Quote: ''The watch can measure times of up to 1 hour'' - WOW!

Translation: it has a stopwatch counting up to 59' 59".

I bought a different colour version of this around 5 years ago, paid something like £35. Looks nice, like a cheap-ish version of G-Shock (but more modest, nothing like the outlandish design of some models). It's solar and the rechargeable battery has always been at High, even during dark scottish winters. I've worn it going scuba diving, travelling (has a 2nd time zone and the hands move automatically when you adjust the time/time zone).

Only bad thing is that the window glass is acrylic, so while being recessed in the case, it still can be scratched.

This is definitely larger than that one though. I still like the one you posted, nice and clear, I fear I would end up bashing it to death very quickly though, that's the only reason I didn't buy it when you posted it.
That and the fact, I now have 3 work watches and 1 decent watch, which seems a bit extreme.

The recent fashion for large watches seems to be just that, fashion. Tbh, this doesn't even seem to be that small

This is the main reason for the negative reviews. Nobody is suggesting that you can go off grid with this, at least outside of the Sahara desert. But it adds virtually nothing to the weight and bulk, and is super cheap. Try finding a non-solar 15000MAh battery pack for less. And the stated capacity doesn't seem exaggerated. It's about the same size and weight as my Xiaomi 15000mAh power bank and seems to hold just as much charge. And 58% of the reviews are 4-5 stars, and were probably written when it was a higher price, so I'm not alone in thinking this. Ultimately, if you're slating this for its poor solar performance, you've got insanely high expectations for £7.99

Device is heavy, and unless charged pretty useless.

Kinda like a regular 15000mAh power bank then?

And still, 1 bar (quarter charge) is more than you'd get if you left a regular power bank out in the sun

Technology not there yet for portable solar powered batteries yet in my experience... Even on sunniest day in Spain it never charged... Not this one though
Not this brand, but the solar panel on the one I have (from Amazon, but not sold by them anymore) doesn't charge at all. If anything putting it under sunlight appears to drain the battery
In my experience, the solar panels on these do pretty much nothing as too small.

It'll be incredibly slow to charge though, that shows current at 0.08amp .....so solar will take a few weeks to charge it up I reckon. Might be useful in the warmer countries but most of these solar battery packs aren't realistically much use, many don't even have real panels on them

Solar panels on these are utterly pointless, even in the brightest of sunshine it would take days and days to charge up and often these panels are fake anyway. I seem to recall reading that on some of these the solar charging LED use up more energy (from the battery) than the panel can provide

Why do people always think you need to put these solar panels under direct …Why do people always think you need to put these solar panels under direct sunlight? Solar panels work just fine with daylight.

I know! It’s a trick question! These power banks don’t ever really recharge in sunlight, direct or indirect! You only need to look at the size of the measly thing on this vs. the size of a real 10W panel (hint: it’s about 5 times bigger or more) - it’s just simple science.

The only way this thing might show increased charge is from the cells being slightly warmed by the sunlight.

Anyway, serious question - if these actually worked don’t you think Anker, Aukey, Ravpower, etc.would have made one by now? Or someone would have made a phone case with one on the back? They haven’t, because the size of this thing makes it pointless.
Edited by: "plewis00" 6th Jan
50% additional capacity at 15000mAh for only 36p more fulfilled Amazon here, although usual conflicting spec in description stating 12000mAh not 15000mAh and image shows 10000mAh - just make up your own description. Fortunately fulfilled Amazon so you can send it back when Amazon send you a piggy bank not a power bank.

I am just speculating, but based on a consistent track record of unregulated LED lamp suppliers lying about the output/power consumption of their products. I have made a suggestion about technically-literate and trustworthy reviews; I'm sure you're as capable of searching for them as I am.

there 15.99 now so this need expiring
If this has an RRP of 15.99 then DFS never have a sale on sofas. And just to rub it in, every comment is about how appalling the lights are.32854756-RMjqV.jpg
I got 2 sets of these when they were listed on here last year for £10.99. Had them in the garden for a year with no problems - they are brighter than a similar set of copper wired ones that I have put up.

The key to any solar powered light is to ensure that the panel is in the best location to catch the available sun - for example, I used to always place the solar panel in the ground for lights that were for a hedge, but now always place the solar panel on top of the hedge and the lights stay on much longer.

The other key point is to open it up and replace the battery with a decent high capacity rechargeable one. The ones they provide with this type of set are generally useless.

Final point to remember is that you are unlikely to have more than a few hours of them lit in Winter, but in the Summer, as long as you follow the above advice, they should last easily until the early hours of the morning. This set were starting to rapidly fade at 10pm last night - the day before the shortest day of the Year.
