Okay, so mine arrived today - a lot earlier than I thought it would - and I had the app downloaded and setup in 2 minutes. Another couple of minutes to connect to Alexa, and it works perfectly. I've had great fun today getting various family members to say "alexa turn on socket" and then register their surprise when the lamp beside them comes on. And there was me thinking I would have absolutely no use for this at all. I'm going to order another couple to place around the house for when we go away on holiday, so I can turn lamps, tv's etc, on at random for security purposes. Or I'll just throw this one in a drawer and forget about it.

Do exactly the same. Have 2 controlling both sides of the blanket. When I first set one up for my side I got the usual oh here we go another gadget response. A few nights of asking Alexa to turn my blanket on when we are downstairs watching TV and all of a sudden someone wants one their side!
We have bought these in the past, had no problems, just put them on 10 mins to warm the sheets,i would say however silentnight electric blankets are a bit on the small size.prefer morrisons own make
I wouldn't advise linking any source of heat to any smart plug T.B.H.

Setting one and two are recommended for use in conjunction with the plug. We do not recommend leaving the blanket on setting three for prolonged periods of time.

Not true, you can control the plug, not the blanket.

Each heat selector unit is fitted with an over-heat protection thermal fuse that would trip out the unit permanently when a ‘hot spot’ or short circuit is detected.

I'll see if bin hasn't been emptied later.
I should have stated in first post that mine wasn't this model of blanket... Sorry.
Just thought I'd make people aware, i didn't even think about getting a new one because this one worked fine. My advice is if its getting old then think about getting a new one, it's not worth the risk.

Occasionally for a couple of weeks it goes to £35 but you would have to be a mug to buy at that price. Source = I have 5x of them

According to camelcamelcamel, the HS110 has only been at £25 three fairly short times during the past year, and below that only on Prime Day and Black Friday, so not sure how it can be considered the normal price. Having said that, the energy monitoring isn't overly useful for most applications, so I wouldn't buy more than one at this price - I got most of mine when Maplin had the deal on.

Remote works fine, the hub, does not. It's OK for standard installations that do not heavily rely on the plugs "working" but for me, if I buy something, I want it to work 100% of the time, for every single command.
These are garbage. Don't buy them! I've had 2 lots of 3. Both went back. Very unresponsive! It's a lottery whether they switch on or off. If you are away you can switch your lights off and on remotely to make …If you are away you can switch your lights off and on remotely to make people think someone is home....but tbh to make best use of these smart devices you need an Echo or google home...

And I do have an Amazon echo- and yes, if I happen to be in the same room as the echo I can ask echo to turn the plug on and off for me. But she then gives a audible 'OKAY' response, which late at night when wanting to turn off a light quietly , is a waste of time with echo screeching 'Okkkaaaayyyy!!' At me full blast

I suppose. But I can do that with a £1.99 analog plug in timer from Asda or Wilko

But regretting it, as realised that I have fallen for the hype of creating a 'smart home', and actually these are pretty pointless. For example, I set the first one up on a living room lamp. Only to the realise that actually, instead of now having to grab my phone , unlock it, launch the app, choose the lamp, then click on, that actually it was far easier, quicker and not to mention cheaper, just to switch the lamp on in the normal way.what else do people use these for, that actually makes something smarter??? I am struggling to think how to use the other two. I feel a bit of a mug for buying them now

Look at how/when you use things and see how it can be improved.

I have a lamp on the other side of the room to the door. I've can turn it on from Google Home, or I've stuck an Amazon Dash button to the wall by the door.

Kasa and IFTTT will put widgets on your home screen so you don't have to launch the app.

I use IFTTT and Stringify to automate sequences such as turning the heating on in that room, delaying 10 mins for me to load the dishwasher, then turning the light on.

I've got HomeAssistant running on a raspberry pi to watch when my pc turns off. Then the heating goes off, lamp gets a 3 minute timer, and upstairs lamp goes on.

I use the energy monitoring one for the kettle as I always forget about it. When it finishes boiling I get a notification then a 5 minute timer for brewing.

Prime only

I just flagged this as expired. It wasn't prime only yesterday.

Oh, yeah it clicks off when it's boiled, they all do that. That's essential to the plan otherwise the kettle would just keep boiling until it boils dry and possibly catch fire, and it wouldn't report 0 energy usage!

Yup, you just do things in reverse to how you normally would. After you've poured the tea you put cold water back in the kettle, flip the kettle's switch on and leave it. (My script turns the smartplug off.)
It's just the process now so I don't forget.

Saves me a minute of waiting about, several times a day. I appreciate it's not for everyone.

There are £150 smart kettles that do the same thing!

Yeah, luckily mine does that. And helpfully has a LED too. Just a £20 …Yeah, luckily mine does that. And helpfully has a LED too. Just a £20 Sainsburys kettle.

Which one have you got? Mine clicks off automatically when the water has boiled.

So I would need to put water in, leave the clicker down, then switch on kettle via this plug.

But I'd need to remember to leave the clicker down all the time.

Be interesting to know which kettle you use
