one of the ticketing companies olympic used went bankrupt during the summer, the flights were guaranteed with the airlines but from what i read a number of changes last minute were made so that may have been the case that the ticketers told olympic they had been sent when they hadnt

melcarroll

My niece went to Zante with Olympic in the Summer. She booked months in advance and still had not received tickets 3 days before take off. They kept lying and saying they had posted them to her. They also kept telling her that she was flying with different airlines. In the end she had to collect the tickets at the airport. It was very stressful for her ( first time holidaying on her own) and also her mum who was worrying that they would be abandoned at the airport with no where to go. When they arrived at the airport there were lots of other unhappy Olympic customers who had also been lied to. Luckily though their tickets were there for them but with a completely different airline to the one they had been told. Not the kind of situation you expect when you have booked months in advance.

Kirsty_Ann

Booked a holiday with Olympic last Tuesday and flew out on the Wednesday, getting back today. Like anything it is what you pay for it! Went to Kos for a week for £450 for 3 of us, self catering, but the place had its own pool. Had two boys 7 and 10 and it was all good for them. Spent the days out on trips etc so wasn't fussed about all inclusive as the food we bought out was reasonable and really nice where we ate!! Didn't have any trouble with Olympic myself, but as opposed to booking a general cheap deal, you do get access to a rep that can help with any questions, and organises your transfers and excursions if you wish!! (If you get a good one!!)

Ok so I used to work in Kavos and repped this hotel. It is pretty basic rates at about 2 star, however it is only a base for your holiday. The hotel staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful and the hotel is right on the beach. It's cheap and cheerful so you cannot expect it to be high quality.

What this guy said! :) The holiday is what you make of it. if you get out and about I'm sure you will find plenty to see and do.

if youre thinking of hiring a car, unless you are familiar with the island, Id seriously recommend getting a transfer or taxi to your accommodation and getting a car in resort to explore. Sat navs dont usually work on the greek islands so after flying in the last thing you then want to be doing to driving possibly over the mountain roads to a resort and having to read a map / directions to find where you are going.

I know I keep repeating myself now but I never posted this as it was/is not a deal. I found out about Ryanair flights being £24 return through another deal (coincidently your deal also uses Ryanair, but part of a package). Then once I had my flights I looked for an apartment through the usual websites, as I personally prefer my own space rather than staying in a hotel. You can regularly find apartments for 1 week in a number of areas of Europe for between £100-£140 if you spend a bit of time looking through those websites. Obviously a package holiday that includes flights and hotel, that can be booked by many people is a deal, whilst one apartment can not take many bookings. But there are many of these apartments out there if you're prepared to look. I would advise anyone who wants to spend a bit of time looking, and wants to save themselves a bit of money, to check those websites for apartments; homeaway, tripadvisor, etc. For me personally the £60+ difference between a package and a tailor made holiday is a big difference, although maybe it isn't for many people on here. If anyone wants the details of the particular apartment that I have chosen to use in Corfu, please PM me and I will be happy to provide the details. For people who want the simplicity of a package holiday, I'm sure this must be a good deal as it has received a lot of heat.

What do you want? As long as you can get a beer, some food, have a bed and roof, can swim or fish in sea, maybe even rent a vehicle, and the weather is better than here then what does it matter? Let me put this in perspective, most people can easily spend this sort of money on a night out which results in being pushed about, a fight, vomit and seedy people and clubs and fast food shops. Here you are flying thousands of miles in a multi million pound aircraft in reasonable comfort and landing in a wonderful part of the world, and staying in comfort for 14 nights for £130! Are you kiddding me?

But this deal is for late Aug/ early September? Nowhere near the end of September and full season?

mrwhitelabel

Well I dont know your experience of the area, but I can only comment on mine as a rep living in Corfu a year ago, where the south of the island grinds slowly starts to a halt in to september, although some accommodation stay open later. It is the north of the island which is open till end of season (last day of oct) and the south has shut up shop by end of sept usually.

Went to Kavos a few years back with the lads. Great place if you just want to party, but that's it. Not really for couples either. Def not for families.

Kavos is a dive. Went to Aquis Sandy Beach Resort in Ag Georgios (South) a couple of years ago and drove down to Kavos for the day. It was dead and dirty during the day.

screw that, I'm going to San-Antonio for a week All Inclusive for £200 (ok so it's October but I don't have any more leave to use till then :)

Stayed at this hotel year before last begininning of sept. Bear in mind you'll prob get a bit of rain at this time of year it rained for 3 days whilst we were there for a week. The hotel is ok, fairly basic, pool is lovely, reception/bar staff fairly friendly. The hotel is off the strip itself though and is about a 10-15min walk into town and it is dark there are no street lights. Kavos also (sorry) street really smells of waste. If you do go, make sure you go on the BBQ beach boat trip they sell tickets down on the beach, SOOO worth it best BBQ i've had in my life and great day out provided the weather is nice.

mikecool

think we stayed at that hotel couple years ago, was nice enough and much better than some of the others on offer in kavos.

Aslong as theres a bed and a shop to buy water and food then it doesnt really matter IMO, certainly not when your paying less than it costs for a Manchester to London train ticket to go to a wonderful part of the world, try not to be small minded Brits. We have ruined many destinations with our need for clubs, pubs, drugs, pros and general disrespectful behaviour. Just because somewhere doesnt have air con and there are stray cats doesnt mean its a bad place. Meh, take a look at an British city and tell me whats so great?

Checked tripadvisor for Michaelangelo Village and just too many negs to risk it (last year I ignored the tripadvisor stuff on a hotel in Gambia. I showed the neg print outs to my travel agent Thomas Cook who said it was really nice and to ignore it as the travel rep would come with us to our room and make sure we were happy before leaving. The room was awful and the rep disappeared. I had to upgrade to another hotel £400 cash ..they wouldn't/couldn't take credit card. So I have checked out Miros Studios and they get really good reviews for the last 4 years. Cheers:)
