Bought 3, 3 died hard and early. Read the other threads, disastrous quality control. Wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

I have an older one and of the 5 mechanical disks connected to my main PC it is the only one with smart errors; still working but I use it only for an extra backup because of the errors. I would recommend a different brand, even though it does look brilliant.

The LaCie Porsche design box has been around for about 10 years and actually looks quite good for a box. Unfortunately, it's not very good at its job as over heating is a major issue and results in hard drive failures.

Lol “Porsche” design.....a box

What if it turns into Fal'Cie

So this is more like a Peugeot.

Likely to be a SHR (Shingled Head Recording) Seagate hard drive inside, doubt it is PMR. Larger 6TB was £119.99 last week, as an indication of price.

We support the 1TB versions and above for a customer in France. Very high failure rate on these.. Guess these ARE great for the industry though.. more failures mean more work or sales.. (y)

Avoid LaCie gear at all costs. They look great and often offer good features, but they’re let down by terrible PSUs. Cheap design means the capacitors dry out in them and they die long before the HDD. The PSUs are also sealed units, so pretty much impossible to repair 👎🏻

All I commented on was about Thunderbolt allowing daisy chaining, and you're suddenly interrogating me about Firewire?!?

My comment was a joke to comment before scroll up and read xD

Don't know what planet you're living on mate, but I'd love to know where you can get a 6tb SSD for 120 quid!

Or you just put a USB hub in your hard drive to allow "daisy chaining", since USB supports 127 devices per port (but effectively 77 as you need to use hubs).

Hahahahahahahaha, no sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?!. It doesn't matter now anyway, as it's currently out of stock on the eBuyer website ...

No I got it (lol) but the keyboard is horrible on the Envy. It’s as if all manufacturers are like ‘let’s make an amazing machine but we’ll make one thing really bad so it’s not perfect’. Then they make the business machines nearly perfect but about 5 years out of date in design. Can’t win.

Sorry was making a silly joke

Don’t be that fussed, the keyboard did my head in so I went back to my Elitebook 820 which has much better action and a full size enter key. The keyboard is very mushy on the Envy and I kept making mistakes. Dell XPS has a good keyboard.

I gave up trying to order it

...their customer service is rubbish to say the least, so can't be arsed to got through the whole "nine yards" process (annoyed) I will place it though in my basket and wait for another "proper" discount voucher, maybe lucky, if not it won't the end of the world (cheeky)

No box for discount. Did you talked on chat before you place the order, or did you paid full price and they gave you a refund ?

I had to phone after placing the order, 1st representative said they couldn't apply the code as item already discounted, I had to argue the toss. I said my friend had successfully ordered one using the code and had informed me abiut the offer and that was the only reason I had put myself through a credit check... They crumbled in the end.

I really enjoyed the caterham build, not a lot too it but it’s well done

If couldn't get this Porsche past the house manager...but she just approved the the purchase of the Caterham, based on it being retired. Lego are sold out and JL down to last 8 in stock. I'm still grisly about missing the F40 (no retailer availability + high eBay prices is the only time I would consider a Lepin). I've heard the Caterham wasn't a great seller so unlikely to go up in value, but just want it to go with my others...I will keep the box and manual in perfect condition though to maximise its second hand value.

Straight over your head then.

Probably right, I don't have one. I buy stuff to build/play. No interest in these kind of investments.

Exactly, how else would you sell it. Either convince her that is or lie about the price.

I heard Porsche had had to delay the new Boxter release because all their designers were too busy with this...

I have this disk. It's not slow. It's not super fast either... but I can easily saturate my gigabit ethernet link between my desktop and NAS and writing direct to this disk using the USB-C connector.

Nice looking hard drive but the question is, how fast does it do 0-60 mph?

Doesn't seem to have a switch bit eco mode. Usually will take ages to wake and spin up. The older Lacie range does (with the old usb connector type)

Unlike all my seagate drives - at least 15 over the years. All died in less than 5 years and some within 2. I also have dead Maxtor, western digital, toshiba and samsung drives. The only HDD that hasnt yet failed is the HGST and any of my SSDs (toshiba, sandisk, crucial, Liteon)

it has a Porsche label on it but inside the case is a Fiat Punto.

I have have heard that these can be kind of unreliable. Nice build quality but I think the drives get a bit too hot in that thick enclosure and there is not enough venting underneath.

Cool, I'll buy this and can get a Porshe car keyring now without looking like a tool.

Good deal but Ebuyer... :S

It may say porsche on the body but it is a Fiat Punto underneath.

Depends on the premium and what you’re going to do with it. If it’s going to sit in view on your desk, or you’ll be taking it to work and using it in front of clients, paying more for a better looking drive may be worthwhile. If it’s going to sit out of sight, then probably not. Equally if it’s a small premium, say £10, who cares for something you’ll hopefully be using for years. Wouldn’t pay lots more though for a HDD enclosure.

Porsche Design. Who cares!

Never seen anything like that, but again it’s just me

Have Tesco become the new Toys R Us, that is hoarding retired Lego sets, if you don't learn from your own mistakes you should at least learn from a total disaster that was Toys R Us.

The boxes are battered and they use tape to put it together and than sell it as new stock

Got mine today looks great thanks op

I'm with superivanho. The first image on the site looks very different from the one showing it boxed. That shows horrible on/off left right buttons on a tiny controller and a much less detailed car. And how practical would a wheel be anyway unless you want to carry a table round with you? You would have to pray it was analogue rather than a left right switch. I know what my money would be on given the amount of thought that seems to have gone into the controls.

I can confirm that the Lamborghini has a full wheel. Mine arrived this afternoon.

i personally wouldn't trust it includes the steering wheel... look at the pictures on this item... http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_106010770699_-1 Looks super likely the staff copied & pasted random google images on their website. Also why the heck is there even a picture of a polo shirt!? (:I From another website after a google search, I found this: Which is totally different from the ones listed on debenhams.
