So do these keep heat in well at all? My living room is so cold, unheated stone flat, anything to keep warm in is good.
No good for me... taking my 2 pairs back too, they feel strange, the stitching isn't good, the packaging is cheap looking. Didn't look good at all, or hang well. Argos have inflated original prices too
Just put mine up. There nice and soft, kinda suede feeling material...

Cold! Everyday, at my local Tesco, items are marked at up to 90% off. I don't go around posting them on here as they are store specific. Posting such deals is wasting people's time.
Every day i get emails with sales and discounts yet they are on here... basically hukd takes a cut of everything due to people sticking it on their site, wonder how much they make :/

So only one person bought it in whole UK in this price hahahaha !
I bought something cheap once and it was the last one in the shop, looks like i should have posted it here ;)

Yes with the chance that someone might find the same bargain or be a miserable sod and keep it to yourself although because of moaners like you many people don't bother so lots of non moaners miss out on the chance of a bargain. Heat added for the post and for **** off the moaners and heat jealous freaks.

Lol! A yellow one off store specific and probably used and returned item hitting 705° the voting on this site is getting so stupid.
Or maybe I should have posted the 4 bread rolls I bought last Saturday night at 10.55 pm from Asda that only cost me 6p.

Would suction clips not be ok aswell who cant purchase this 2.49 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004OXNXW6/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AY1OOGNTFPTUE

Suction clips on this blind can be a pain and keep coming unstuck. I have to now thead the top in through the window itself to stop it dropping half off in the night. You might be better of getting some of those clips and using your own material as they may be stronger.

I had this issue with these black out blind a few years ago when I first bought them. I got in touch with the manufacturer who sent me out a new set free of charge and I had to send mine off to them so they could look at the suction cups. Their customer service was quite good.
Just a personal warning: I put this up for one mildly bright morning and the heat cracked the internal pane of a double glazed window. I'm renting so can't testify for the quality of the windows but haven't had any other problems them.
Good deal!

Thats wht i and doing :D went ti view the top blind and realisd i could do my own diy and save spce and use a dark colour towel as a shade :P
we purchased this a while (2yr!) and never used it until this summer. it's now a permanent fixture behind his roller blackout blind and I am generally very impressed. we also took it on holiday recently and it was a life saver due to no real curtains in the appartment.
needless to say we purchased another today as a spare

We've tried various blinds now varying from the IKEA ones that were here when we bought the place, to John Lewis out the box ones, to a couple of expensive made to measure ones. I've found that you pretty much get what you pay for, especially around the fittings/mechanisms.
The John Lewis ones were barely better than the IKEA ones with really cheap and nasty fittings and the blinds just kept falling off. We tried a mid range made to measure one called Bloc Blinds (also sold by John Lewis) which were pretty good, but in the end we settled for Luxaflex. These were nearly £200 a set but really are much better than everything else you can get. Just wished we jumped straight to these instead of wasting money on the other crap ones.
hi, could I ask which luxaflex blinds you have please? We were just about to order some blocblinds blackout cassette, and am also wondering how the luxaflex are better?
thanks

We got the standard Luxaflex roller blinds. They have sheer and blackout options. We found that the fabric quality is similar to bloc blinds, perhaps marginally better. But the roller/chain mechanism is much better quality and a lot smoother. The chain in the bloc blinds were a bit stiff even after adding a bit of grease. The bloc blind still looks great and we've kept the one we ordered, just not as good as Luxaflex. We changed all the others in the house to Luxaflex.

We went to John Lewis first to look at the Luxaflex samples (they have millions of them) then ordered them from Vale Blinds which charge about 40% less. You just type in the window dimensions and you get all the prices. Hope that helps.

thanks!!

I've had one of these for over a year and I paid £20. I put it on the little kids window in the summer. Brilliant and really well made. Good find.

Why? Does it act as an air-conditioning unit? Bargain.

No but it stops them getting up at stupid O'clock because it's light and they go to sleep straight away at 7-8 even though it's daylight until 10.

several of the reviews on Amazon are critical of the sucker caps. If they don't hold the blind on the window then it's obviously a waste of money, or if there is only a 50/50 chance it will stay up, imagine being on edge all night waiting for it to drop!

I am planning to use Velcro (available at Tesco for £3 and stick it on the edge of the window (only at the top and if needed on the sides). The gro anywhere has velcro on its edges to help with managing with the window size.

I presume that velcro option will be much more stable! Just one of the solutions (as I do not want to use sucker caps due to the venetian blinds that I have for the window).

Cracked the window!? Did you try and nail it back on?

They are not designed for everyday use and the repeated sticking on seems to have caused the crack, daft as it may sound!

I got these from Amazon a while back when working night shifts. A bit **** as the suckers never stayed on the window!
Was it cold by any chance? I discovered this in the winter when my phone holder kept falling from my windscreen!
I put a little bit of water/saliva on the suckers and it stays on no problem. Also make sure you use the side suckers as that help supports the blinds. are so good quality and are very heavy. My blinds stay on until I'm ready to remove them when I do this.
Sure, but what I was asking is of the windows were very cold. My phone holder usually never budges but for some scientific reason which I don't know, when it was a very cold day it kept falling down! So prob the same with all pads!
Hmm not sure as by the winter months the blinds are down as it's dark enough. I only use these blinds in the spring/summer. Maybe this will help the parents who use these in the winter months too and experience the blinds falling for no reason.
I stuck down all the suckers. Found that the top corner ones would come off and the rest would peel off due to the weight of the blinds.

Very narrow....about 2 feet wide. Can't think of any room that I would want to black out that's got such a small window. Why would you blackout a bathroom....do you sleep in there?
I have the blind in my bathroom because it is a thick thermal blind which helps keep the bathroom warm in the winter. It's not about 'blacking out' the bathroom, as it's only pulled down in the evening (when its dark anyway) and when someone is bathing (when privacy is sought).
You need to think outside the box a bit.
As for not being able to think of a room with a small window, that's just you!
This deal was posted for everyone to view and believe it or not some of them will have small windows.
Not every deal is tailor made to suit everybody... but that doesn't make it a bad deal.
Totally redeemed yourself! :)
This will go great in my storage room window Thank you

Really good microphone for youtube use.

I don't see a screen on it...
Added heat - would have done so if it was fish for Darkie's description
I can't emphasise enough the difference a good mic will make. Even if you're just playing games with friends on something like Teamspeak, Skype or Mumble regularly, since getting the Blue Yeti I've had a few occasions where people have commented how clear the audio is. The downside to this is it can pick up a mouse fart in the other room.

Beware that if you use the stand that comes with this, and you sit it on a desk with your keyboard it will pick up every single key press like a deep bass beat at a rap concert, either place it on a different surface or mount it on a boom arm.

If anyone is interested in a desk mount arm for this, I've been using this one since early 2015 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HWR742Q it clamps to the desk very securely, I've not had to alter it since installing it.

The one thing I would advise (as some of the reviews on the product mention), it's worth getting a metal screw size adapter to fit the mic rather than the plastic one that's supplied, as the Blue Yeti is quite heavy. They sell them on Amazon for about £5, but you can pick them up on Ebay for around £2 including postage, I got mine here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mic-Stand-3-8-to-5-8-Thread-Adapter-Microphone-Holder-Nut-Steel-Adaptor-/320778762586?

Lastly, this mic is designed to be spoken into from the side, not head on like a stage mic, see this graphic for an idea http://cd.bluemic.com.s3.amazonaws.com/images/yeti/Yeti_DoDont.png .

Hope this helps. Heat added.
That's a great price popit - just make sure it isn't covered in slobber. :)

Anyone know if these actually work? We;ve had to buy the ones that stick on the window as well as the ones we got didn't exactly black the room out

You will never achieve total black out with curtains unless you can find a way to attach the curtain rail totally flush with the wall you are hanging them from even then you would need to ensure they were flush with the wall at the bottom of the curtain and at the sides.

That being said i use black out curtains and they let light in but they really cut down the glare in the room which is what will wake you up

Gro Anywhere? I thought it was for cannabiss or something!
Exactly what I thought. Black out blind for privacy.
I would've liked to have ordered this but the £4.75 carriage has put me off.
Simpler solution, stick your head under the quilt.. If you can see light, you're just close to death and theres nothing a blackout blind can do I'm afraid. :D
Quick and easy to use, take it with you wherever you go, had one for over a year and no problems.
Had this before and found it problematic, now have magic blackout and find it much easier to use and less light bleeds round the side

Using a dark matter bomb, destroy the sun. SOLVED
Be honest. Could you get the same effect with a thick piece of black material and some drawpins?
Top tip: splash a view drops of water onto a window, then add tin foil. The water tension acts as an adesive and tin foil blacks out all light. It makes a mess of the window (needs to be cleaned because of water marks) but works perfectly. Plus you can go right to the edges, making it truly black out.

you can buy this fabric on the roll for cheap and safety pin it onto the back of your curtains. They stay up forever.
I didn't really understand that?
You can buy these in fabric shops, by the metre. This is just a piece of thick fabric that stops the light coming in.
You just measure the width and legth of your curtains (flat). You can use safety pins to hold it up, against the back of your normal curtains. When you close the curtains the black out blind closes with it, and when you open your curtains, the black out blind pushes open too. Easy. They stay up forever. Hope you understand that?

Yeah, but I have to get my fat a$$ off the sofa to get up and close the curtains.

These are remote controlled. So my fat a$$ could stay put as I plunged myself into darkness. Perfect.

I actually looked at remote controlled curtain track when I renovated a few years back. Everything else (including power sockets and lights) is controlled from a single Logitech Harmony remote in my living room. Getting the curtains remote controlled as well would have been the icing on the cake. But when I looked into, all the solutions were expensive, fiddly, and unreliable by all accounts. So I didn't bother.

£33 for one of these was pretty good. All the curtain track I saw (albeit a few years ago) was all into the hundreds ....

Have to vote cold I'm afraid. Bought some John Lewis blinds before and they are cheap for a reason. The fabrics themselves are half decent but the fittings are really poor quality, marginally better than Ikea.
We've since had to switch to made to measure ones from Bloc Blinds and Luxaflex (both sold by John Lewis). Luxaflex are by far the best you can get and are not too badly priced at all if you order online instead of JL.

are you talking about these motorised blind specifically, or are you just talking about a completely different set of blinds?

not bad
As someone who spend over £60 on these things over the weekend (WOW it builds up quick), I can confirm the deals are live in stores and worth checking out.

If buying online though, make sure you only get ones from Game themselves, not a third-party, because those won't count as part of the offer. The price'll be the easiest way to tell - Trap Masters are £14.99, standard figures £9.99 and traps £5.99.

Sorry for being thick, but I still don't understand sizing: for an 86cm window, allowing 1.5-2 times the width for the folds, should I thus buy a size between circa 130 and 170 cm?

Bought one of these recently and it seems pretty good quality - the plastic fittings have perhaps a slightly brittle feel about them but despite that nothing broke on installation
Does anyone know if these are any better than the Argos black out blind. My Argos blind rolls down then won't roll back up again!

I searched for this before posting my deal but it didn't come up so it was marked as spam.
The search system automatically searches under 'deals'. You needed to change it to 'freebies' :)
Did that but didn't find it. I always manually change the forum type according to what I am looking for.
Well I just did a quick search, this freebie was the top of the search result.http://www.hotukdeals.com/search?action=search&keywords=modern+combat+5&closed=0&closed=1&online_only=false&text_only=false&type=3&category=0&sort_type=relevance&date_range=

I can see it in the results now too obviously. I think it might be taking time for deals to show up in results. Cos when I searched earlier in Freebies section, it did not show up. It did show me a 1 month old deal that was 79p though and it even asked me to check if it was a duplicate and I clicked "no it's different".

Nice idea but awful product just read reviews.

You are right it is awful, after sticking this to the window to test and shutting the door in the room i sat down and guess what..... i nearly fell asleep it was just like night time! :p

Do you have this product? The reviews give it just under 8 out of 10 so i don't see how its awful. I see some reviews suggest the suction is not that good, however most of the time its because a suction pad has been bent in the packaging and fails when stuck to the window. Swap it / take it back / check the pads in the shop before you buy.

Maybe the suction pads won't last forever however I would happily pay £15 every year if it means my son sleeps till 7-8am all the time rather than 5am. For me it works fine and i recommend it.

I had 3 in a month and they each had a fault of some kind.

maybe you got a duff batch... We've had one for over 3 years and a second one a little over a year - neither have failed yet.

You can also squirt the window with a fine mist of water and then stick tin foil to the window. Works brilliantly, esp when visiting others over Christmas as most houses have tin foil, light weight and smaller to lack too. I had these blinds but found they didn't stick very well.
