheap after all. A similar Shimano chainset is twice as expensive. And replacement chainrings aren't cheap either. Better of buying two of this.

Was wondering why this hadn't turned up, realised I never ordered it....

Would appreciate a bit more assistance. The bike I'm fitting it on has a 7 speed cassette.

Should I fit a nine speed chain, or will a 7 speed be fine?

another apply chisel to inside of crank by the bb axle and using hammer … another apply chisel to inside of crank by the bb axle and using hammer and leverage remove by pressure by the centre of the crank as if pressure is applied unevenly at cranks they will not come off this is the problem with getting these off with the normal hammer method that I used to on the majority of times in my childhood be unsuccessful with everyone out there knows who have tried what it's like bashing away and totally wrecking everything but getting off the chainset think I always managed to get off in end but can do more damage than good and a great workout if that's what you want.


And... take a deep breath.
I've used a bearing puller successfully. Makes a mess of the cranks but if they're going in the recycling bin anyway its not an issue.

This is Hollowtech so needs a Hollowtech compatible bottom bracket.

This should work with any 68mm x 108 to 113 (approx) mm english threaded bottom bracket.

The gearing is very much race oriented and not really suited for mountain bike.
This is Hollowtech so needs a Hollowtech compatible bottom bracket.

As I understand it they are compatible.

Sheldon Brown's site is regarded as the ultimate authority on such things and it states 'All Hollowtech II cranks work with all Hollowtech II bearing units'.

In fact I think this may not be true for the very latest Shimano Dura Ace Cranksets, but I'm sure that a 105 crankset is compatible with Ultegra Cups.

Finally got to test out this chainset. So far so good! Light, stiff and looks fantastic, though still prefer the Hollowtech II setup. Think the RRP is a tad high but the Chain Reactions offer is smashing.
