the cooler has been nerfed from the 1600 which actually had the beefier spire cooler. don't expect to OC above the boost speed 3.9 with the stealth 65w tdp cooler.

Haha, nah I've never worked for CEX. I just think that dismissing them based upon some preconceived notions of quality is a mistake. This is HUKD after all, we're here to hunt down bargains without prejudice of store clientele, or personal hygiene (cheeky)

... and which store do you work in?? ;) it's a good point though. Their two year guarantee policy is pretty good to be fair.

I agree there's definitely a lack of diligence in their product identification and testing procedure (for certain item types), but this can be made to work to your advantage. (undervaluing due to misidentification) Moreover if it doesn't work, or isn't as advertised (their strict grading definitions work in your favour in this instance), simply send it back. There's absolutely no risk.

I would never buy anything from CEX more than about £30. The guys testing the stuff are clueless and wouldn't know the difference between a CPU and the CPS. If anyone wants to got used, Amazon Warehouse deals are the best. Cheaper than CEX and generally just open box returns.

All installed looks really good and so far only slightly louder than my case fans. Running nice and cool as well with a small overclock to 4.4.

Item has now sold out. Whoever went for it enjoy the bargain!

Thermal Grizzly grrrrr

Depends on the CPU, INTEL is using paste between the die and the heat spreader, so it's worth delidding them. AMD is using solder except on their last 2 APU'S, so not worth it on the ryzens except the APU'S.

There are delid tools available. Delided 7700k not so long ago. Tool was 3d printed and bought that for £6. All i had to use is vice

Been like this since Feb. Decent if you are running stock or a tiny overclock. I wouldn't push it to limits without sacrificing noise.

Is this any good for a 8700k? (mildly overclocked)

You do realise there's other vulnerabilities which exist to elevate your rights up to admin? So the point is sort of redundant.

I disagree they are 'low level and far less serious'. The simple fact there are so many different exploits available is very disturbing.

Who said AMD could do no wrong? Yes these vulnerabilities are there, BUT they are low level and far less serious than the report made out.

No, it's not. And that's why all the tech sites covered it, because it was a legitimate issue. To wave it off as if AMD can do no wrong is just bias flowing.

The whole piece was a hit job on AMD to drive shares down in the short term, and to repeat the claims in the report is just plain stupid.

Ryzen 3 2200G with Wraith Stealth Cooler and RX Vega Graphics - Black £79.99 @ Amazon
Found 21st MarFound 21st Mar
Ryzen 3 with onboard Vega 8 graphics. Was £90 The 2400g is also reduced by £10 but this is the best bang for the buck, as it were

Let's be real though, 2020 is not far away and AMD have been know to do half upgrades. They did AM2 and AM2+ and AM3 and AM3+. They will likely do a AM4+ where their new chips 'work' on the old boards, but are cut down in features. AMD *will* be changing their socket every 'other' generation, they just have a longer cycle between generations planned. I just can't see this board being suggested for gaming, full stop. I wouldn't suggest the Geforce 1030 for Gaming, and it's superior to this APU in performance. I'd say if you even want to talk about 'gaming' you should get a minimum of the 750/950/1050 cards, which can be had for under 100.

I have saw a couple of articles and videos stating that you can "borrow" an old, socket compatible APU from AMD to do the upgrade and then return to them, I cant see if this is available in the UK too. I think Gamers Nexus stated it took over a week to get to them though.

Fantastic processor for the price but be aware that most AM4 boards, even though they say they support it, need flashing before use as the bios does not support the 2200g off the shelf. You may need a ryzen 3,5 or 7 processor to put in to the board first to flash it and get the bios to support the 2200g. If your buying from a reputable computer parts retail establishment then it may be possible for them to flash it for you before they post it... Maybe a small fee applied but it does save time.. I had to strip down my Ryzen 5 rig to get this processor working for my dad :(

Whoa, thanks for the reply!

Yes i removed the comment after i read the full article and didnt want to push inaccurate information, thanks for the link. Here it is clarity "The upgrade path for RAM would be to go from 1x 8GB sigle rank @ 2933 to 2 sticks at the same speed, maybe more with an overclock. 16 GBs or RAM is overkill for anything based on this setup, 8GB is more than enough but the upgrade path is most definitely there. As for the graphics capability, yes its not going to do AAA 60fps, but what complete system for £400 will? It will be good for slightly older games, especially with an overclock e.g DigitalFoundry had GTA V on High settings averaging 49.1fps." When i said upgrade path I really meant for CPU and GPU, as AMD don't change their socket every other generation and will support it until at least 2020 you can drop in a future Ryzen as long as the board gets a bios update and with a discrete GPU if the prices normalise. I had overlooked RAM in this. It does mean a bit more planning to get the ram you want for the system upfront (I dont like having to rely on selling to that so I wont say you could sell the lower capacity pair in the future), I'm not using it for gaming so am fairly sure that i wont need more than 8GB of ram so will get a 2x4GB 3000MHz from the start. Even for gaming that may be the best option, it would still bring a system in at under £400

This cpu and chipset is now over a year since its release - so your given 3 to 5 years one could class is as already between 33 and 20 percent of its life already spent. That is before even considering the fact it is already a previous generation product. Not a big deal when the market is uncompetitive and generation variances are just small increments. In a market where there is competition present, obsolescence accelerates, newer products jump in their advancements and prices tumble as the competitive edge is sought. Why would 1999 stick in my mind in demonstrating a competitive market in this segment!

Not really no, you need a system marked up as having gtx 1080ti sli to cover your needs.

Yeah not great. Awful case again from Stormforce.

What case and motherboard do you have

Will this work with an i7600k?

From my experience motherboard manufacturers are increasingly using 4 pin headers which support PWM control. It's likely that most will allow voltage control (as in 3 pin) in the bios but PWM is the better technology because it allows for finer control & lower RPMs without stalling the fan. Sleeve bearing fans also suffer premature wear and failure if you mount them horizontally.

Seems a bit bizarre that anyone would need 4 x 120mm fans but anyone who does would almost certainly have a fan controller or at least know whether they need one.

Imho pwm or bust If you have 4 pin headers on your mobo you're wasting them on 3 pin fans Good price though

For all those wondering where there is stock, I just went to Maplins in central London. They checked and the only store that has any in stock is Wolverhampton....and that branch is permanently closed (hence haven't updated stock numbers). So essentially, none in stock anywhere.

Yeah, also works with coffee and other heated beverages.

Is this to cool down tea

That's good to know, I hope all RMA's can be sent there, still think my PSU and maybe water cooler are under warranty.

No, they are in the UK now, specifically Bolton.

AM4 BARCKET included?

It requires removing motherboard if upgrading old cooler to fit plate to underside of it, if your case hasn't got an access. Cool beast! There is an option to fit second fan providing you have space for it.

Yep for free, they sent it express delivery from Taiwan IIRC, only took a couple of days. I no longer need it so if you want it then you can have mine for just the postage cost?

Yes, Unless you drill some holes in the gpu and fit the radiator onto gpu hahah... If you place the cooler on the bottom of the case and put the gpu on the last pcie slot it may cooler your gpu but you lost the speed of the gpu

Is there a way to connect this to a GPU as well as a CPU, as a 360 rad would probably be good enough for both?

Is it for free? I have contacted them and they want 12 euros for the mount. I don't have much confidence with their support as it was like merry-go-round with my email asking about the TR4 fittings, they keep pointing that I have an AM4 mount!!!

I had a the G4 Titan Magic Pad which is over 10 years old and that is more powerful than this one but is louder and did not have a tilt option, the power of this one is a little disappointing but seems to be stopping the laptop from running too hot! will see how it does under load and may swap back to the old one.

They don't provide a lot of cool air do they? I bought this for an older laptop that gets pretty hot when under pressure. Doesn't do a great deal for it

No idea was thinking the same, no place to put them on the unit I can see, so chucked them out, works as I need it without them :D
