In Malta at the moment, and like it.., though would not want the 40+C in summer.. not had any rain daytime over the past week. Bus timetable is for decoration only for some routes. in general they are pretty frequent, especially around the main town.. and a bus pass makes transport v cheap too

I've driven in Malta no problems great compared to driving on the A12!

Was in Sliema a few weeks back, loved it The hop on/off bus is a joke, dont do it just use the local transport the buses are very modern ie the X2 to the airport from Sliema

buses outside of london are no better

Got any jobs going? :D Was over in Gozo late October, loved it.

:D maybe, you don't know what it is yet.... I'm a network engineer. If I go there for work, it means spending 8hrs in an air conditioned server room !! But yes, I have been there a whopping 37 times so it's like my second home now.

I wish I had your job

Will be about 15 degrees C for anyone wondering. I work in Valletta so happy to answer any questions. I'd jump at this since I don't have to be there for another 3 months. Except I don't really fancy flying back on boxing day. But heat added tho. Love Malta :D

The buses are a bit of a joke.

I have stayed at this hotel. Cheap but not too cheerful. Changed room several times as no single one had all amenities working. Food was OK for a short stay.

My sister has a scuba diving business in Gozo, call in and say hi

Whilst obviously not as warm as the Canaries, Malta itself is so much more interesting, with fantastic history and sights. However, although I don't know this hotel and it's specific hotel, my brief time in Bugibba waiting for a bus connection made me glad I wasn't staying there - seemed the most "Costa Del" type of place on the island.

The way out !! (_;)

you are a star! anything from Belfast or Dublin in August that looks good?

To be honest for any of you that are looking for specific dates you are going to be limited as there are only going to be a number of flights on your dates. If I was you looking for 21/22 July (extremely popular dates), I'd be looking now at exactly what flights they have from whichever airports you can fly from as you are going to be limited. I check almost daily for flight prices in August and it's just keeping an eye out for when flight prices drop. That's going to be your difficulty. I don't look for specific dates or requirements, but I do post any school holiday deals I think are good value.

Look for all inclusive hols in July either flying out 21 or 22nd July for 7nights.

Hi, I'm also looking for all inclusive deals from 14th August (7 or 14 days)... for 2 adults & 3 kids - 13, 9 & 3yrs old. Thanks.

I'd been looking for this case for the little ones Xmas PC - cheapest I've been able to find it, thought it may be of use to someone. Few in stock but it states more on the way.

My case needs an upgrade, this may be the one looks very nice :)

Thanks for both replys. I don't actually need it to do a great deal, I would need programs like Microsoft Word to edit invoices, chrome browser to manage content on my plex server and I would quote like to Tey editing videos. I was initially thinking 4k but upon reading it seems you need some decent hardware for that. So I may just record in 1080p so they're easier to edit. But that's about it really. Won't be gaming on it or anything like that. Don't have any equipment to test if parts are faulty so buying pre built might be easier.

In the market for a fish tank, this will do nicely. Thanks OP.

It's very easy to build a PC for a novice, but if a part is faulty then you might have quite a problem finding out which part is faulty, usually this is between PSU, RAM, Motherboard, GPU and CPU, if you have one of those parts faulty then you'd need another one to swap it with to test. So if all your parts are good then as long as you don't mash up the pins on the motherboard or CPU depending whether it's AMD (pins on CPU) or Intel (pins on motherboard) then you should be good to go. I first built a PC in 1996 and to be honest even though I work selling PC's I rarely build them now as it's very boring for me, some people love doing it and setting them up, I've done so many I couldn't care less. Summary: In theory and practice it's usually easy to build a PC, if you screw it up then you could end up a few hundred quid or more out of pocket, which is why pc-specialist, overclockers, novatech and other sites exist to build one for you at a cost. If anyone wants to build a PC these days I would say go for it, just remember fault diagnosis could be your downfall. Lastly NEVER buy PC parts just before Christmas, unless you've researched and know they're a decent price, you'll notice that DDR4 RAM has greatly risen in price now if you check, and always new tech comes out straight after Christmas, for example on January 5th 2017 KabyLake CPUs will be released and the new chipset motherboards, H270, Z270 etc. Also AMD Zen is due to be released but later in 2017, which may or may not give Intel something to think about. There's always hype with AMD releases and so far the hype has been 100% wrong for every AMD release for years. Zen could be different, the hype is that AMD will have an 8 core CPU for around £300 than can compete with Intel's £1000 hex core, hype is as hype does though, so we'll see.

It's very easy to build a PC, there are, quite literally hundreds of guides and forums online that you can utilise. I would definitely recommend reading a lot before getting started so not to make obvious mistakes. Also deciding exactly what you want the PC should be your first point of call as you can then tailor the build to suit.

I was in Malta in May of this year, it was remarkably cheap eating out ( 6 € for 15" pizza / 1 € a pint) and Jaws (the wife, she never shuts up) was impressed as to how clean and friendly every one was. That was true of all the island as we used the buses constantly all over the island and saw or heard nothing to disturb us and can say truthfully a pleasant stay.

What's wrong with Malta?
i saw a program a month or so ago and it was saying the streets/beach areas are full of immigrants maybe thats something to look into before you book.
Guess we would feel right at home then

Be careful with this company. Bought flights with them before. They contacted me later to tell me original flights not available and I was being charged more. Had a premium rate helpline too. I cancelled and will never use them again.

Actually it is more like the middle east can't get along with each other and having different religions and sub-religions. Funny how most other colonies have faired well enough

I'm a 30something Englishman living in Malta and feel I should clarify a few things: There isn't an immigrant problem. Yes there are immigrants (like most of Western Europe) and like all of us they're trying to improve their lives by working hard. Crime is very low Cockroaches are quite common (umm, it's hot and humid here!) I've seen about 3 beggars in as many years

I went to Malta back in July for the 1st time in 24 yrs and it was beautiful. We managed to get to see a few locations. The buses are fantastic especially as they had air conditioning in the 104f heat! One evening we missed the bus and the bus driver stopped for us on a hill!! On another occasion the bus driver who was finishing his shift, told us to jump on an took us to another bus stop, where there were more buses running in that area..... FOR FREE!!! The people are so helpful, polite and proud of their country. I DON'T sound Maltese as I'm London born n bred even though my family are and live in Malta. We asked for directions to get to Valletta and we asked a lady who suggested to get the ferry then the lift up to the Barrakka Gardens she said "it's beautiful way to get across the island!" We highly recommend the Captain Morgan Jet Extreme speed boat to the Blue Lagoon at Malta's sister island. What an AWESOME way to travel across the island. The speed boat is the naughty boy of the Captain Morgan fleet! Fantastic! X) There's so many different places to eat right across the island to cater all tastes. I has lots to offer for every type of traveller from the young to go and party the night away to travellers who want to just get away and have a relaxing peaceful holiday. Malta is an island with so much history. I've not been there for 24 years and from what has changed the areas that cater for the tourists but it still has the Maltese houses that makes the island for what it is, and island of history! Those that complain that it's boring as hell, it's beaches are not good then I suggest they do their research bon the island before booking their holiday! ;)

Says the geezer showing off his chav car.

Yeah it goes over your emotionally immature facile little head. Xenophobe because I don't agree with your mass immigation view. Lol, despite preaching about refugees, shows your true colours by telling someone you don't know to get a job.* And try googling and reading about history so you get the true facts rather than relying on what you watch on TV. * I work shifts.

Cheap flights to Malta £46 return from Birmingham @ Ryanair
Found 3rd Jan 2015Found 3rd Jan 2015
Just booked my Dad on a week to Malta and flights from Birmingham for a week (15-22 January 2016) return was under £46! Bargain

There is the other way you just walk upto the priority queue i have heard heated arguments and seen the occasional punch thrown as people get in the wrong queue especially seems to happen when returning from abroad. You then board the plane first with the knowledge your bag is above your head so easy to get to when disembarking and just stretch out and relax whilst others struggle to get their hand luggage anywhere near them. Being near the front another benefit when disembarking as i normally travel on short breaks with ryanair time is at a premium so i only take hand luggage no waiting on the dreaded carousel or find its gone missing. Normally i am through customs whilst others are still trying to retrieve their luggage. All this for between £10 or euros depending on what seat you choose. So normally paying no more than £30 return for the flight its horses for courses. In the bad old days i was coming back from berlin and the german ryanair agent must have been on a big bonus as he tested them in their gauge test and in the end had 20 pieces of hand luggage all lined up put in the hold whilst the poor passengers were very distressed and had to pay the extra costs and hassle to retrieve them. The main thing with ryanair is play by their rules check the size of your hand luggage and you wont get your fingers burnt. You may get away with it now and again but is it worth it. By the way ryanair have a flashsale of 20% off all routes ending at midnight check their terms and conditions.

They used proper branded coffee and drinks at reasonable prices. I get much better service on Ryanair than most premium airlines. Most people who batter them on here go on media hearsay and have probably never flown with them, never mind recently. It also makes me laugh the people who pay priority and add another 20% on the ticket price in some cases. We all get in the same plane, we all have allocated seat numbers, the plane will not leave without us. Best way is to just chill in the lounge or by the gate, join the boarding queue near the end, get on, seated and have less time in your seat. Good deal, thanks.

I have flown Ryanair- make sure you double check tea/coffee/snack charges

It is jetpacking you can do it in england but i am hoping the water will be a bit warmer in malta

Some sort of jetpack activity by the looks of it? Not tried it myself as I tend to favour the kayak, or a jetski if I am in a hurry. But go for it, there will be plenty of places to do that in Malta I'm sure. And it's something different to the usual banana or sofa rides you see everywhere!

Silver would be good for me as I have a couple of UK Domestic flights booked in the spring whereby I would be entitled to lounge access if I was Silver.. but I don't think I could justify it just for this. Also don't really have the time to go jetting off via Amsterdam, though AIUI it can prove a VERY cheap way of getting tier points and avois up, for little price !

Nice one, good to know ;) No need for office worries for me when we arrive haha..

I flew Club back from Berlin on the 0700 and the purser happily kept me topped up with a fresh champagne 1/4 bottle. Think I got through 3 of them! Made for a long day when I got to the office! Unhappybunny, check out ITA Matrix and find an ex-EU in Club to get yourself up to Silver. I'm about to book Club to BKK starting from AMS for £1200. Bargain!

Basically I have a flight booked in Feb for four of us in Business.. We want to sit together (2 and 2 on either side)... And being bronze I get to choose the seats 7 days before to ensure we get this selection rather than waiting the 24 hours before to get the crap.. So bronze will be certainly be worth it for me for this.

Yeah I know.. But never flown so early so don't want them to think I am a p*** head !! Lol It's really handy that we booked the Hilton at Gatwick for the night before, so we can check in the luggage the evening before then go straight to the lounge in the morning.

As others have said- beautiful country and lots of nice places to go. Would have to say though, have been February and it can definitely be damp and even stormy. The days can be bright and relatively warm, but the nights do get chilly. How is the revamp of the Valletta entrance looking? I haven't managed to get there since last summer. I do feel for them, they had a great upgrade of the transport system partnered with Aviva, only for Aviva to duck out (heard a few reasons, not enough money in it, dodgey road surfaces made maintenance costs sky high) which has left them with a shortfall of services. I'm sure they'll sort it soon enough.

Situation is exactly the same with the busses. Only they took off the double car (bendy) busses and now just use the smaller ones. So even out of season they are all rammed. No way of getting on them unless you are at the start of the route.

Until midnight tonight, you can book these flights with BA for just a pound more, and have inclusive drinks, a snack and hold luggage. Part of their LGW flash sale.

Went to Malta a couple of years ago. Great place with plenty to see. Only ruined by the public transport system. The bus network is great but they had recently changed the buses which meant there were not enough to deal with the amount of people waiting. At best you were crammed on the buses; but usually the bus would not stop and drive past you because it was full. Ruined it for us. I'd want to know that situation had been sorted out before returning.

It's better than here I can tell you that :) but then you live there so must aware of that. We are off next Tuesday to Mellieha. Never sure I would like Malta but went last year and we all really liked it.
