I bet you would catch no end of diseases and 100% guaranteed food poisoning. Now if there were flights from London I might be interested.

I know your comment was about wanting the deal to be from london, but people should know before visiting that India is dirty and filthy, take care what you eat.
Goa however is safe in general.

Not wealthy russians, but poorer and completely classless. The don't know how to behave in other countries. Not that poor brits do, but in general the average chav can't afford to travel beyond europe.

Have backpacked in goa, I think russians are more respectful to locals than british chavs, even though most of them are from working class in russia(goa is a cheap destination that most russians can afford).

I haven't been to goa for around 15 years now but even then the natural beauty of the place was being spoilt. It's far cleaner than the rest of the country but then again that's not saying much.

Has anyone got a foolproof guide to applying for the E-Visa?.
Is it best to just use a website that charges for the service of doing it for you and sorting out any mistakes you might make?.
I don't want to end up getting knocked back by the official government website and then have to pay again.

(I also cannot find any up to date mention online of Sikh or Hindhu temples that offer help with Visa applications in Manchester or Sheffield, but there is this list from 2007 that might be helpful to some tripadvisor.co.uk/Sho…tml)

It's abit daft that you need a photo of yourself that is equal size in width and length. Standard UK passport photo's are not like that. And how do I scan a photo in so that it is a large size and not a tiny photo on a massive white background?

Accommodation can be as cheap as chips out there, especially if you were willing to stay in the South in one of the beach hut type accommodations they have... best place i have ever been, it is beautiful!

Here’s the current NHS advice map:

fitfortravel.nhs.uk/des…spx

Goa appears to be low risk, but those areas state additional advice. So read up as some of them may be higher risk at certain parts of the year.

Also check your travel insurance if you’re going to an area where anti malarials are advised by the NHS. If you aren’t taking any you want to be sure your travel insurance will still cover you.

Anti malarial tablets aren't a requirement for going to Goa, they're …Anti malarial tablets aren't a requirement for going to Goa, they're optional. We won't be taking them, the risk of side affects far outweigh any chance of getting malaria. Obviously we'll be doing our best not to get bitten in the first place but no doubt will but the chances of getting malaria are virtually nil.

Been a few years since I last went, but at the time they were recommended for Goa. Perhaps that’s changed now.

I understand your point about side effects. Some of My wife’s colleagues (Dr’s) also don’t take them. I’ve been unfortunate enough to contract malaria as a child, so as you can imagine I’m torn between using anti malarials or not

Is Goa safe for women or is it the same as everywhere else in India?

Goa is very westernized and safe, best place you will visit. Lots of beach parties etc
Goa packages are expensive in general. This deal is definitely cheaper and calangute and bagha are most happening places mostly filled with Indian crowds. I stayed in sea coin hotel in less crowded part of goa with beach next to the hotel, very decent and economical. The food at the hotel restaurant was great and had hired taxi/bike to travel to places. Goa is one of the best tourist locations in India considered safe as the main income is tourism. Saw some of the negative comments above and in any famous tourist location you can get into trouble if you are not careful and the incidents that occurred has such similarities of taking drug late night with strangers in unfamiliar places etc. We have also seen such cases in other famous places e.g. Thailand, still many go there and come back without any issues. Be wary of the known trouble spots and you will be safe and take it easy lifestyle is the southern part with great food and nice locals is something you will enjoy.

Avoid India at any cost. Famous for exploiting foreign tourists …Avoid India at any cost. Famous for exploiting foreign tourists financially. Everything expensive than UK. Foreigners should pay lot more than locals for attractions. Unsafe driving. Very bad roads. No ambulance service. Lots of mosquitos. Corrupted police and bureaucracy. No proper health care. Staring locals. Travel at your risk.

Sounds like blighty!
Kerala is less touristy and less crowded that Goa.

Highly recommend this place..

Seriously cheap price. There are hardly any direct flights and on these dates usually cost over a grand!

Mozart321

Madeira isn't really Portugal, is over 1000km across the sea

I agree Mozart - although we all know it's part of the Portuguese territory, Thomson should make it clear they are referring to Madeira... I call it out as clickbait: they know full well thawe would think they mean Portugal rather than Madeira! I spent ages trying to find ANYTHING on mainland Portugal before realising they'd advertised hotels and flights ONLY for Maderia.

Thanks to the OP for posting tho'. I'm now looking at Cuba deals instead, so the heads-up for a white-sand Caribbean holiday instead of Portugal is much appreciated :^).

Best wishes

Hey this deal is about a holiday in Kerala. Trust me you don't see anything you mentioned in Kerala. Let's not stereotype !
you can get alcohol, at tourist friendly hotels and they have these grim (but hilarious) alcohol shops which consists of a huge pile-on of people trying to get to a hole in a fence type shop to buy their grog. Definitely an experience Also, at some places like Varkala (touristy beach area), you can get booze everywhere but it will be served in tea cups and mugs And your bottle of beer will be camouflaged with napkins and kept out of site.

I'll admit I was concerned about the potential lack of booze it being a 2 week holiday, however, you can find a few beers here and there and the wonderful scenery and food (and people!) more than made up for it... We just had a couple of nights getting tipsy where we could, and the rest just enjoyed tea.

I should have been more precise in my criticism. Most developing nations … I should have been more precise in my criticism. Most developing nations have visa-on-arrival systems...even Iran has visa-on-arrival for many countries. I don't begrudge India for trying to raise money - I have no issues with that...but why make the process so pointlessly difficult? As an example, one can travel right the way down Africa's east coast without ever having to apply for a visa prior to arrival at a land border. You just pay your visa fee, and you're in. India on the other hand requires that you buy a visa in your country of origin (which is not helpful if you are already travelling in the area and then decide you fancy visiting India).

India has a serious problem of terrorism. A lot of people from its hostile neighbors have obtained foreign nationalities. Thus they have these procedures to do background check before they allow people into their borders. It's not aimed against tourists but it's aimed against troublemakers

Excellent price. Seen the previous deal of flights for £248, for an extra £15 can get 14 nights accommodation.
holiday is priced up for 7 nights but is being advertised for 14 nights
Red Hot deal. I loved India but I will not be returning. I will not pay the exorbitant visa fees.
I'm guessing that the 14 day availability is gone ? Just done a search and except for the Taj Exotica (VERY nice hotel at £1820 all the other quotes are showing just 7 days.
Now all I need is a cheap option of getting from St Albans to Manchester......... Gatwick prices are WAY more expensive
Think you can go to the High Commission in Birmingham and get your visa back the same day. Did involve a lot of waiting round when I went but at least it was sorted in a day
