I wonder if all the thousands of people waiting on trollies in corridors for hours on end or the relatives of the tens of thousands who needlessly die at the hands of the nhs will want to buy into this pr stunt ?
needlessly die? evidence please? triage means the people who need the care most get it the most promptly so not sure where you get this from. As a frontline NHS member of staff I am a little confused.
As a front line member of staff you will know exactly what I mean by thousands of needless deaths then. Old people being left to suffer and die in their beds or on trollies. South staffs ring any bells ? Or have you all brushed this under the carpet already and "learnt from your mistakes" until the next nhs mass death scandal breaks.
And by evidence, I meant non-tabloid press evidence. I.e not out of the daily fail!
Just another health worker that ignores the fact that they kill thousands of patients a year and bury their heads in the sand ignoring it. What about todays news where the nhs has failed to investigate the death of hundreds of handicapped kids ?
You will no doubt ignore this also. My local hospital has just had nurses investigated and disciplined for neglect and being uncaring. Only the other day 3 nurses were jailed for their perverse neglect of their patients and falsifying medical tests.
There are many rotten apples in the barrel of the nhs and you are part of the rot by sticking your head in the sand and thus allowing the neglect and killing to continue . Shame on you....
Thanks. I am involved in audit and research so trying actively to make the NHS better. I'm not ignoring anything, just saying that sometimes your sources are less than reliable and asking for your evidence. You have no idea about me - none whatsoever. How am I allowing the 'killing to continue'? This ignorance is laughable. I have saved the lives of 3 patients I saw at work today and regularly get cards from patients thanking me for the care I give them. I am going to bed knowing that i do my best for the NHS and the patients I treat. Thanks for your gifted input into this thread.

Likewise as a front line NHS worker the ignorant and totally barbaric comments this individual is saying is utterly ridiculous. I wonder who he would call first if he became unwell? Are NHS workers meant to save everyone? Has it now become wrong for a person to die of natural causes? I am passionate about my role and my work, I constantly go above and beyond for the sake of patient care, under valued, under paid, the list goes on. But I still love my job and wouldn't want to work anywhere else.

I've never seen anyone die unnecessarily I'm afraid and I've worked in all acute areas of the hospital. If someone is unwell, they get seen and treated. It will be interesting when we all have to pay for our care in a few years time, might mean I see a lot less crap and more people who are genuinely unwell

Don't understand?!
He's incredible live!

What don't you understand? What an atrocious vocal that linked to...? I understood straight away because I'm a special snowflake.
I dunno maybe he had a really bad cold there in which case : trooper. But if not : ooooh dear....

It wasn't an atrocious vocal...
That's his voice!
I guess it's down to personal taste but it think it was awesome...
Pure raw talent
This is not the greatest album in the world.... This is just a tribute

I find it amazing that this album is so of it's time but also sounds timeless. Great British music in the vain of The Kinks, The Smiths, Bowie. Anyone who doesn't own it must buy it at this price. HOT

+4% quidco ;)

Don't mean to be pedantic but it's actually £3.79 as they add 75p transit insurance.. still a huge bargain though & thanks again ;)

I really don't understand why any company would put optional insurance. It was always amusing to see it on eBay. It's the seller who wants insurance not the buyer!
Buy this. It's fantastic and the remixes are top notch.

The credit you have to give them is that if you hear them you know its them. Secondly they are nothing more than a pop band but to my ears they sound a lot more musical than the likes of Beyonce, gaga, rhianna and that lot of garbage which all sounds like a wall of noise and shrieks. At least they are a band with real instruments.

over -produced commercialism of 'Nevermind' though.

I don't think that's fair - it's not like they set out to make it accessible. It became commercial and popular after birth, you can't posthumously brand it commercial because it started a movement. "over-produced" is a cheap shot too. They recorded at Soundcity. Tracked to tape. Cut and spliced with razor blades. Short of doing in Kurt's bathroom you couldn't get much more lo-fi.

Rubbish. It was highly produced and stuffed full of studio effects. Your description would apply to 'Bleach' and to a lesser extent 'In Utero', but you just play 'Nevermind' with headphones on and you can hear the difference. It is also well documented that this record was very much a studio creation, and albums before digital were on cut tape, so I am not sure what your point is there. Many of Nirvana's contemporaries like Mark Arm and Kim Thayil, have commented on how the original demos with Jack Endino and Chad Channing were much rawer than the polished finished product. Also, I could not care less that it sold more than just about everyone else at the time. 'The Joshua Tree' sold more copies than the Bible and I still think that is a great record - no matter how unfashionable it is to say so.

Only in the same way The Pixies used "effects", Soundcity was always renowned for being pretty low tech, they simply didn't have the facilities a lot of other studios had. It was probably part of the reason it was picked in the first place. Its not like it sounds like a NiN album. Demo's sounding rougher than the finished product is surely par for the course no?

Granted it sounds shinier than their earlier (and perhaps later) work but it's not like they were chasing some established pop music trope it was all pretty virgin territory for the genre - so really it only sounds "commercial" or "over-produced" within it's genre, it sounded pretty alien on Top of the Pops next to Ace of Base.

Yes, it was an amazing scene with some stunning bands. Eddies voice is indeed extremely special.

Vitaology (spelling?!) was the album for me, I think because it came along just as I started Uni & it was my soundtrack for those 3 years (along with smashing pumpkins).

Britpop & Oasis came along in 1994 but I thought that whole scene was limp & lifeless next to grunge.

Maybe its because I've always liked my rock raw & hard.

Always good to talk to a fellow grunge head. I am going to give Ten another re-appraisal on the back of this conversation!:D

Cheers man, peace.
suspended
I like you man, a fellow Seattle-ite!

It was always gonna divide opinion regarding who and what's best, but ultimately the music that came from that scene from the late 80s to the mid 90s hasn't been replicated since.

Look at the bands...

Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Screaming Trees, Melvins, Mudhoney, Temple of the Dog... etc etc etc.

I just wish they did a grunge festival!

Also I do agree that Nevermind was indeed "their" Sergeant Peppers.

Still, Ten, from the opening few seconds to the last makes me feel smile throughout. It's an epic, deep, rich sound... and Eddie's voice... my favourite of all time!

Cheers dude. Much love.

Now if it had really been MJ on the tracks... I would still have voted this cold! Lost it big time after Thriller. And, well, you can't fool all the people all the time.

Oh don't get him started...oh F&^^, his reply is already there.

Surefire_MJ does have a valid argument, the sod had me up late last night going over the latest album and comparing it with previous albums then I got on to mixing up some acappello and comparing tune after tune. Then on to Janet after getting to Scream. The new album is def worth listening to, I guess it's a new style of music for a new era.

Shame the royalties will hit the legal teams and sony first.

Thanks.

As for the money going to legal teams/Sony, bear in mind that the Jackson Estate (his kids) got $250 million from Sony for the rights to 10 projects, so they have already benefited too.

Michael Jackson said in his 2002 will that he wants 20% of any revenue to be given to the charities of his children's choice. Thats a tidy sum considering the $280 million "This Is It" grossed along with the money the Estate got from Sony (another $250 million).

Also, Michael Jackson died owning a 50% stake in the Sony ATV Beatles catalogue (currently valued at over $4 billion US dollars). He was by no means broke, just cash poor & asset rich.

This was a let down after band of brothers:(
It might not be Band of Brothers, but it's a lot cheaper at launch than BOB ever was.

DON'T go to Sainsburys for the DVD though, was in Morrisons this morning and they have it for £19.99!! Bargain!
FilthAndFurry
The Keeper
I watched the first 3 episodes and was the most disappointed man on Earth ...did it improve?
Not really. Mess of a show.Better off buying Band of Brothers, even if you already own it. I'd rather have a spare copy of a show I re-watch at least once a year than something I will never watch again.
Already got Band of Brothers on bluray ...a masterpiece!
I really enjoyed this, and I'll be buying it tommorow :D
I managed to get some asda vouchers through the FIFA 10 trade in, so this won't be costing me that much anyway :D
£15 and I'll buy.
Then it'll sit in the 'hardly ever watched' pile.
But at least I won't have paid too a silly price for it.

There isn't an Metallica Greatest Hits album, so I would suggest some of these are unofficial.

I couldn't remember the actual name of the album but it was a compilation & it was definitely official. It had a blue cover with the band on the front. The name escapes me. Sorry.

EDIT: Actually it is called 'Garage Inc.' & I don't think it is a Greatest Hits, my mistake!

Might help if you put where in the title. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn219/jumpingphil/thumbsup.gif

Oh sorry, I didn't know if this would be nationwide or not.

If anyone could confirm if this offer is available in their local store too; that would be great.

Much cheaper than itunes! Voted hot. Just wait for the cold voters tho - those who don't really understand how hotukdeals works....!

Members of these forums should vote on whether it is a deal, not whether or not they want it!

49p for a music track is very good these days, especially for a nice long live track!

Latest Morrisons flyer shows Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer for £9.99 with a picture of a Blu-Ray box - it's not Blu-Ray, I just rang my nearest store to check, it's just normal DVD.
Shame about that - £9.99 on BD in the week of release - that would have been HOT!
