Thanks - yep, they won't cover the boiler without a flue inspection hatch …Thanks - yep, they won't cover the boiler without a flue inspection hatch or some way to get into the roof to inspect the flue, a legal requirement or something now they said. So he immediately slapped a 'don't use this boiler' type sticker on it (which he said I could remove of course as he was more than confident nothing was wrong with the flue) asked me to sign a waiver and then proceeded with the service and to check other things. The boiler was well within all manufacturer parameters but 'computer said no' because of the lack of a flue inspection - which he knew about straight away

Do you have a commercial property
A boiler is expected to last 10-15 years. Cost of replacement including parts and labour between £2000 to £3000.

This "deal" does not make economic or financial sense

Consider that the likelihood is that your boiler would only need servicing/troubleshooting towards the end of its 10/15 year life and you are paying an awful lot of money for perhaps one or 2 visits. That is £3840 for 2 visits!!!

British gas wont touch anything over 15 years old and will start complaining about lack of parts/the age of your boiler once it is 8 years old.

I paid £80 for a local boiler repair person to replace the clogged up parts on my 15 year old boiler and it is as good as new - all that just for a little over the excess on this "deal"

But I truly found the deadline a godsend as I was worried already that my stashes were taking over my place. It was a great saving but I am shopped out, I think I did a couple (two Waitrose cards at home) of shops every day with a few exceptions. I am sure that my Waitrose reputation has gone down the drain, its been ages since we got any conditional spent coupons and now after this I can't envisage getting any in the near future

Lol! I was also in Waitrose a lot, so much so that when a block was put on my credit card (for other reasons!) and I called up to have this removed, 8/10 of the transactions I had to confirm were Waitrose. I've also not got conditional spend coupons for a while.. they sent me some coupons last week but the best was 25% off raisins. Hoping for some over Christmas. My local Watirose hasn't required authorisation for the coupon and I was told just to put the coupon in and out of the slot to - will need to be ready to plead ignorance if I get pulled up on that. I also won't be in Waitrose as much as I've started a new job and no longer drive past it twice a day.. probably not a bad thing.

How? No payment option is required for the free service?
BEWARE - if you book a boiler service like this they sign you up to an "Insurance and Repair" agreement, which you can not cancel online. I have tried once to cancel agreement by phone and they cut me off. Booked a phone call back.

Did manage to contact the boiler service online.

Got 12 days, and my tariff is free electric every Saturday, so 64 days …Got 12 days, and my tariff is free electric every Saturday, so 64 days free a year

They stopped the free weekend electric now as its reached its target so when I asked they said no but you will stay on it but I do get 16 days free electric when they decide to give it me as it can take upto 12 months and its only free 9am to 5pm I was told so they work out what you use in the 12 months waiting to calculate and then credit for that amount.

Terms on site -11. Your average daily electricity usage is calculated over a period of 6 months if you are a credit customer and over a period of 12 months if you are a

prepayment customer. To calculate the amount of credit you receive for your electricity usage between 9am-5pm per day, we apply a percentage of

35% to your average daily electricity usage and use the unit rate of your current tariff at the time that the credit is applied.
I got 20 free days but what does that mean.. when do they get taken off my bill?

Feeling a bit thick as I don't understand. I am entitled to 16 free …Feeling a bit thick as I don't understand. I am entitled to 16 free electricity days. My interpretation was they work out average usage and give you a credit x16 in my case. Am I wrong as folk talking about turning the electricity up?

This is why I originally pointed out that the saving isnt that much. Hypothetical situation (very simplified):

Period of 10 days. Use 100kw/h on day 1, 0kw/h for the next 9 days.
Situation 1 you pay sod all as you claim day 1 free.
Situation 2 as is the case here you pay for 90kw/h and get 10kw/h free

Now expand that, 20 days on the same rule you get to pay for 95kw/h etc.

So the longer the period the less you actually get back and as this is over 6 months/12 months..... Well you see where i'm going with this. Tight arse BG ********.

That was my understanding. Can't see it being anything different
