Compares with the amazon spec pretty closely and as you say, the Acer gets decent reviews. IMO the only compelling reason for getting the Fire is if you are prime member and are immersed in all things amazon. Neither can match the few remaining android premium tablets but both offer a more than decent tablet experience at a modest price.

Depends what you want to do with it. I have an Nvidia shield TV but thinking about getting an ATV 4k because I want to build a digital library of 4k (and preferably DV) movies and Google Play Movies is an absolute horror show, content wise. I'm actually getting irritated by how long it is taking them to release a good number of movies in 4k hdr/dv. USA has a lot more choice but still not as much as iTunes.

That being said, I do like the shield, particularly the ability to emulate old games.

Dont really know anything about the Nvidia shield but I would say that apple tv would appeal to anyone who buys or rents films/tv shows via iTunes as you can only view on apple devices or PC. Can you get iTunes on the shield? And can it playback 4K?

Although 4K blu ray players can be bought for cheaper, the current situation is that not all films available digitally are even available on disc in 4K (for example home alone and mrs doubtfire, I bought very cheap and not available on uhd discs) however this may change and be released on disc in the future. But I suppose the opposite may happen for some films which may get a disc release and no digital version but I see this being unlikely. Its ideal to have both platforms imo as apple now support amazon video too who also fo uhd downloads and rent/buy from the cheapest store.

Also note, you can overclock all cores to 4.4Ghz (as I have) by setting your BCLK to 102.3Mhz. Gives you a little extra performance for free!

Note this is different to normal overclocking which is done by increasing multipliers and cannot be done on non-K chips.

They had so much free play I had to wedge card board on top of the arm so they didn't come so far forward when you release pressure on them, unplayable before this. I contacted Thrustmaster who informed me this is a feature. I disagreed and after several unhelpful emails I flogged it on ebay..I've no idea if these GT edition pedals are as bad?

The T3PA pedals you get with the GT and Alcantara Editions of the T300 are superb. The brake mod is also included and that's a complete game changer.

I found that the screen on a Sony XZ Premium is much more detailed when both are on their highest resolution. I am quite short sighted and hold the phone close without my glasses on, so this may not be the same experience for everyone.
I've also found that the WiFi speed on my S8+ has fallen through the floor. Overall the Sony was a better phone.
misterleoni18 h, 22 m ago

I don't think many Android devices light up when notifications come in. I …I don't think many Android devices light up when notifications come in. I can't think of any, in fact. The G6 and S8 certainly don't out of the box. There are apps like Glimpse Notifications that purportedly offer this feature but I haven't tested anything like this. Not sure about Google Daydream as the Nokia 8 is IPS not AMOLED and Google don't seem to like IPS judging by the currently supported models.

You can set edge screen function to light up round the edges of the screen when recieving certain notifications on the s8. It briefly flashes the color of the notification being recieved. Also, a small notification light constantly flashes on the top bezel.
In addition, if you have the always on display set...any notifications will be displayed in a small circle.
These are actually decent features...its just a shame about other issues with it.
I have just got the S8. The screen is lovely, but have to say, in general its a bit of a let down.

Bixby is absolutely useless and ok, you dont have to use it...but they have put a useless dedicated button on the side that cant be used for anything else and is a pain in the neck. Also, they used bixby, an undeveloped feature as a selling point which is wrong and misleading in my opinion.

The photo app is buggy, and often fails to load, just leaving black previews. This shouldnt be happening on a high end phone.

The stock ringtones are rubbish and no choice of a simple, normal ring sound.

Overall, the phone is great...but far from perfect. I may not have bought it having used one first.

Having said that, I certainly wouldnt buy a phone without a headphone jack or expandable storage, so eliminates some of the competition.

I suppose choice of phone is a personal prefference, just a shame we cant trial them first!
Xiaoda16 h, 13 m ago

Probably the best phone in the world right now, in my opinion.

I'd rather get almost 3 Home Mini's, just my two cents. £89 is the normal price, same price on Ebay, Argos, etc, so this isn't exactly a scortching deal.
For people that don't know, the Google home and Google home mini comes with 2 years warranty no matter where you buy it from.

Also honestly my home annoys me, the mini picks up my wake word every time and the home misses at least half...

Why has this been rated cold? It's as good as you're going to get, outside of the telegraph deal!

How big is your house to need three of these? We have a decent sized house …How big is your house to need three of these? We have a decent sized house that the Sky router struggled with but the new BT hub does fine.

When my brother use to live in the flat next floor down we shared wifi. Loads of people in these flats share with neighbours. I know 2 of my other neighbours share the cost in the next block over. My mum has a projector so we sometimes put the projector in the garden and streamed movies.
Will these work with sky q miltiroom?
I've had this for about 8 months as there seems to be a lot of RF interference in my area, the bedroom is also above an extension which is effectively a double wall resulting in wifi being very hit and miss.

It works really well. Does need a reboot every couple of months but other than that I wander around the house and outside and the signal is much better than the single router I had.

Compared the different systems when I bought mine and the BT just won on value/performance. They have upgraded the firmware a couple of times so still improving and my understanding is a mesh network is much more resilient to RF interference than just a bridge system. I tried bridges they never worked and kept dropping signal and gave up, the BT just works, not cheap but I wouldn't go back.

I have various that connect directly, or via Smartthings. An echo with an inbuilt hub that supports a handful of bulbs is a false utopia.

I disagree, my reply was accurate and true to how I interpreted the question (explained above). If you interpreted differently from I did, then so be it.
Google definitely behind so far. Amazon have gone really aggressive and the skills are a work of genius. Google not releasing the required APIs to developers even though developers are badgering them.

Google still trying to control, Amazon have effectively given the tools to devs and said go for it.

I use assistant on my phone for my yeelights and Spotify. It's a poor do when Google have not even made fully compatible jome/mini /assistant with chromecast, meaning working with Netflix/Plex. At the moment, all you can do with assistant and chromecast is to play a show but not via episode/season. You can ask it to pl/pause etc.

Now I use the chromecast video and audio alot so need mini/home.
