2400 ram will only reach 2666 at best.(unless you get a mislabeled pair)
Overclocking 2400 ram will break the same official guidelines.
Putting faster ram in it doesnt, because until you manually speed it up it will run at official supported frequencies. So there. ;#}

Looking at building a ~£800 PC and this specs up well in comparision. If it was in a plain black case I would snap this up... No idea why anyone want want this monstrosity on their desk. Shame.
I've got my 1060 overclocked with a Ryzen 5 1600 overclocked and it's a 1440p beast I love it 1080 it absolutely slaughters it's a great bit of kit. I actually built it because I was super disappointed in the one x 4k. Not native 30fps if your lucky was not for me. Obviously they have the odd game that kills at 4k Forza being one but my 1060 does Forza in 4k 60fps with the same settings it's not an overly demanding game. So yea this machine is killer especially when you consider the other benefits that come with a pc. No online fees cheaper games music production video production photo editing. Aw3some
Spec wise this is really good for the money. I'm building a Ryzen machine right now, which, why it may be more upgrade-able in future, is slightly weaker in spec than this and I've gone for low budget. I'd say if you're looking for a decent 1080p machine this is actually a pretty good deal.

Case is horrific though.

amazon.com/Sup…13W

if you have more PCIE slots (and lanes .. and money) you can obviously put more SSDs
I'm doing the RAID in software - Windows Storage Spaces and ZFS, depending on the OS, which probably limits the speeds somewhat and increases CPU usage but is more flexible for my needs - I can rearrange without the need to reboot etc

Although very impressive, I can’t see a need for 12GB/s read speed unless you have a substantial amount of data getting read and written.

need and want is 2 very different story rendering 4k videos and working on 43mpx pictures can appreciate fast read/write speeds. At the moment my workload is split to 3 sata ssd ( 1 for OS, 1 for data and one for cache/export ). I've been working and looking at Fusion-IO cards too ( gen2 ) as those are getting cheaper and replaced in most places by gen3 cards and it can do 2g/s read and 1.5g/s write and stable on IOPS. But for the same amount of money a 2-4 nvme sounds more cost/performance effective however so far it seems like only achievable with x299 and threadripper systems like this guy did : 8x nvme in raid0

Why would it be resolved next year? What's happening?

Increased supply basically (fabs will be back online after upgrades) plus samsung is rumoured to be ramping sram production..

as for brexit, a drop from £1.50 plus to £1.30 to usd (and given we pay for everything in either $ or €) has affected prices and will continue to do ..

yes occasionally prices may be cheaper here, but its not indicative

Cheapest 512Gb NVME SSD I can find. Best price it's ever been too :)
Does this support 4k sector size so works in a hackintosh?
Here's my takeaway from the reviews I read on kitguru, tomshardware, anandtech, storagereview and more.

An nvme hobbled by poor performance, hoping to gain market share with 'low' purchase price and the WD brand name.

Performance is lacking and in a few cases is outstripped by standard SATA SSDs.

In terms of power consumption it does well against other nvme drives and this would be a pro for use in a notebook.

All in all an underwhelming drive.

Heat for the price, but I would read a few reviews and see if this is something that suits your needs. If you are buying based on the fact this is a low cost decent capacity nvme from a recognisable brand you may be disappointed when you compare it to the alternatives.
After reading through the reviews my overall impression was that none of the reviewers were impressed with what WD is trying to sell here and for what it offered didn't think it was good value at msrp.

But, maybe at this price it is worth a punt. Just something to keep in mind.

The sticker is a heat spreader. Even then these need to transfer huge amounts of data before they throttle.
Pretty poor performance across the board on these drives when compared to the NVMe competition, but the price is pretty good. If you must have NVMe and don't have the extra funds to to go for something like the 960 EVO then it's still a decent option.

The options for collect from depot or rearrange delivery were no longer available, I rang UKMails number which is all automated and put in my tracking, it said that rearranging delivery was not possible due to it being past the delivery date..
All very dodgy, I suspect Dell never actually sent these and just had some fake tracking numbers issued or something, wouldn't hold your breath on these at £670

I believe the things stand quite differently when it come to enterprises.Yeah, I used the Windows Media Creation tool from Microsoft website and it worked flawlessly. If you Google the name of it, on the page you will also find a guide.Yeah, all Xiaomi laptops come with QWERTY US keyboard - something I do not find odd, even though I have got used to the UK layout after using the US layout for 12 years.

£, @, #, and smaller return key are annoying; it annoyed me when I lived in the US.

Perhaps because Ebuyer isn't exactly a supplier of choice.

Completely true, this is like buying a car than can do 150 when most people can't drive faster than 70(ish). I'd still advise most people to get an NVME drive over a standard SSD though in case they do need that speed in the future. Another plus is they are so easy to install compared to sata drives, my pc only has the M.2 in it and I was amazed how quick the build went without mucking about with drive cages & cable management.

I did check the drive when I got it and it had less than 280 hours on it which is nothing really, plus all the benchmarks were actually about 200MBs faster than the published spec which impressed me.

Yeah, mine had less than 100 hours and under 1TB writes, so it had clearly been pulled from a new laptop and just had a few basic tests ran on it... Very happy with it, and a great way to use up a bunch of vouchers that I had lying about.

That's a really misleading way of estimating life expectancy of an SSD. …That's a really misleading way of estimating life expectancy of an SSD. 280 hours is plenty of time to kill this SSD... 3 times over!SSD endurance is measured by amount of data written to it in TBW or DWPD. It concerns me that Toshiba doesn't quote an official figure for this model, so I'm just going to assume 300TBW which is typical of a consumer SSD of this size. With the quoted write speed of 980MB/s, I can kill this thing in less than 90 hours!Maths: 300[TBW] * 1024 * 1024 / 980[MB/s] / 60 / 60 = 89.2 hoursEven if this is an entry-level enterprise-grade SSD (which this model is NOT) you may get 10x the endurance, that's still only 900 hours (37 days)I am generally uncomfortable with used SSDs for the reason that I've no idea how it's been used.Do your maths, and know the risks.

Technically correct, but bad advice in the real world. These are consumer drives used in products like the Microsoft Surface, they are not going to have been running continuous read write cycles. The 5-10 years is a quote from the manufacturer by the way.

Edit: Some info on whether to be concerned about SSD lifespans

Im sure in the early days not all z97 and x99 boards could boot from nvme. The ones which did needed some crazy mod to trick the motherboard to boot from it.
