...SSD's for me - backups or buy two and Mirror/RAID them
I was even trying to go one further and (if my experience is shows what I think it shows) to give a heads up to the idea your std disk checking soft may miss the beginnings of a complete failure. As it was afa Karma goes I saw the cyclic redundancy errors and backed everything up and regularly after that. I did lose some things but only a fraction of what I had. Back on a fresh install on mech and I have DL 54G in a few days and I'm no longer bothered about wear leveling and such. SSD's are great as a boot but in a laptop with one drive - not so good if you are a heavy user. IMO.
I have the 250GB Model of this drive in my Server. I'm having an issue where my server software keeps flagging pending sectors up. They dissapear after a while and are no longer pending but it's happened a few times. I never had this issue with my Samsung. I'm going to try send it back but the SMART data is completely fine so they likely wont take a replacement.
Why Karma? This person only gave their experience with SSD.
