Yeah, that's my only concern with LG.

Nice audio hardware. Shame about the mediocre software updates

I think it's about halfway between the G7 and G8. Design and processor closer to the G7, camera and screen closer to G8.

Is this closest match for the G7 or G8 in spec and release timeframe? I thought the G series were the flagships before but seems to be V series now.

Fond of the LG handsets, will look up the proper specs on GSM arena.

I bought my POCOphone from them few months back while on code, they are responsive and can recommend them. No issues so far.

@heathergreen1 this will be £405 using code PLUGIN15 from Friday at 9am.

My last 2 have been LG G4 and G6, apart from bootloop issue eventually killing my G4, I absolutely love them. They always seem to have last year's SoC on their newest phones though. Just cracked my lens on the G6 yesterday ;(

Would this be a better choice than the Xiaomi Mix 2S ?

They get decent reviews on Trustpilot and several people on here have been happy with their experiences I believe. That said, I haven't ordered anything from them myself yet so I can't vouch for them personally. Just make sure you pay with something that'll make it easier to get your money back if anything goes wrong. https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/wowcamera.co.uk

Sorry I was referring to the retailer of this phone! Has anyone brought from them?

Yes, I prefer them over the other brands , so much that I've started to get into photography Clearly I'm no expert, but it's always taken great photos even in low light where most fail This was in low light.

Bargain price, highly-underrated phone, probably because LG have been known for the bootloop issue and people never let them live it down, also a weak SoC for a flagship at the time. At £100 can let them off. Has it just gone up to £149.99 for a good handset on EE?

How easy are they to unlock?

Great little allrounder phone.

Be good to know how it compares for music.

Just bought as a replacement for my Axon 7 :)

I am not sure why they dont push the DAC a bit more, it gets review up there with dedicated music players costing hundreds more. This is or a successor is definately on my list when my Axon 7 gives up.

No removable battery :0(

Dang and blast... I always get confused! In my defence it's the same wallpaper on the phone used to.promote the G6. Really do need to learn to read! (embarrassed)

this is the q6 which tbh is not a very good phone and was underpowered even when it was first launched, however seeing as the speakers are worth £100ish for £70 its a decent phone.

This is a speaker deal with a free phone isn't it? :D

My grey import G6 still going strong 2years in and I'm still very happy with it... Screen is lovely, and the phone itself feels premium in the hand. The main cameras are versatile (love the wide angle) and the recent update has given AI cam functionality that seems to make Auto mode a bit more reliable one terms of getting some decent shots. NovaLauncher and an icon pack or two are a must though! Heat.

Are you heating the phone or the speakers? (lol) :)

Slow SoC, case scratches when you look at it slightly funny and doesn't even have a fingerprint sensor. It's a nice looking phone but it's leeching off the name of the G6 which is vastly superior. LG G5 32GB Very Good condition UNLOCKED £96.39 @ musicmagpie eBay
Found 19th AprFound 19th Apr
Good price for LG G5 32GB unlocked and with 12 months warranty from music magpie.

I purchased one of these batteries, for £6.99... Had it since October last year, and works great. Definitely holds it charge and lasts longer than the original LG G5 battery I got with the phone. Says it's genuine, but I'll leave you to decide that, but can confirm it works very well for me and the same seller is continuing to sell this battery, and not a seller who had made a quick buck and done a runner from the eBay platform. rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F152984364375

Hmmm be careful. Reason i went for lg was to know all the accelerators etc in it. I cycle a lot and wanted gps. Was looking at budget 50 60 pound phones that mrswitch always posts. But they were always coy about if they had gps and accelerometers and gyroscopes. So great for phone use but not necessarily for cycling sat nav. Maybe post as a discussion and see? I mean you can get an old phone like a samsung s4 for sat nav but you wont get the quick charge.

Way out of my budget. Was looking at like 25 quid or less lol.

Ahhh yes, thank you. The reviews do look like they're for a different seller! 1 for Replacebase is full stars :)

This! Lg g5 has quick charge 3.0. You can get portable battery packs with quick charge for 15 quid with about 10000mah or can get more spare batteries!

Do it, Nuff said :D

Well, technically the G6 has better hardware, and the wide angle camera is very useful, but main camera would be a downgrade from the S7 edge. I love my G6, but I'd go for a better upgrade.

Really tempted on this to replace my current phone (razer phone v1) always wanted a note but couldn't get one at the time of my upgrade with the whole exploding in your pocket problems haha. Is this sim free to put my three sim in? Someone either justify this purchase or tell me to stop spending money xD gf has a note 9 and she loves it.... And I could sell this phone I suppose :/

Yes there are plenty of great upgrade options, because smartphone tech really took off in 2017 (only S7/Edge & Pixel/XL 1st gen real 2016 standouts so good still going strong in 2019) But best value for money = new battery if you own one of those four models

Tempted to just repair the battery on my s7 edge like you suggest. It is still a perfectly great phone and it means I can wait a while for phones to progress a bit more. I don't think there's much of an upgrade out there yet

And the resulting on the wide angle has been increased too

Yep, it's fantastic.

May buy as I've dropped my G5 and all the replacement screens for a decent price will be subpar clones. The superwide on the G5 was really useful on holidays it was wider than than my Sony A6000 with a 10mm lens on. Does the G6 still have ultrawide?

The bootloop was g4 specific. The other LG phones have other different shenanigans!.

Yes it was, I have G5 and so does my son and never had this problem, and I don't think there are any issues with the G6, the boot issue was due to the processor getting too hot and not being soldered properly with bad quality control, this appears to have been fixed.

I agree with your comments, I had an lg G2 which served me well, and then an LG g5 which I still have with no problems, but my wife got a moto G6 plus a few months back which leaves my phone in its tracks and although it doesn't have image stabilization, it still takes great photos, I was an LG fan, but they have lagged behind other phone companies in innovation and being competitive.

Yep, LG has to come from behind now. Basically smartphones got so good in last 2 years that design/performance flaws no longer tolerated, like you say no more compromises, even in mid-range great all rounders now

I don’t doubt I’d be happy with it if I had one but if I was buying now this would need to be £120-130 to tempt me in the slightest. Releasing an SD821 (OC’ed 820) powered phone as a flagship in 2017 was madness. LG have a track record for disappointing phones so they should only compete on price IMO. We are so spoiled for choice with phones now, you rarely need to compromise any more

Some people in here still have G6 and are happy with it, others bitterly complain of its shortcomings. I personally gave up on LG after getting to know V20 and comparing it to S7 or Pixel, also from 2016 but so much better, still going strong, thanks to software support - LG's Achilles's heel But maybe at LG they got their act together last year with G7 and upped their game, a bit like Sony, audiophiles especially praise G7.

The 835 was such a generational jump in performance (going to quad-core Kryo) that even if you had to spend a little more to move up to one it makes more sense to do that rather than settle for the 820, and if you’re settling on an 820 the other flagships make more sense. The G6 is just too niche and weird to make a compelling buy at this price. The G6 was alsoa year too late to be a flagship in 2017 that’s why it was a huge flop.

That's fair... But they all have thier own issues that aren't usually resolved and software updates aren't much forthcoming. It's just the state of that end of the market unfortunately. I doubt LG will continue making phones in the future, they've lost a lot of money over the last two years from thier mobile division.

Well I have owned my G5 for 13 months, all of that happened to me. And if they couldn't get the premium flagship version right then I would have doubts about the budget version. Not to mention there are much better deals on better phones, the Nokias, Sonys, and Huawei P-smart that have been posted recently are all far superior.

None of that happened to me, and others in the forum's have only reported the GPS issue which was fixed. Including those who had it fixed under warranty. But none of that is relevant, this isn't a LG G5!.

Don't buy a G5. GPS doesn't work, poor signal screen ghosts retains, battery life sucks, power button and finger print scanner breaks, screen cracks fairly easily. Only good points are loud speaker, reasonable general performance, and Good quality camera but with weird fish eye effect on some pictures due to lens design.

I've got a Samsung galaxy S4 and a iPhone 4 from around the same time. My iPhone 4 stopped being anything near useful around 5-6 years ago and gathers dust. The Samsung S4 still works great on original OS and every app works fine, in fact my son's using it now. Apple is the classic case study for planned obsolescence.

Do you mean Google camera?

its not the camera at fault its the stock camera app, which can be replaced with google photo which greatly improves the image quality.

I would've thought so without having owned one but honestly, it is really bad. I accept that I was coming from Galaxy S7 Edge which has a notoriously good camera, but I expected this to at least be good.

I have the Lg G5 at the moment and the camera is excellent, I would have expected this to be an upgrade?

Good price so heat for that but don't get this phone, absolutely horrible camera. Got this as my s7 edge was bit smashed up, back using the smashed up s7 edge and recycled the g6, absolutely garbage camera
