Great deal but I found it £200 cheaper... and it's now a stonking good deal. Shame it's not in school half term (for me).

Darklord

Safe, on our last holiday (couple weeks ago) to Sahl Hasheesh there were security points dotted around and multiple car check points that you needed to pass. Bit manic coming back to the UK though, security as Hurghada airport is a bit crazy. You will be checked 4-5 times going through to boarding.

sarell

£731pp is the cheapest I can see now. well done if you booked at that price

porsche911turbo

It's only Sharm El Sheikh airport that they consider dangerous, once outside the airport grounds it's supposed to be OK. Personally I've been to Egypt many times but I would definitely avoid it nowadays, even with all the military roadside barricade checks it just takes one nut case to get through them.

rachelandgromit

You got in there first, just said same thing. Our reason for going to Uganda instead for trekking. We will end our trip in Rwanda but not gorilla trekking there.

rachelandgromit

Yes you will need yellow fever certificate and anti malaria tablets. We had the yellow fever for Kenya anyway. Malarone is the recommended tablets for malaria. Edit: I don't think you need it specifically for Tanzania but we certainly do for our itinerary... The permits for gorilla trekking are cheaper in Uganda than Rwanda. We actually wanted to go to DRC for the Volcano trek but as the FCO advise against travel you can't get travel insurance currently. Hoping to add that in at another point though.....

peakbear

Just checked and the Gorilla trekking is actually more expensive in Rwanda rather than Uganda, my mistake.

peakbear

Qatar airlines have pretty cheap flights too. Just checked Cardiff-Kilimanjaro 4th Sep - 16th Oct and that is £435. They also have reasonalble prices to Dar es Salaam and Johannesberg which you can mix and match to fly in and out of. I was looking at going overland between Johannesburg and Kilimanjaro for those kinds of dates and prices. rachelandgromit do you know if you need a yellow fever certificate for your trip? Looking at the info it looks like you might need one if you go from Uganda to Tanzania, but not as you are going from Tanzania to Uganda. If you plan to go gorilla checking I assume the price of the flight is pretty small compared to that but I believe it is much cheaper in Rwanda compared to Uganda. (Though I did meet someone recently go got it very cheap after just driving over the border into the Congo without going proper border checks and then arranging it with the military after not surprisingly being pulled over and detained. Not something I would recommend though ;-) )

This trip doesn't go anywhere near Cairo so no visits to the pyramids at Giza. When I went there was unrest in Cairo, so it may be different now I guess? There were trips out to different points of historical significance every day. If I remember correctly there was 2 different excursion packages, one was multiple trips every day whilst the other was only one trip a day to the main attraction. I'm sure we went for the light package and paid about £150 each. Which wasn't bad for a whole weeks worth of excursions really. There was lots in Luxor, but also Aswan and other places too. I enjoyed the trip. We were the youngest people on the boat by a long shot, aged about 25 at the time. But if you're into Egypt history it is good. The actual cruise itself was enjoyable to, I liked sitting on the deck watching the world go by. Heads up when you are docked, you will be sandwiched between other Nile cruisers, so won't get any views from your cabin. I'd go again if there weren't other parts of the world to see first :)

Lounging by the pool on our last day at the iberostar club palmeraie marrakech. Picked the hotel (not the one in the deal admittedly) as there were no reports of bad guts. Other than the rip off official money exchange booths at the airport where they sell you a prepaid debit card despite refusal and charge you £30 for £100 credit on it it's been a great holiday. Be warned and use an airport ATM or change UK pounds at hotel reception for best rates. Avoid snake charmers who throw snakes over you and demand money, once one gets paid you'll have another 3 snakes thrown at you and 3 more people demanding money whilst trying to remove the 1st. Remember nobody helps free of charge, they are providing a service so they can demand payment. Overall it's been one of the best holidays we've had, don't be put off by the scammers just say no and move away.

Went to this resort as a couple in September/October, had no real complaints about the hotel or staff to be honest. Slightly out from Marrakech but you can get a shuttle from the hotel in (there are 2 free ones a day, but from memory it wasn't much to pay to go on the non-free ones)

jaydrs

No thanks then, sounds shite pal. More like last choice than first choice.

Very true. And it's awful for the vast majority of people who rely on tourists in the likes of Algeria Tunisia and Morrocco as Egypt found out. And Egypt gets far more tourists. And Egypt has been desperately trying to stop terrorist attacks on tourists for DECADES. Long before 9/11 or even the first Desert Storm But thats NOT what is being discussed. Its the pomposity of the two I answered sniffing about proof (and giving none themselves as is always the case) about why not. Its quite understandable why not. Instead of sneering at the posters opinion that he wouldn't go, I'd say get YOURSELVES across there for your holiday instead of judging someone who says they have no intention of They'll say they have of course knowing full well it can't be checked. (skeptical) All it takes is a handful of fanatics to destroy a country's financial footing as is happening to Tunisia - Libya for example is a treasure trove of Ancient Roman sites they SHOULD be earning a fortune - but the Guardianistas scream at people going elsewhere While doing exactly the same themselves......

You should be vigilant at this time." And then what about the hurricanes? (y)

Sorry its not just peppermint crisp. It's all products with eggs and milk. So no more biscuits apart from Romany Creams & eet sum mor, and no chocs at all. No mayonnaise either. I bought gems last year from Riverford farms. This year i bought from Abel and Cole.

Only signs I saw in the last shop was about peppermint crisps never knew about anything else. But you learn to live without it. Did find a shop that was selling gem squash that they were growing locally.

Morocco is, although geographically close to Tunisia, is quite different in terms of both the form and strength of government, with many concessions/efforts made by what maybe was a dictatorship to ensure that the populous are not discontent, while definitely ramping up security even further than prior to the arab spring.

Quad biking, camel riding, dune buggy riding etc. Are there any places just outside the resort to book these kind of experiences? TIA.

KewlGuy

Erm not a bad hotel. Rooms were nice. Food was ok, nothing special. Entertainment was mediocre, mainly for children. We went at a bad time in January as it was the school holidays for morrocco and lots of kids there. Only one pool was warm enough to get in. Other pool was being repaired however must have been fixed by now.

Kimbrehhh

Cool, thanks! Is there anything else we should know about the hotel? It looks really nice but read conflicting reports!

Sorry only just read your message. There are shops down the road from hotel however not the best. Go to main town and there is one supermarket where they drop you right outside of. The rooms in hotel were amazing

I did say arguably don't forget?. As for this bit "Tastes like crap ... " I disagree!. Look at the 1001 German/Australian beers AND lagar's out there (which despite the multitude of 'choices' too, etc, are also arguably good AND bad too right?). And that's so even when there's BARE 'choice' around to your heart's content (from literally around the World at that?!). So how much moreso then, when 1 product (of a handful few) are pitched up against that unfair deluge of choice then?. It's say like ALMOST comparing unseasoned English chicken, to that of perhaps either African seasoned chicken, OR West Indian seasoned chicken, and despite there being LITERALLY a one-to-one 'comparison' between the three, you rather expect alllllllll three, to actually taste the same regardless?. How ... The seasoned 'alternatives' will arguably alwayyyys have a clear advantage of their non seasoned counterparts, I'd have thought?. (And that's when there's ONLY a one-to-one 'comparison' between the three, - so how much moreso then, when there's blatantly not, etc?). You're obviously trying to compare it up against your World's worth of seasoned pallet over x-Decades worth of time already, and such like? (which is unfair I believe?, but it's fine I guess ... ) But saying all that, that however, doesn't make the STAR product in my Deal rubbish or bad though?. (If we're honest with ourselves?, lol). It's just 'different', that's allllll ... :-D
