3 left in Costco Croydon today for those in the south.

Since somebody brought up smoking, a 20 a day smoker will spend more than this in a year on fags alone. How many people do you know that are 20 a day smokers? If they all put that money in a jar once a day instead of smoking it, they'd have this in under a year. Nevermind the savings from not boozing 2-3 days a week as well. This is a huge amount to spend on a TV, yes, more than I'll probably ever spend on one myself because a TV just isn't worth that much to me, but if somebody wanted to, assuming they can afford 20 cigs a day, they could save for this. People in this day and age waste a tremendous amount of money just consuming extravagantly on a daily basis. And yet that extravagant spending is somehow disparate from single purchase saved-up extravagant spending. The cognitive dissonance is real. (Although I think the guys comment was more about, anybody can be rich if they work hard which, hey, I agree with as well)

Ok so I agree with you to an extent in that some people are gifted and perhaps therefore better equipped to be successful in certain professions - some which pay handsomely (like the idiots kicking a ball around for 90 minutes I just witnessed.) However, if you can become a millionaire by being able to make a condiment like reggae reggae sauce, surely there’s hope for us normal folk?

I didn’t say anything about intelligence mate... someone stupid born into wealth stands a far better chance than someone intelligent born into poverty.

So want require sole intelligence to become well off, hard work is far greater importance

I have the 65" and it sometimes puts its self on to a mode that makes the picture look weird, can be fixed by going to Menu (you have to put it to tv to get into menu) Picture, advanced setting, Movie Sense- turn this On then Off, then the tv will look fine. I agree the Samsung would be a lot better, I didnt want to pay £1000+ for a 65" from a good make when I got mine for £550, every person who see my tv likes the look and sound, but if I could have got a Sony/ Samsung etc for about £30 more I would have. If you plan to use the Apps dont get the digi.

having compared them side to side the Samsung is vastly superior in both sound and picture quality, so if buying the Digihome makes you feel good with its much lower quality and only slightly lower price then more fool you. The smart interface on the Samsung is better and faster too. Is the Samsung a brilliant TV? No, but it is much better than the Digihome when there is so little in the price difference. Had the Digihome been £279 then it would be different.

The Samsung 6120 is at the entry level and is a worthy comparison. The bottom line is that you have to go along with your budget. People buying this or the Samsung as a replacement for a much older television will see an improvement .

Everything about the Samsung 6120 is cheap. The panel, the cheap stand, the thick ugly black surround and a basic 60hz panel. It’s funny that someone said that only the “uninformed” would buy this digihome when that’s exactly the case with anyone who buys a 6120. If buying this makes you feel good because it has Samsung on it then more fool you. Also the “council”comment is weak too. If people don’t have a lot of money to spend on a tv that’s fine, there’s no need to be a snob about it!

Im pretty clueless about tvs could someone point me in the direction of the best buy upto 700 budget, thanks

i read on here yesterday or the the day before that there was a 1080p television with hdr (shock) really suprised me that did :o

The higher resolution actually doesn’t make such an impact- some cinema screens are still 2K! UHD brings HDR which makes a big difference no matter what distance you view at and what size your screen is. But the lack of HDR content is currently a problem. If you can’t afford a TV which can cope with HDR (most of us currently can’t!) don’t blow your budget - buy a very good 1080p TV (new ones are getting harder to find, seems like a repeat of the Plasma situation) instead of an average 4K TV.

no such thing as totally independent these days, especially when theres money to be made

I agree, JL or Costco (good CS too) I have 2 Samsung KS9000’s both from JL, one 65inch one 55inch, both had issues with light bleed/clouding. Both ok now. Speaking to the engineers who did the screen swap on one of mine it’s the price we pay for these ultra thin screens. Mind you, when they are good, they are very very good.

yep 100% with the 55 inch, now i have a good one it has a great quality pic. However no chance I would buy from anywhere else but JL now, their CS is fantastic

I'm torn between this and one of the new Hisense 55 U7. How reflective is the screen on the Mu7, and how does it handle the footie? Ta

I was torn between this and the Sony Xe8596 - the deciding factor was that the Sony isn't certified for iPlayer (world cup 4k) and reading online folks had massive issues even getting the FA cup 4k stream to load... Samsung wins this time (first time not buying Sony...)

The interface is too slow on the Sony for me. Samsung is much better, but with ads (shock)

theres other factors as well as picture - thats why i asked could anyone who bought one in recent days post their thoughts on this TV - it would be a nice change from presumption and throwaway comments (cheeky)

Pus the 43UK6300PLB is over £500 everywhere else.

Does the tv wobble on the stand or is it alright? Ordered the parents one of their birthday(s) but I'm worried it's gonna wobble if someone walks past etc lol...

That's annoying. Did they replace it without any hassle? I've ordered one, Parcel Force sent it from their hub to Exeter - wrong end of the country! Now on its way back to the hub, so I might get it by Friday.

So I have this for myself so I can actually give you guys some real reports instead of all this speculation thats going on in the thread... * It has Freesat support (I think any WebOS TV LG with a sat connection has Freesat support btw) * RGBW.. It's £279. I spent more on my 50' LG because I wanted a TV without RGBW. In this case I don't care for what it will be used for. 4k is just a bonus to me but I would have settled with 1080p as well for this kind of TV. *Chicken leg stands are horrible so I've ordered a VESA stand *Turn the brightness up and turn all the eco crap off + motion settings off and it looks fine

Be vary of purchasing such a large screen, that too a cheap one. The trailer loop I saw playing today on a 75 inch (not the model in question) looked like good SD not even HD. I was standing quiet near it but would rather get a quality big brand 65 inch tv around the £1000 mark than this.

Eletriq screens are provided by just one company who supply to Debenhams Plus via their distribution channel - which has different names depending on who they supply to. Debenhams will have nothing to do with the brand any recourse will be to the distribution channel not debenhams (Debenhams Plus is only very loosely affiliated to Debenhams), so after sales support will be very limited. There is a relative high failure rate for screens from this company but if you get one that does not fail users report a very good image. So it may be a bargain but it is a lot of money to shell out if there are problems.

Unknown brand + 1 year warranty makes me wary. So surely can't be much better than the Toshiba Costco deal to justify the extra price? And if you go for this, probably worth spending a bit more for the Hisense 75" deal at RS?

Only issue I have with this is changing the 4K settings. I don’t have a 4K player so watch 4K either via the inbuilt apps or Dnla. But, if you try changing the picture settings it just boots you off either the app or your network and dumps you back into the regular tv input. Anyone know how to get round this?

Qwar I reckon

Sorted the optical out. Went on the Philips website and there's a section on fixing problems.Basically all I had to was turn the tv off at the mains for a few minutes and then plug the cables in and then when the tv is switched back on it recognises the new inputs/outputs. Jobs a good un

Changed from this TV to a Samsung MU6500 due to image faults. I think in my head I glossed over the motion issues, terrible SD quality & general ugliness just because I loved the ambilight. The smart system, bluetooth universal remote & connectivity between devices of the Samsung completely blows this Philips out of the water. Ambilight is great but don;t let it cloud your senses with this TV.

This TV is not really in the same league as the Panny EX750B - the sony has a 50Hz (60Hz) panel where as the panny is 120Hz. The equivalent panny to this TV is the EX700B

Sadsak, Do you mean we are covered for 2 Year Warranty, and then 6 years for Repair or Replacement if there is a Fault with TV after the 2 year period? (If so, whats the point in buying a TV from the likes of JL or Sony 5 Year Warranty, when we are getting if Free under the EU Warranty). This would be Excellent if this is the case, but seems hard to believe!! Would like more Information, as looking for Sony Smart TV, but always looking toward 5 year warranty with Sony, but if what your saying, do I have to look for warranty from Sony?? Funny enough I have the same set & been thinking exactly the same, next door got an all singing dancing Samsung but it doesn’t look as good as our older Panny!

The Panasonic Neo Panels used were from Pioneers leftovers and the technicians from Pioneer moved over to Panasonic when Pioneer decided to stop producing televisions. My 8th Gen Kuro still kicks butt especially on the legendary black levels compared to the LED'S LCD'S that people currently have. SamsDung and other tripe Brands couldn't come anywhere near the top Pioneer and Panasonic sets!!!!!!

Havnt Panasonic gone down the pan? They made the best sets at the end of the plasma generation, the gt60 and vt sets were the best quality picture i had seen. 10/10 sets, reference quality. Eclipsed the pioneer kuro sets. That was 5 years ago. I think my gt60 plasma still looks better than the mother in laws brand new 4k all singing all dancing Samsung set.
